I actually met Emile once and I told him how I had always been a huge fan of his and I also mentioned how I was waiting to watch his lets play of Xenoblade till I was able to find a copy of the game for myself so I could play along with him and he actually took a copy of the game out of his bag and gave it to me for free it was a wonderful experience and I hope I Emile will be at ConBravo again so I can try and give him something in return.
Honestly I am ok with there not being any LP stuff recorded. These three blog days have been amazing to watch. I have had a terrible week and these videos may be late in terms of a schedule but for me they were timed perfectly. The four of you made my New Year's much better than it would have been otherwise.
Masae plays Toon Link and Chugga plays Shulk. Those are 2 of my mains! I can't play Ness to save my life though. Advice they will probably never read but could be helpful for other people who may play them. For Toon Link, use bombs more. Bombs are the most versatile projectile he has since he carries it around with him. It's really good for pressuring your opponent to do something like dodging or shielding. His back throw also kills at high percentages. For Shulk, don't keep using Monado Smash after a kill. It does less damage and you get launched farther so it puts you in a bad situation. That's how Emile died the first time. If he used Shield instead he would have lived easily.
soulgamer78 Word of advice: it doesn't matter if they get hit before they use PK magnet. Also I'm not entirely sure, but I think PK magnet in this game only absorb energy based projectiles, like PK fire or Samus' charge shot. I remember that Ness could be hit with physical projectiles.
Yami PK Magnet absorbs explosions as well, so since Toon Links bomb radius is incredibly large, it can absorvlb from quite a bit away. Also the magnet absorbs any energy based attacks (Pikachu's thunder, Master Edges energy projectiles, Bowser's flame). The only problem is it has a slow set-up so it only works by predictions.
soulgamer78 Ness' bat has a start up time like PK magnet does. So really it's about who can outplay the other. Having bombs is good for Link or Toon Link to have because they could just throw it in the air and limit landing options. It doesn't have to be directly thrown at the other player.
They were tears of joy to go see your friends, and tears of sadness cuz you left. As long as you guys had fun, it did look like you did. happy new year! yeah you'll hear that a lot today.
This day in history: Dec 22 1775 - Continental navy organized with 7 ships 1807 - US Congress passes Embargo Act, prohibiting American ships from trading in all foreign ports, as a result of involvement in hostilities between France and Britain. 1862 - -Jan 2nd) Raid on Morgan's: Bardstown to Elizabethtown, KY 1870 - Jules Janssen, flys in a balloon in order to study a solar eclipse 1882 - 1st string of Christmas tree lights created by Thomas Edison 1944 - Germans demand surrender of American troops at Bastogne, Belgium 1962 - 1,000,000th NBA point scored
Based on what I see on vlogs I imagine it being incredibly fun to hang out with you guys. I hope to be able to meet you all at some point. Maybe if/when I go to Pax, which I've always wanted to do.
But he did completely wreck Stephen right after he checked out his controller, lol. There was a very noticeable change in his skill level from before the check to after.
Its amazing to have wonderful friends like emile and masae. They seem like fun people. I know sometimes in our busy and hectic lives we often forget to just appreciate what and more importantly who we have. So i just wanted to say im glad we get to share in your experiences you have with your amazing friends they all seem like so much fun but especially emile and masae they are very genuine and kind people and its rare to have friends like that. Also Happy 2015~!
So I just found this channel and WOW am I liking the content. I've only seen the Cugga Vlogs but just those were enough for me to sub. I'll be checking out the rest later but man did I enjoy this. Though I gotta try 1,000 blank cards sometime that sound fantastic. ( I actually got Coup for Christmas. I dislike how if you lose an influence you're basically out of the game. But I like the lieing aspect of it. )
Man I love how Stephen plays my main (Ness) and Emile plays my secondary (Shulk), especially because they're the reasons I love the games both those characters come from! :D
I am calling Masae the Element of Generosity! in other words, shes a Rarity. her and Emile together are awesome and see you and Mal having so much fun with them Stephen is making really feeling it. I really look forward to when you guys can get together more with Emile and Masae and my favorite part was seeing you guys playing Smash Brothers and it just warms my heart so much. keep up the good work mate and don't stop doing what you love.
