Went to my LFS and noticed that one of there tanks was absolutely gorgeous. The colors popped and something was so hypnotic about it. I then realized afterwards that it was the only tank with a blue to white gradient light screen and it made sense. Those light screens do magic to make the colors pop in an aquarium.
Stunning!!! The difference is incredible, I'm so impressed with the background lighting. I'd been thinking of a way to light my scapes from behind, this is brilliant.
Hi Ryo, easilife algexit is great for algae, even for planted set ups! I've found having the lights off for an hour during the light cycle helps too, doesn't affect the plants.
Waterflow even promote hair like algaes growth if they are already present in the aquarium , i personally observed it. Same for BBA too. When they have good flow they start lengthening. Maintain decent flow so it may not hamper filtration and also not promote algae bloom. 💕
yeah when i read backlight i remember that one house with couple Aqua design inside maybe your iaplc setup were inspired from there, the looks almost the same and now you have that backlight nice
Amano shrimp are incredible, they do lots of work for you. I've also found the Porcelain Limpet Snails are best at keeping glass clean. They are also low-form breeders' so can put three in a tank and they won't breed like crazy. I've put them in all my tanks and no longer need to scrape the glass :D. Not sure they'd work for taking a competition photo though... would have to really time the shot
Amano shrimps are seriously one of the best especially when you have filamentous algae or hair algae in the tank. I haven’t bought snails to get rid of algae yet but I do want to try getting horned nerite snails as I’ve heard they do a good job with some types of algae.
Hello Ryo, That algae seems weird to me. Cyan alike color seems like cyanobacteria. Macrolid group antibiotics works like bullet and doesnt harmful for filter bacteria.(gram +- issues) Also you can increase nitrogen and co2. Cyano hates nitrogen.
@@krismanputra2549 in japan, we have a product called magic tape. It’s a super sticky Velcro tape and that’s what I used to attach everything to the wall inside the cabinet
Hi ryo thanks for the 5% discount... And may be you can try to on the co2 24/7 keep the ph level stable.... If there is live stock in there you can put a air pump with timer only on after light off period...
I'm resetting my iwagumi tank that was struck by that staghorn algae! I really hope I don't get off to a bad start next! This hobby has its ups and downs
The light screen doesn’t dim automatically. I put it on max brightness and keep it on a timer. The Chihiros Led lights however, have a sunrise and sunset feature which will slowly brighten in the morning and dim at night mimicking nature.
hi ryo. i just wanna ask, for that aquarium size, it is enough by just using tht co2 diffuser? how many bps of co2 are u using? i thnk ur algae problem is maybe due to fluctuating CO2 in the tank. i will suggest u to use co2 reactor/co2 inline diffuser.
Yes, co2 diffuser is enough. Look at all the ADA tanks at the gallery. Even for 6ft (180cm) tanks, they use the glass diffuser. The algae is just a temporary problem and will go away once everything balances out
@@RyoWatanabee wow... thats really good then.. because i never get proper CO2 distribution in large tank with glass diffuser. furthermore by using inline diffuser or reactor, u can use lesser bps compared to glass diffuser. just my humble opinion. by the way love seing ur videos. and may i know, for ur emerge plant farm, r u using any fertilizer? how a bout sun exposure? cuz im planning to do like u.. kudos to u.
Hi Ryo,the reason of this algae is because your aquarium has too much organic matter! It is necessary to suck the substrate during regular water changes to remove excessive organic matter to stop it from happening.
sometimes you need to inspect new plants you buy , hitchhikers algae i would say, even one or twon tiny strain of hair/staghorn can spread like wild fire , even bba spots hiding under leaves
what do you know, got mine from them also. well not yet, but on the way as I bought one customized size of 120x60. Now I'm excited to receive mine as well
Yup, but flying fox get big and will stop eating algae once they get a taste for fish food is what I’ve heard many people say so that’s why I haven’t gotten them.
IQuestion… you stated that “because the water level was low you may be losing Co2” Please explain, in my mind the water being low would keep more Co2 since it’s heavier than air? I really appreciate the look of the light screen. I pulled a tv from the trash in order to recover the light screens from it to build one for one of my tanks
Thank you, yes you’ll lose co2 because when the water level is lower, the filter outflow will splash more water and that results in you losing co2. If you look at my outflow lily pipe, you’ll see that it’s splashing water.
@@RyoWatanabee but isn’t that splash causing air exchange? And if it’s lower and holding more Co2 because Co2 is heavier then air, isn’t the air being exchanged including that resting Co2?
Right now there’s two ways you’re introducing O2 into the water…. What the plants are exchanging and the air exchange from the top water movement. The Co2;diffuser isn’t introducing the Co2 directly into the water but rather through the air exchange in the top water… If your top level is lower leaving more room for the Co2 to accumulate then reason shows that the extra Co2 is being introduced by that top water movement. This is my understanding. Please, if I’m wrong correct my logic.
@@RyoWatanabee are you reasoning that the splash is forcing that accumulated Co2 over the rim allowing the surrounding air to replace it? If that’s the case then wouldn’t it only be the Co2 in that splash zone specifically being forced out? Do the inline defusers actually incorporate the Co2 directly into the water column? If what you believe is true then wouldn’t a spray bar defused off the glass a better option than the Lily Pipe? Also wouldn’t simply lowering that Lily Pipe output eliminate that problem? Is it a good idea to consider a autofill system in order to keep the level as a constant and removing that variable completely?
Cool video Ryo. I've been hunting for that ADA Superjet 1200 but it's all sold out here in the UK. Do you know if there's any good supplier from Japan that can ship it to the UK?
That’s normal. My stem plants also grow aerial roots after sometime. It means there’s not enough nutrients in the substrate and water column. Need to add more fertilisers in your tank.
Hé Ryo, The screen looks awesome! Do you start you're Co2 injection a couple of hours before the lights come on? That helped me a lot with algae. It helps the levels fluctuate less. It took some time getting it fine tuned though.
Agree with this suggestion….reduce lighting duration and intensity….add a bunch of fast growing floaters, this will reduce light intensity too…good luck

I don't understand: Why would you take off your heater during the summer months? Doesn't it have a thermostat? If that is true, then I fail to see the saving or even common sense of taking it off... The thermostat would ensure that it never comes on during periods where the temperature is above the setting.
Yes there’s a thermostat but why keep it in the tank if it’s not going to turn on? I’d rather store it and preserve it so that it last longer. Benefits: No need to worry about algae growing on your heater and having to clean it, preserve the suction cup lifespan, and less equipment in tank = better looking tank. Just my opinion
