- This grass where an abandoned house use to be at had 7 feet tall grass before the city of Dayton came out to cut it. With all the abandoned houses to tear down over the next 10 years an estimated 7,000 to 10,000 in the city and several more thousand likely to be vacant over the next 20 to 30 years as the population here is older and will continue to die off over that time and with the inability to retain decent young people, this will become a more common sight in over the next 20 years
You live around there in that apt building or somewhere close? GEEZ dude maybe you should just mow it for them and help your CITY stay looking nice. Why is it so hard for people do nice things for others now days. I mean the person 4 houses from me is trying to sell her home, She is older woman and it is over grown. While I don't drive that way much. I did pass it the other day and thought I would stop and give her a call and see if she needed someone to mow it for her. I will be doing this tomorrow for no cost. Just because I want to keep where I live looking nice and it is 8500sqft of land. With my mower can cut and bag it without much trouble, even if it hasn't seen a mower for 2 months. Sure its not 7 feet but I will tell you what if I live there, Next door or across the street, I would have mowed it long before it ever got that tall.

The City of Dayton has been doing a pretty good job, even since Mayor Mclin, I thought. They have torn down alot of houses and apartment buildings, like Parkside as well. - Go Dayton! - Great video.

can I ask how big the motor is on that lawnmower and what type of blades do you use I'm assuming you use Gator blades it did a really good job it has a lot of power. I hope to see more lawn videos in the future

Try $20-25,000 for that mower. They have 36hp diesel engines, are usually 4wd, and have other attachments available. They're build for this kind of stuff and will do it for thousands of hours.

Many years ago my family had a vacant lot next to us and we cut it regular. The neighborhood wise ass would always come and watch us cut it and he would always comment on how we cut it. One day my dad told him to shut the fuck up. That day on we stopped cutting it and that pissed him off to no end. he complained to the city that we do not cut it but city could do nothing about it since we did not own the property. That pissed him off even more.
Just wonderin'? If I lived next door to this "Rat's Nest", regardless of weather or not it was my property, I'd mow it myself, and send the city the bill, (through an Attorney?).

I Do this work everyday for the city of Memphis I've seen lots.Way worse this full of rats.We use John Deere 997 Mowers they a built for this type of work.That mower need be on 5 to get it cut down.Then come back on 3 to make that lot look neat.

Haven't they found a flail mower attachment to make the grass chopping easier than a standard mowing deck? Less time getting it done, less fuel, more productivity and more money if that ZTR had a flail mower instead 😃👍.

You can do it by hand and by a regular gas mower and weed eater but it would take a few days or also goats or sheep would turn it into a parking lot in a day.

First and foremost i would have put a $250 bid on that property. 2nd I'm sure he enjoyed your documentary of him doing his job, and last we was sent for grass length control, not beatify yard control. It looked great for what it was, and the fact he personally if that was done in the length of the video probably at the most made $5 for that job, so I'm sure beautifying wasn't on his mind. But if you want those yards looking nice and got $250 give me a call and I'll make them look good :)

neither. both are bad for grass health. the better thing to do would be to collect the clippings so the lawn gets full air & sun & can slowly return to normal, but they're probably not going to take time to do that.