Man, I'd be scared to fight some of you guys on Smash lol. I mean, I knew I wasn't great at the game, but watching you all makes me realize how much I really suck, ha.
I would love to fight against Emile's Shulk with my Shulk. He seems to be on the same level as me. I want to know who's Shulk has the better fighting style.
Chuggs didn't use his monado arts other than smash and buster. He could have taken advantage of of his jump for combos, and speed for moving in for damage, not to mention the shield for not losing that first stock, lol. Though he did pretty well, using n-airs effectively and such.
Hey Stephen, just a couple tips from a fellow ness main: 1. Use pk a lot more - it's a great initiator and it combos into so many things, grab, fsmash, another pk fire, etc. 2. Use his bread and butter combo. It pretty much goes pk fire - down throw - Fair - fair - Uair. It is really good, and quite safe. Use this to rack up quick damage. 3. Don't use Pk flash too much - it's too slow, punishable, and hard to land. 4. Your two main kill moves (Fsmash and back throw) are pretty useless and get stale quickly if you use them early - bat kills around 70% and back throw kills (reliably) around 100%. Just keep that in mind. 5. If you are playing a really light character, it is very easy to gimp with pk thunder if you can get them off of the stage with fsmash. Just a couple of tips! You have potential, keep practicing!
StephenVlog I have a feeling if you and Mal ever had a kid Chuggaa and Masae would be the Godparents. You guys just seem to get along perfectly. You're all such great friends.
Stephen and Chugga both want to spend more time together. ...This simply supports the next big gift he gets them will be a house for them all to move into and just live with each other. -it also supports the yaoi fanfic writers along with other things said in this vlog but we don't talk about that-
for stephen, less forward smash, more other kill moves. and for Emile, you can also use jump for kills, just knock them off stage and then hit them with an aerial.
Me and Emile have a pretty close play style for shulk. Cool. I don't use the same manado arts as he does though. I usually go for a buster and then when there at a high damage, go for smash. When I'm getting in the 80 and 90, I go for sheild.
I realize that life is busy and work must happen, but I definitely see that these two want you guys around more often and I don't know cause I'm kinda still on the newer end around here but I don't think anyone would complain with an extended Stephen & Mal + Chugga and Masae trip :D
I hope y'allz do get to spend time together more often! Such positive vibes between the four of you. It's pretty awesome to watch. Also, I suddenly want to know the brand of the shirts you're wearing in this and the previous day's vlog, Stephen. Do you know where they were purchased? I'm on the hunt for better casual dress shirts. :)
It was great to see Emile and Masae outside of a let's play scene. Very insightful. Next time you see Emile, ask him about his fiesta keys to the garage or the metropolitan mutant of ark.
Stephen I've watched your blog for quite awhile I would personally like to meet you and mal Emile and masae because all you guys are fun and enjoyable that make me laugh on the inside I plan on trying to go to your next pax meet up whenever that is you guys are amazing keep it going
As someone who plays both Ness and Shulk: Ness: I would not rely too much on PK Flash when someone's off stage. It's very easy to avoid. Use PK Thunder or Ness' aerial moves instead to keep them off the stage or to gimp them. Also, utilize PK Fire into grab a bit more. Shulk: I find Shulk difficult to use because his attacks come out so slow, but it really is all about his Monado arts. I usually start off with Speed to increase my mobility and then switch to Buster once that wares off. I also utilize his tilts a LOT, which I saw Chugga doing, so good job with that.
Shulk actually has really good aerials. Wall out opponents with short hop nairs and fairs. Speed and buster are usually what you should switch between but you can use jump to go for deep edge guarding, shield to stock tank in doubles or to survive in singles.
I dont use shulk but I played a shulk who was amazing at him. Short hop forward arial, it was so hard to hit him. And when I got behind him he jumped and before he landed he does back arial. So good. I had to keep using counter (Lucario) just to do damage.
