Doesn't matter 'bout the nonsensical context of spacemen and the old 'lampost song' ~ Herman's Hermits were a wonderful wakky group with their lead cheeky chappy singer who always lifted the spirits when hearing their songs. Thank you Herman Hermits for your contribution to the tops of British pop music history.
Some of the RAF & 8th Air Force Pilots & Aircrews used to sing the song in the Officers Club & Pub (I met one USAAF B-24 Pilot who still remembered the words!), so why not some Astronauts? 🚀👨🚀😉 (And by the way, this is actually a cover of George Formby's 1937 recording - the original song was a hit in England during the 1930's & 40's. I remember hearing Peter Noone tell a story about it, I believe his father had George's 78 from 37'? 🙂)
Not related, but the song was a hit in 1937, and during WWII in England. (Little known today surprisingly, and rarely associated with WWII?) I met an 8th USAAF B-24 Pilot who remembered the words (to this song, and quite a few others!), they used to sing it in the Officer's Club/Pub...

One of the first albums I ever heard as a child. From earliest memory one of my favorites songs.
One of the best videos on the internet.
Should've gone to Specsavers
I'm sitting in a spaceship in the middle of space in case a certain little meteorite cames by.
Thank you for this gem Poppy❤️

Memories
You ever just, find a video that you can't describe fairly in words?
what is this song got to do with sitting in a space ship
Exactly what I was thinking........very random!
@@resonator_95 There is a set up for the scene in the movie ("Hold On!"), but it's been so long since I've seen it I can't remember what it is!
literally nothing

@@willzimjohn Thank you, but that still doesn't explain the context of why they are in the spaceship for this song.
