    Plans will be available when part 2 is published, 'cause I'm not sure if a couple of things will change!

      I suppose people don't remember early CRT TVs or Radios or those record players with speakers.

      Just remember you will still need to insulate it (electrical interference and not sound/temperature)
      The metal box they are in originally creates this insulation. Without it you will find weird things will happen to this gallery like TVs and radios. Made a PC box out of a pizza box once when I was younger and it messed with half my house. Looked cool just couldn't be used when the gf wanted to watch tv.

      You can buy cases with windows and cases made from entirely acrylic, though thankfully the latter has gone out of fashion..

      Paul Jenkins those cases were cool. I had one or two myself. I think the metal board the motherboard is screwed to stops a lot of the interference.
      Just thought I would point out a possible future issue you may have, as I sure had it with my pizza box case

    This is the best project you've made. Looking forward for the next episode. Please don't rush it, make this wood PC case as perfect as you can. Thank you.

    What a beautiful garage you have. The brick interior is just gorgeous.

    I've been thinking about making something like this for awhile, after seeing a similar case about a year ago. Definitely adding yours to the inspiration file.

    In lieu of fitting the IO panel, why not reset the motherboard further inside the fame and just have a cable access area.
    After all how many times do we adjust cables on the back of the PC?

    I think this looks great. I don't have experience in shop-work, but at 8:53 how come the bit has a loose wrap on it? Is that to get the chips out earlier/neater?

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  7 лет назад

      Thats just a piece of tape telling me how deep to drill. By coming back on the other side to finish the hole, I didn't get any chipout that could splinter.

    not a slight against you, but every time I see a woodworker make a computer case, it ends up being a massively thick and huge object ... to hold maybe 6 lbs of components (major overestimate there) I think its just the mentality of it, but I would love to see a thin light wood case ...

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  5 лет назад

      The idea of this was a general purpose case that didn't require particularly fancy tools. If I wanted to make a thin and light case, I would have used the CNC, veneer bag, different joinery, better materials than pine plywood.

    the slots for the fan isn't a great idea, it will reduce airflow and increase noise. (what i have experienced), loving this build though!!

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  7 лет назад +3

      Its low powered hardware which can be adequately cooled by a single 120mm fan, so four fans should be just fine.

    hey Paul, nice case. I do quite like the look of plywood. At 0.30, what are those rulers called? Also where do you get your blades?

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  7 лет назад +2

      Thats an Incra T-Rule. I've had the combo imperial/metric for awhile, but it was too fat and I didn't use it. Since getting the 'just metric' (150mm) I've been using it non-stop. Whatever the unit of measurement you use, get just the 'single' version rather than the combo.

    • @TheWoodKnight

      Neither - probably workshop PC. Very underpowered PC, gaming/editing PC lives upstairs and needs to be larger for full ATX parts ;)

      Many people think wood + "hot" PC will be a death trap of fire because they don't understand what ignition or smoking temperatures of various materials are.