I agree with the ariels attacks/PK Thunder but not PK Flash sure someone can avoid it but there is that change where some one is at a high % & is in the air I prefer to use when someone is off the stage
As a ness main i notice you dont thunder dive very often and i think that would really improve your ness meta it gives a strong attack and gives thunder a more threatening "status?" In fights
Tell chugga this tip for shulk, he can cancel his current art by hitting the special button 2-3 times quickly, and then switch to a different art if he chooses
You know what I've realized? Emile's never really talked about melee, has never really been in a video playing melee on any channel, and there's still never been a tournament for melee on the runaway guys. That's really weird because he loves smash and has had connection with every other game.
Stephen your a pretty good Ness and just a few tips as a fellow Ness player. Trying using the PK Fire to grab combo more as well as Ness' amazing forward air. Tbh though your great and I'd love to face you.
i think I have a really good combo for ness. use PK Fire to trap the opponent and then either side smash, dash attack, or PK flash to deal massive damage
GridLine Productions If I remember right, a lot of competitive players would choose him during Melee's hayday, and it got to the point where a meme video came up making fun of it, if you just search no items fox only final destination you should find it.
ShurMaster lol "Considered." A nice way of saying he is no matter what you think lol. Before one disagrees with the competitive community, they should watch some pro matches to actually know what they're talking about. I'm not saying you don't, I'm just warning those who do.
As a Ness main I would not recommend to use (to everyone) to use PK Thunder to drag it & add % No. 1 your defenseless No. 2 it adds very little % I would use to go into someone since it hits someone at 25% rather then 7 per hit the only time you should drag if you're trying to get the Smash Ball
PK Flash is actually a really bad move to use competitively. It's easy to see coming, it's easy to avoid, and it's incredibly slow. Like Masae could have avoided the hit if she grabbed the ledge due to invincibility. PK thunder in this game is really good off the edge because you can control it better. It's really annoying going against a good Ness player.
Yami PK Flash while someone is doing a smash attack is actually pretty useful. There is also the fact that a fully charged PK Flash breaks sheilds. It is a really useful move if use correctly and is alot about mindgames, much like Ness' entire moveset.
soulgamer78 Smash attacks usually don't take long enough for a fully charged PK flash to land. The only time I was able to hit someone with that move is when they were above me since the move goes up first. I would argue that Ness' PK fire is a better move to use when someone is doing a missed smash attack. Then immediately grab them and down throw into forward air into forward air and possibly another forward air. The risk-reward of PK flash is almost always not worth it unless you're just doing it for fun, which is what they were doing in this case.
I main Ness and I could say that it all depends on your strategy and how you play, and then you find out the moves and attacks that compliment your strategy
Yami It is true it is alot less risky using the PK Fire which is a good strategy (although my combos I usually grab down throw, Uair jump Uair, or down throw Fair short hop Fair then Fair and follow by a spike) but the PK Fire is ALOT less rewarding then hitting someone with a well thoughtout Flash or a rediculous PK Thunder 2.
I was internally screaming at Chuggaa to switch to shield after Stephen's first stock, but smash is apparently really good for dealing damage and not dying.
I'm a little confused watching these past 3 vlogs, What exactly is the arrangment between Chuggaa and Masae? Do you they share a living space or...? It just seems like that idk why.
you guys never stayed an extra day. Chugga came to hang with you on a thursday on that 4th of July Weekend. YOU GUYS NEED TO STAY LONGER AT CHUGGA'S NOW. :DDD
>tfw I don't have the reaction time to play Smash like that but I can use Monado Arts better than Chugga Chuggaa knows what he's doing with his air game, he's got N-Air Momentum down pat. He could stand to use more D-Tilts and Fairs but *he's really feeling* out *Shulk* as a character. -To cancel a Monado Art, press BBB. So, to activate Jump from Smash, press BBBB. Neutral is useful anywhere, practically. -Jump should be used for securing off screen kills and for when you get launched when using Shield or Speed. Use Forward Air primarily for this. -Speed should be used as an alternative to Buster at the start. The main technique with Speed is called Pivot Grab, and is a subskill of Pivoting. Basically, run PAST the enemy, turn around immediately, and attack. Pivoting is also great on Shulk due to his faster tilts. So, RUN, TURN AROUND + A/GRAB. Do it right and they will have to read it otherwise they'll never see it coming. -Shield should be used when you fucked up Speed or Buster. If you have definitely fucked up and have 100+ and they have like 40%, consider being risky because they'll anticipate Shield. Otherwise, just use Shield. -Buster should be used early to rack up damage on scrubs. Use it early but careful using it late. -Smash should be used for fights to the death (You have 80%, they have 80%) or for a curbstomp (You have 40%, they have 80%). If you get the kill, TURN OFF SMASH IMMEDIATELY. You aren't Mew2King or something, you will not kill them using knockback from 0% with Smash. Don't even try it. Just switch to Speed, Neutral, or Jump depending on how good you are. Do not switch to Buster. You'll go from 100 to 200 faster than you'll expect. Then Shield can't save you. When you die you can go back to Buster.
