My almost eight month puppy Poncho is a pitbull boxer blue heeler mix. Hopefully he has fun doing this, he doesn't seem like one to jump. I won't make him jump until he's ten-eleven months though. I want that bone in his legs to form correctly
Hello! I have a 6 month old Border Collie and I am trying to teach him to catch a frisbee. He is good at catching it in mid air when it is thrown to him but when I try to throw it away from him so that he can chase it, he waits until the frisbee hits the ground to get it. How can I encourage him to chase the frisbee while it is still in the air?
great video, my only question is over how much time do I give this process to work? I can't imagine this happening in a few days so I'm curious as to what to expect time wise.
well I'll be damned! I actually pulled this off in 30 mins after a 30 min session of fetch with tennis balls. She had never seen a Frisbee before it adapted very quickly. Already got her chasing the Frisbee and bringing it back to me. Next, by a better quality Frisbee because she kind of wrecked this one🤭
I think it's simple recall training. Once the dog caught the frisbee you call them. If your recall is good the dog should bring it back to you (that's my take on it at least)
My dog does all 5. I'm having trouble getting her to catch in the air. She is half German Sheppard and waiting on dna possible half greyhound. She over runs it. I throw too hard she wont fetch it.
try throwing it short at first and as long as the dog catches it in the air, it's a catch they don't have to leave the ground. but if you want them too try bar jump training.
That's a great step-by-step guide on the best way to turn any dog into a Frisbee Dog. Nice job. In my experience, if a dog has the right prey drive to fetch a tennis ball, it'll chase and catch a frisbee. I did notice the disc you're using is too big for any of the competition organizations. Try using a smaller, authorized disc which are described here: tossandfetch.com/how-to-select-competition-discs-for-your-frisbee-dog-update/
Thank you for the comment, right now i use- www.amazon.com/Hyperflite-K-10-Competition-Standard-multi/dp/B002SVTLCM/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=standard+frisbee+dog&qid=1554737740&s=gateway&sr=8-1
Crispy chips What a rude comment, this is a great training video, try focusing on what the video is about and keep your lude comments to yourself. Thank you for making this video.

Great video! Very helpful because it's short and gets right to the point. Thanks. I hope you make more like this on dog training. .
Thanks! Im on the right track!
Such a simple and easy video! Can't wait to try this!
This is one of the best videos on training a dog to be a frisbee disk dog! Thanks for a great video.
❤
So did you try it and does it work?
Hey Mr Narrator, you should seriously consider making audio books for children. I'll definitely buy them.

you can try where you play tug with the disc and get them to jump and grab it in your hand
Little dog didn't want any part of that. Lol
Best video dog is smarthly
I love this mix wish I can have one soon but what about barking issue?
they can bark if they have to much energy but if you fetch and play they will bark less after

@@jmerc83 nice, you can try Jaws frisbees for hard biters.. or Hero disc
How long does it take to teach?
You left out the most important step.
Step 1: Get a Border Collie.
I was doing good until step 3 with the 360 when I got dizzy and fell. I guess at 73 I’m to old.
Good video thanks 😊
what about puppy would this work on 5 moth old puppys ?
They will chase it but let them catch it on the ground. Puppys should not be jumping untill 10 months old you can damange thier legs.
ok thx

We taught our first puppy to catch popcorn first. It floats and she developed good mouth eye coordination.
How do u train him to bring it back

How old can you teach dogs to do it
1 year to catch in air

What kind of frisbee are you throwing? It seems to fly slower than mine.
it was a ultimate disc not a dog frisbee, i use Hero's dog frisbee now

how to train like this to my labrador ..same thing as like video ah .
Nice video, but turn the music down.
I did this to my dog but Nothing happen
my dog doesn't care about frisbee, like in the videos
some dogs don't prefer even with training or don't have the right energy level for the game
Oh Wait, you talked about them returning it to you and letting go. Nope not a word.
This doesn't help much...she will take it, and run away with it, if she's fed with it!😂
You can try playing tug with it and fetch training like running away from your dog to get them to chase you
or use second disc to get them back
As to why the dog trainer was not wearing a bra is beyond me!
just a low quility bra :P my new one it works!

It’s a good thing her breasts are none of your damned business.
As for why you don’t have any manners is beyond me.
SagePaw i enjoyed the view and the dog training tips. I just got a kong frisbee for my dog last night
