Lowa boots out of the box are the best . The quality has got a little suspect the last few years . And yeah I can’t figure out for the life of me why the price keeps going up dramatically ,versus just in increments with the normal slow inflation. And the customer service on the phone is horrible , I spoke to a woman customer service rep on the phone once .and she could not give a flying shit about my shoes fall apart a little bit in the toe . I literally switch boots for the next few years because of that one conversation with her .but I had to come back because the Boot still is better than alllllllllllll the rest. But that phone call still bugs me till this day.
My Renegades are getting worn at exactly one spot, the outer side of both heels. The first layer is worn out and a softer layer underneath is exposed. Can I do anything to repair that? If not, how long do you think I have before the sole falls apart? I've had them for 4 years and it feels like they should last longer than that.
these boots are the top pick on cleverhiker for heavy packs. i've also read several reviews elsewhere of people using them with 40lb packs no problem. just ordered a pair myself and will report back after a 3 day backpacking trip on the appalachian
i am new in all this, so what is good boot for 40 - 50 lbs? I am talking about camping and 500km hiking with full 60 - 70l backpack. Thanks for answer in advance?
I don't know if those boots made for the European market are any different than the US or the 2017 version has been changed, but I've had them for a week and while they're comfortable, I wish raving reviews mentioned how dangerously slippery these are. My old trainers are safer on wet rocks or surfaces and today I nearly tripped when walking into my local store (tiled floor) from the rain. It has never, ever happened to me in any shoes I own. I bought this crap based on few youtube reviews and now I've got a £150 paperweight I can only use on sunny days. Stay away if you're thinking of getting anywhere in bad weather.
This detailed review identified the same issue with poor traction in wet grass. ruclips.net/video/dOsOhIJNtjw/видео.html I was about to purchase but will now keep looking for another boot
My Lowa GTX fell apart in the tropics twice. I wrote the US government about them and my report is now on file. They might be good shoes, but clearly they were not designed for tropical climates. www.saferproducts.gov/ViewIncident/1273867
They are sold in Bangkok, where I used to live. I bought them for hiking around Mt Kailash in Tibet, kept them in Bangkok, and they fell apart. I made a movie about them falling apart dai.ly/xtp1kh . The head of Lowa USA told me that I was making up the story, that I had probably deliberately damaged them, and that I was just seeking Internet fame. He threatened to take me to court. (I'm not making this up.) Later I learned about hydrolysis and understood what had happened.
At the time it really startled me. Now I understand that just because a person has achieved some success his or her mental health may still be not be so good. If you watch the video, dai.ly/xtp1kh, you'll see that for a while I was a Lowa devotee. Now I wouldn't wear them to go further than the grocery store.
wow it is Bruce Willis - did not know he was a Gear reviewer

Thanks for the video. I'm about to get me a pair soon. What boots do you recommend for carrying 45lb on a hike?
A good question. I'd like to hear the response, too.

Tom Riddle why are you wearing gtx boots in the tropics. Your fault for not choosing right footwear.

If you bought them in Bangkok there's a 75% chance you got fakes.