Wow, that was so nice of him!
So he just goes through other people's bags?
Johnathon Loveless wow that was an incredible fail of a typo! He pulled it out of his bag not mine whoops.
Johnathon Loveless
He's actually a magician. He magicked a copy into his bag
Arbezenoki the true secret to where Emile gets all his bad puns
Honestly I am ok with there not being any LP stuff recorded. These three blog days have been amazing to watch. I have had a terrible week and these videos may be late in terms of a schedule but for me they were timed perfectly. The four of you made my New Year's much better than it would have been otherwise.
I'm just like "Aaaaaah I want friends like that" *SIgh*
I know that feeling lol
Me everytime I play Persona 4. Basically I'm pathetic because I want fictional characters to become my friends.
You all ready kno!
Thats exactly what I thought
Yeah
6:49-6:52
Stephen: "I'M ALIVE, I'M ALIVE, I'M ALIVE!"
Emile: "No you're not. I'm really feeling it."
This made me laugh pretty hard.
You guys have to make "A Week With Chuggaaconroy"!
The month of conroy :) (plus masae)
Well in the summer when you guys do more recording you should definitely do another round of You're In The Movies.
Or Mario Party.
Craftimothy123 Well in the video that is what he said he was going to record so they will probably record that.
NintendoBlurb But he's sick:(
Craftimothy123 Who Stephen or Emile? Well I hope they get better soon. They should be feeling better by summer right? :P
NintendoBlurb Emile is sick again.
Chuggaaconroy: A child in an adult body :3
Masae plays Toon Link and Chugga plays Shulk. Those are 2 of my mains! I can't play Ness to save my life though.

Word of advice, DO NOT use bombs against Ness, his PK Magnet absorbs them.
soulgamer78

Also for physical projectiles Ness' bat reflect those. Just something to say to anyone who sits in one corner and uses the B Button the whole game XP.
soulgamer78
Ness' bat has a start up time like PK magnet does. So really it's about who can outplay the other. Having bombs is good for Link or Toon Link to have because they could just throw it in the air and limit landing options. It doesn't have to be directly thrown at the other player.
Oh my god Stephen is so good with Ness!
Whenever I play Shulk, I seem to have trouble using his ability switch like from jump to smash
They were tears of joy to go see your friends, and tears of sadness cuz you left. As long as you guys had fun, it did look like you did. happy new year! yeah you'll hear that a lot today.

I can't believe that Emile actually short hops.
Based on what I see on vlogs I imagine it being incredibly fun to hang out with you guys. I hope to be able to meet you all at some point. Maybe if/when I go to Pax, which I've always wanted to do.
btw stehen trying using pk fire then grabing them while they are stuck
4:42 - 4:50 Emile, NO JOHNS!!!!
The salt was strong in that match.
I guess you could call it: JOHNNY'S SALT!!!
But he did completely wreck Stephen right after he checked out his controller, lol. There was a very noticeable change in his skill level from before the check to after.
MellowM1nds Yeah...
Its amazing to have wonderful friends like emile and masae. They seem like fun people. Also Happy 2015~!
Can anyone explain how Monado Vision works? I've never figured it out.
It's a counter attack, if you use it right before someone hits you it cancels their attack and you hit them.
i get hungry when i watch stephenvlog
So I just found this channel and WOW am I liking the content.
