I think the potential for herd improvements speak for themselves in that you can feed a balanced and consistent TMR, reduce feeding times and reduce wastage, but it has to be weighed against the investment required to purchase. The overall improvement for milk yield/volumes and herd health speak for themselves and there is plenty of statistics out there to support it..
Also eliminates a serious proportion of bullying as absolutely no point in cows barging into a feed area to defend one spot where a better bale is when all feed is exactly the same and therefore heifers will also look after themselves considerably better and produce to potential and get in calf more timely as life’s less stressful for them.
