I've found Microtech's (and Hinderer's) warranty to amount to little more than knife day-care. I send them my knife, they keep it for a week or so then send it back in exactly the same state I sent it to them in. Granted, it's been a couple years since I've owned a Microtech, so it very well could have changed, but Hinderer's warranty is still completely ineffectual, in my recent experience.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Very informative. I own two microtechs, a fixed blade-socom alpha mini and a stitch, hopefully I will not have to use their warranty.
I have 2 Microtechs..a cypher and an ultratech..had them for 6 months and a year...both which I carried and fidgeted with..a lot..haven't had that issue yet but fingers crossed! Makes me wonder if they have an issue in manufacturing the smaller knife variants
I have the same Exocet bounty hunter.... new paid $9 to send it back to them a few weeks later this past week got it back. Worse it opened and will not close.
I am not sure they mechanically actually do anything to knives they service. At best they may just clean it out and send it back. Sometimes parts need to be replaced to make something functional again, and that is not happening.
I agree... clean it out and off it goes. I contacted the dealer I purchased it from hols him he is taking to back and replacing with another new Microtech and not an Exocet. Its not a problem for him But I am out $18 shipping on a brand new knife.... Disgrace for Microtech. Won't buy another that is for sure it was my first.
Bruh…. Double action Otf knives are SIMPLE to take apart and reassemble so if your planning on collecting a few of these type of knives you should become familiar with the insides of otf knives in general because EVERY one of them no matter what company makes them will all require maintenance…. And you cant always count on EVERY company to offer warranty’s or service for their knives …. The good thing though is that most double action otf knives are SO simple to service theres really NOTHING to them once you open them up…. its like…… REALLY ???? thats it ???? theres like 3 pieces lol …. Most people think there will be an EXPLOSION of parts and pieces and springs flying EVERYWHERE as soon as they open the knife lol …. But nope thats not the case at all :) the hardest one ive ever come across is my Halo v but the extra large spring is what makes it difficult to reassemble not the amount of pieces…. And then theres my Benchmade infidel which is alittle different then the average otf when you open it up but its still pretty simple to reassemble…. but over all most otf knives have the same design or mechanism inside which is simple to service yourself
Don’t feel bad mine is brand new just got it, the next day it got jammed up and won’t deploy with tension still on trigger 360$ knife dead within 24 hours 😭
Don't worry!! You can send your brand new extremely high-end knife back to them. They will fix it and you can have it back in a month🙄 fucking yards. When a knife fails day 1 before you even cut anything, they should express ship you a new one with a return envelope for the defective unit. But hey, you only paid 300 for a pocket knife so what do you expect? Great product, just a terrible company.
When you sent it back you should have asked them to verify which steel was used for your particular blade. I also would have asked if they replaced the blade or repaired the original. I would absolutely want to know this. After all you did pay upwards of $300 for it.
It seems that mine has the same problem exactly at the time I was watching your video since I got it in the mail a few minutes before watching this and decided to pull slightly on the blade an it refused to deploy!
I can hardly believe it but immediately upon receiving the knife back from warranty service it did the same thing again after only three or so open/closes!!!
If alcohol is causing color to wear off that mans its cheap work...it means its not done properly. My Titan Bestech OTF was for 2 days in alcohol just for cleaning and not even close to losing color.
@@CoyoteEDC but its very strange..cause if you have colored aluminium, high quality, then only way how to take out the paint is to physically scrub it. Or scratch it with something more dense.
You let them off the hook. 18 days is not that bad to get a knife that works. Ummmm you should have expected a knife that works when you dropped nearly 4 bills on that thing lol we give these companies to much of a pass. If I buy a knife at Walmart for 12.97 and it falls, that's ok... For 350 more????? Yeah, not ok
What good is this knife? It's big, bulky and the blade is pretty limited. I do not get this... I think people buy anything their favorite company puts out. Apple is releasing a piece of dogshit in September, better get your pre orders in or you won't get one😆
Little trail Coyote I know it's crazy your name What's with all these California legal weak woman blades you only woman blade you should be buying is the herra artist design

Well, my Exocet is back on its way to Microtech again as we speak, I hope it works out this time!
This made me feel safer in sending my jedi knight, back for sharpen and litle bit lighter spring. Thank u m8
I am sure it will be ok!
Had one last year, didn't have a good feeling about it and returned it. Glad I did
I almost purchased one of these exocet. Glad i watched this. Will keep looking 👍🏻 Thanks
So, did they ever get it fixed?
I love the Microtech Chode. But, not if it is chronically flaccid...
Nope after 3 trips to Mircotech, I gave up, it sits on the shelf and I gaze at it periodically as a reminder to not buy anymore Microtechs.
@@CoyoteEDC That's a major bummer. Well, more money for other knives!
Hey Microtech, this isn't 1997! There's no reason you can't get it up in 2022...
Thanks for sharing your experience. Very informative. I own two microtechs, a fixed blade-socom alpha mini and a stitch, hopefully I will not have to use their warranty.
Dang, I have 4 MicroTech Ultratechs and have had zero problems. My oldest is about 7yrs old and my newest is about a week old.

I hope mine was just a lemon!

Wow so many people have issues with this knife. Shame Microtech.

I wish they would make that Bounty Hunter in a D/E blade.
They probably have to legally tell customers not to ship USPS because it's federally restricted. UPS and FedEx are privately owned.
Good point there, I am sure that is it.

I had a combat troodon spring break and a halo 6 button break from factory got it back with so much blade play I sold it
I bought the clone for $40.00 on Aliexpress. Love it!
lol

Mine broke again as well, shortly after filming this. I am going to get tired of sending it back to Microtech
I can hardly believe it but immediately upon receiving the knife back from warranty service it did the same thing again after only three or so open/closes!!!
Great video! Love my purple Exocet. Sorry yours is messed up
😭

I think it's just paint on this model, so once my hands started to get red I stopped messing with it

So much said for such an expensive knife🤔.. best stick to my spydercos..😊
LOL, coincidentally, this knife is currently on it's third trip back to Microtech. Let's see how they do this time!
@@CoyoteEDC little poor, rich knife 😱
hello :)
great video , do you have play in blade with this exocet ? Merci d'avance 🙏👍
un pouce bleu mérité :):)
Not very much play at all when it is locked open.
very thx coyotetrails :) great knife u have here ☺️👍