I've only seen the Cugga Vlogs but just those were enough for me to sub. I'll be checking out the rest later but man did I enjoy this.
Though I gotta try 1,000 blank cards sometime that sound fantastic.

Man I love how Stephen plays my main (Ness) and Emile plays my secondary (Shulk), especially because they're the reasons I love the games both those characters come from! :D
***** Xenoblade+ Earthbound best games
That is my Main and Secondary too, Dr, Mario is my backup secondary though
***** I actually have a few backups as well, including Samus, Ganondorf, and Rosalina :p
Static Pichu All of my backups are
Dr. Mario
Ganondorf
Pac Man
and Wii Fit Trainer
Shulk is one of my backups, to be honest. My main is Greninja, and my secondary is Toon Link.
Emile's just making different faces trying to find the right one while being challenged to smash.
Playing games with you four is officially on my bucket list...:)
6:47 Ness will be really feeling that in the morning.
I am calling Masae the Element of Generosity! in other words, shes a Rarity. her and Emile together are awesome and see you and Mal having so much fun with them Stephen is making really feeling it. I would love to fight against Emile's Shulk with my Shulk. He seems to be on the same level as me. I want to know who's Shulk has the better fighting style.
They arent really good though
I could beat masae in smash bros. If i was good
Whats the Smash Bros theme with that guitar in this video called?
Toon Link,Link,Villager have bad grabs the leave you wide open to an enemy attack if it misses. Any tips of avoiding this.
7:22 what was that supposed to be, and why did Masae react so negatively?
4:40 Chuggaa with the johns lol.
Emile's so awkward I just want to hug him.
TrollingToucan maaaan who doesn’t?
It's great you guys have such good friends. Glad you had a blast!
8:40 is that the xenoblade main theme in the background? Ahhh Emile you and xenoblade.
Chuggs didn't use his monado arts other than smash and buster. He could have taken advantage of of his jump for combos, and speed for moving in for damage, not to mention the shield for not losing that first stock, lol. Though he did pretty well, using n-airs effectively and such.

I'm so glad to see that Phantom Hourglass poster! That game is so underrated!
Stephen and Chugga both want to spend more time together. ...This simply supports the next big gift he gets them will be a house for them all to move into and just live with each other.
-it also supports the yaoi fanfic writers along with other things said in this vlog but we don't talk about that-
okay around about 8:12 does anyone else hear the title theme for xenoblade chronicles or am I crazy?
I hear it too. If nothing else, some piano piece is playing in the background.
Liam Horton So I'm not crazy (also THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD)
for stephen, less forward smash, more other kill moves. and for Emile, you can also use jump for kills, just knock them off stage and then hit them with an aerial.
Yeah I think Chugga was testing out the shield buttons when he said hold on.
Publix?! They have those in Georgia?
whenever u go visit Emile and Masse, do the 99 stock lives Emile was talking about xD
Why are they not using gamecube controllers
Me and Emile have a pretty close play style for shulk. Cool. I don't use the same manado arts as he does though. I usually go for a buster and then when there at a high damage, go for smash. When I'm getting in the 80 and 90, I go for sheild.

Toon Link is my main, Shulk is my old main, and Ness is my friend's new main.
Coincidence, I THINK SO!
I don't see many people use PSI Magnet with Ness, I use it all the time.
As someone who plays both Ness and Shulk:
Ness: I would not rely too much on PK Flash when someone's off stage. It's very easy to avoid. Use PK Thunder or Ness' aerial moves instead to keep them off the stage or to gimp them. Also, utilize PK Fire into grab a bit more.
Shulk: I find Shulk difficult to use because his attacks come out so slow, but it really is all about his Monado arts. y so many people helping them play smash let them be if thats just one match u saw them play
wow, the matches turned out exactly like I expected them to.
My main is definetly ness but a my second it would be lucario my third is probably little mac
As a ness main i notice you dont thunder dive very often and i think that would really improve your ness meta it gives a strong attack and gives thunder a more threatening "status?" In fights
I play Shulk as Main and Ness 2nd with 3rd going to ike/robin
This reminds me whatever happend to therunawayguys melee tournament they never posted it.
