That scene with Nanachi, right before the title screen, really hits hard. It feels so powerful, when you consider what value you keep with you as you go through life. The people you've connected with, the things you've done and seen, the feeling experienced. All....value.
*POTENTIAL SPOILER* (theory only) There's a theory that the reason reg lost his memories was because he saved riko back in episode 1. If you remember from the movie, there's a brief moment where reg and nanachi talk about the symbol that shows up on regs helmet every time he puts it on. In the scene, they theorize that the diminishing symbol means that reg has a limited number of uses for his incinerator. Some people believe that when reg saved riko in episode 1, he supposedly used his last remaining shot, which caused the memory loss. This is also why reg couldn't help faputa right away when they met and said, "I don't know that'll happen to me the next time I fire it." Then riko recharged him in the orphanage with the electric chair, and he got recharged again fighting bondrewd.
Ya. That's my assumption, in the flashback he says he can't use his incinerator... and then he saves riko in the first episode with the incinerator, and loses all function until she hooks him up to the orphanages electricity. So I think he lost his memory as a result of completely depleting his energy.
Yeah, I believe that was my theory from first watch. It makes sense that he could get reset once all the power was gone. Like an old laptop I had. If the power got disconnected, it would practically factory reset.
you right maybe Reg in his function has volatile memory instead of non-volatile, mean that he only can store memories while he still has enough power and memories gone if his power dropped below his limit (symbol counter)
Yeah, Faputa's here to wreck shop! The no win scenario. I found the way the animators animated Faputa both so adorable and terrifying. Good to see Nanachi back in the fight but sad to see Mitty and her having to split up again and those little "friends" brought her a gift. Aww.. The mystery of "Reg" continues... Is it a coincidence?
Reg lost all his memories either: 1- because he "ran out of batteries" from his incinerator, remember that the first scene in this anime is Riko being saved by an Incinerator shot from offscreen, and then she finds Reg, who won't wake up in any form for almost half a day, not his regular 2 hours. 2- The electric shock Riko induced in him to try and make him wake up, which did supply him enough to refill his batteries, but MIGHT be why he lost his memories either way.... becaaause We know from the movie, Reg had like 3 shots left in him, then he went and sucked the energy from Idofront. That didn't ERASE his memory, but temporarely gave control of his body to "one of many someones" inside him. He only reverted back when Nanachi reminded him of her fluffyness, something he liked.
When Reg takes off in the flashback, 16:13 - his cloak has a symbol on it that looks exactly like the star compass. Also it seems he's carrying Blaze Reap
Reg and Faputa, a Knight and his Princess. They promised to be together, but he lost all his memory after draining his battery rescuing Riko in Season 1 Episode 1.
You know. Thinking about it now. If Riko would have just let Nat get eaten (sorry Nat buddy) we would have gotten a lot of answers faster and could have speed run a lot of suffering in this show haha.
Made in Abyss has a lot of themes based around rebirth and reincarnation, with the Abyssal faith directly claiming that souls travel to the bottom of the Netherworld, change its shape and start a new journey. That said, there's a pretty fascinating theory that Reg is actually the reincarnation of Riko's dog, which is why he had the name Reg even before Riko gave it to him. Somebody did a break down of the theory over on Reddit which was discussed by someone here on youtube. Made in Abyss has surprised me enough times that I'm not willing to put money on any theories turning out to be true, but the theories themselves are just as amazing and fun to explore as the series is, so I don't really care if any of them actually end up canon.
Here we reach the peak, Faputa is determined, just like GABU said, it is part of her nature and how she was made, she needs to do this, the citizens are confused between appreciating her and defending themselves. wazukian is defending his point of view, sacrificing himself to protect the village until the end. But believe me, it gets worse and better at the same time.
What an incredible episode! Faputa is such an interesting character, and her relationship with Reg is fascinating to watch. One of the best episodes of the Season!
Very hard to decide indeed. But I tend to tilt more towards Faputa. The pain Irumyuii went through is almost immeasurable and I thought Riko would be at least a bit conflicted about picking a side after hearing her story. I guess her loyal personality made her side with the villagers after getting to know them. Frustrating but understandable.
Like he said, he didnt know what was going to happen if he fired his incinerator again....and the first thing he did on getting to the surface was shoot it to protect riko. he basically ran out of power, which probably is why hes lost memories.
There is zero indication of this. Nat make a comment in episode...2 I think? that she couldn't even hide the dog. There is NO way she was hiding her moms dog since she was 2 years old. It couldn't have been Lyza's dog. i have my own theories, but they rely on a lot of unfounded speculations. But there is no good evidence for the dog Reg to have belonged to Lyza as you are describing.
This shit was more bloodier and grisly than Invincible. But the animation was popping. Poor Nanachi, she doesn’t deserve none of that pain😢😢.
Adorable creatures pulling out their guts cutely... Oh wait, Happy Tree Friends?

Yep… this series resonate with so much and nothing will ever resonate as much as this…
Faputa's VA is truly on another level.
Her voice was absolutely destroyed every week for this role!
If they don't play Hanazeve Caradhina at my funeral, im not dying
Dude I was so hyped up watching that scene in this episode for the first time when I realised they brought back Hanezeve Caradhina.

15:35 Truer words have never been spoken about Made in Abyss.

And what do you think that Fluffiness was actually reminding him of NOW? :3

Revenge given form is the cutest thing ever

wazukian is defending his point of view, sacrificing himself to protect the village until the end.
But believe me, it gets worse and better at the same time.
Faputa VA blew out her vocal chords doing this performance, and tbh she shoulda won VA of the year over Eren's VA
Writing on this show is from another world. It's just something else.

17:20 And, real words about life anywhere.
Nanachi has to lose her treasure yet again 🥲Rip Mitty

and she built little stone Regs because she missed him, her HAKU, so much 😭
Riko named Reg after a OLD dog that she had wen little.
The most likely is that was Liza dog and she named reg the same way
There is zero indication of this.

CINE
😍Dani🥰
Riko only got her dog AFTER Lisa went for her Last Dive, so she couldn't have know the dog, the plot is EVEN thicker :)
