As a real airplane Pilot like your self I jokingly say airplane Driver referencing my self. I have been flying since 1972. I really appreciate that you use the flight sim to introduce real world scenarios that take place in every day flying. To engage flight simmers as well as those that may want to explore professional aviation. I think your channel can become a great asset to aspiring Pilots. keep up the Great work! Remember: FMA not Score Board!
Thanks and I appreciate your support and your support for times when I say things like scoreboard. I like bringing the two together. My channel banner says merging the real world with Flight Sim 2020. I have said to a few people it would have been nice to have youtube when I was learning to fly. Lots of good info. I try hard to keep things by the book as much as possible just as if I was still instructing.
Nice video. As a type rated CJ4 pilot, I would add after Gear Up, Vapp until 400 ft AGL or clear of obstacles, whichever is higher. Keep up the good work.
@@thecorporatepilotdad We usually cruise around Mach .75 at FL450. That usually gives us the most efficient fuel consumption on a two hour flight. It’s a thirsty airplane and has the highest thrust to weight ratio of any corporate jet in the world.
Agree, with the mod, a/c is really good and now my goto a/c. My main issue seems to be convincing the a/c to descend outside of fmc flight plan in vnav.. with a TOD marker, the CJ4 behaves. eg. ATC say descend from 30,000 to 24,000 etc. My main success is with VS and set it at say 2000 fpm. What would your usual method of climb/descent be?
If not in a VNAV descent the commonly used descent mode is VS. 1500 fpm is a normal rate of descent but in the real world we will do 3-4000 fpm if needed with passengers.
There are seven steps for doing a missed approach in the CJ4 as I was taught at Flight Safety when I did my initial check out. You need to establish the procedural flow every time all the time for the missed. I have a diagram that makes it easy, but I cannot attach it here.
I use VR when I play for fun but not for videos. When I screen record in VR it makes a left and right image that has to be cropped which makes for not so great quality in full screen mode.
@@thecorporatepilotdad Do you recommend me getting Oculus 2 for my CPL training and soon IFR ? even though I will have to reduce the quality of graphics a lot ?
@@Shamdouh1 For fun, yes, but for serious flight training, no. FS2020 is good for procedural training but not a lot else in my opinion. It can hinder your muscle memory in the real airplane since the joystick/yoke on the PC will have a totally different feel. If you want to practice holds, approaches, etc, you can do that in flat screen mode or VR but flat screen mode will have better clarity and it will be easier to manipulate buttons and switches. I use VR for fun. I use FS20202 for fun. I don't do a lot with it that I can take into a real airplane other than reviewing avionics or systems that I may be talking about in a video that I have not dealt with in a while.
@@thecorporatepilotdad Yes, I don’t use it to learn how to feel the controls, but more to keep maneuvers and emergency procedures fresh in mind, as it is getting difficult to fly in winter and covid. Also, I use it to get familiar with the new locations and airports as I am preparing for my 300 nm.
@@Shamdouh1 You're right, it would help for doing x-c flights to unfamiliar airports. I have used FS2020 for new airports. It's a great way to learn some landmarks in the area and approaches. I just meant to be careful to not develop a muscle memory. I fly with my right hand and throttle on the left in FS2020 and reverse of that in real life. I've seen guys say make a cockpit as identical to the real airplane and I am against that personally.

Looking forward to the missed approach session. All the best.

You're right. I did say Vapp but I don't think I specified when to accelerate beyond that.
Do you cruise at a given Mach or TAS in the CJ4? Whichever one you use, what is a normal cruise speed?

I don’t fly a CJ4 but I do have all the training material and manuals for the CJ4. This is meant for MSFS and general procedures used.
Another great video!!
Do I have to request vectors from atc when flying traffic patterns while flying a go around in the cj4? Or do i just fly it like a guessing game?
Are you still using the VR or you are back to screens ?

I don’t have the mod and I’m on Xbox so idk how to do this
You can do go arounds but the FMS in the default aircraft will not fly published missed approaches.