How the fuck did chugga do that voice at 8:13?
I need to practice using Shulk more in Smash.
I just noticed that Chugga has a framed photo of Buzz and Woody on his wall...
What's Publix? Is it a food store or something? Here in New York, we have Stop n Shop.
How come Masae didn't use Bowser when she went up against Stephen? Because that's who she used in the RunawayGuys SSB for Wii U tournament.
Are chugga and messa marred or not
No
Janet Eggleston NO NO NO NO. I swear, every time people see a man and a woman together, they always assume they’re in a relationship. Every time
Awwh! I wish i could see them more often on the Vlog :/ oh well..
your lucky its been snowing all day in new hampshire
Tell chugga this tip for shulk, he can cancel his current art by hitting the special button 2-3 times quickly, and then switch to a different art if he chooses

Admittedly I'm a bit sad that there are no recordings from the trip, but the vlogs were still plenty fun to watch, so I won't exactly complain
Stephen your a pretty good Ness and just a few tips as a fellow Ness player. Trying using the PK Fire to grab combo more as well as Ness' amazing forward air. Tbh though your great and I'd love to face you.
1:45 Masae is a spam attack confirmed
8:26 Cat under T.V.
Wouldn't it be funny if Emile or you guys got a house close to each other?
i think I have a really good combo for ness. use PK Fire to trap the opponent and then either side smash, dash attack, or PK flash to deal massive damage
why did Stephen use back throw at 40
Every time I watch this and I see the part where Emile tries to hug Stephen first, I always yell "EMILE FIRST!" in a voice that I cannot describe.
Lol! that fight between Emile and you, Stephen, I saw that as Xenoblade Chronicles Vs Earthbound, which one is Emile's best LP?!
PWLG UnicornLPer *cough cough* hello Josh
I know, its been an eon. And I shall
It should've been Final Destination, Fox Only, No Items
Or final destination, Shulk only, no items, backslash only
Final destination, random, standard a only,3 lives
GridLine Productions If I remember right, a lot of competitive players would choose him during Melee's hayday, and it got to the point where a meme video came up making fun of it, if you just search no items fox only final destination you should find it.
GridLine Productions On the competitive Melee scene, Fox is considered to be the best character in the game.
ShurMaster lol "Considered." A nice way of saying he is no matter what you think lol.
Before one disagrees with the competitive community, they should watch some pro matches to actually know what they're talking about. I'm not saying you don't, I'm just warning those who do.
I was really routing for you the whole time Stephen.
Ness is one of my favs great job on that K.O!
Says final destination does battlefield
As a Ness main I would not recommend to use (to everyone) to use PK Thunder to drag it & add % No. 1 your defenseless No. 2 it adds very little % I would use to go into someone since it hits someone at 25% rather then 7 per hit the only time you should drag if you're trying to get the Smash Ball
Now I'm no competitive player, but I'd use pk thunder when they're off stage for pressure instead of using PK flash

Smash attacks usually don't take long enough for a fully charged PK flash to land.
Who's Chugga to Stephen? Are they family or really good friends?
Amazingly awesome beautiful friends
I love how Emile just jumps at the word "hugs" XD
Wow I wish I could play against you guys to see where I stand.
oh id love to verse those guys
they may actually be a challenge.
Why no capture card?
I was internally screaming at Chuggaa to switch to shield after Stephen's first stock, but smash is apparently really good for dealing damage and not dying.
+tomatooverlord dont they live together?
I'm a little confused watching these past 3 vlogs, What exactly is the arrangment between Chuggaa and Masae? Do you they share a living space or...? It just seems like that idk why.
That was an amazing Smash Bros!
That 1st match was saucy
It's funny how Maseanela plays Toonlink and Chuggaaconroy plays as Shulk because those are my two mains
you guys never stayed an extra day. Chugga came to hang with you on a thursday on that 4th of July Weekend. YOU GUYS NEED TO STAY LONGER AT CHUGGA'S NOW. :DDD
>tfw I don't have the reaction time to play Smash like that but I can use Monado Arts better than Chugga
Chuggaa knows what he's doing with his air game, he's got N-Air Momentum down pat.
