  • Seven directors who helmed some of the best and most popular films and shows on Netflix this year sat down with #RajeevMasand for the #DirectorsRoundtable2021. Neeraj Ghaywan (Geeli Pucchi in Ajeeb Daastaans), Chaitanya Tamhane (The Disciple), Leena Yadav (House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths), Vinay Waikul (Aranyak), Basil Joseph (Minnal Murali), Nandini Reddy (Meera in Pitta Kathalu), and Raghav Subbu (Kota Factory Season 2) explained how they leave their stamp on material they haven't necessarily conceived, revealed what is the one quality all good directors must possess, and spoke candidly about why it's a privilege directing in this streaming age.

Haven't seen any of the movie or show they are here for , But enjoying listening them. Nobody is giving long answers or trying to give funny answers like some actors did in actor's roundtable.

It's so mesmerising listening to the directors, I have always loved knowing about the process of film making and to get to know it from these amazing directors themselves is a priviledge. The questions were very well qurated and everyone got to share their unique methods and stories and working styles. Amongst them I love Neeraj Ghaywan, especially because of his realisation of patriarchy and his films have always given me hope.

My takeaway from the roundtable: I liked your choice of questions for the roundtable - Thank you, Rajeev.
Through your Video I had the opportunity to meet some of Indias fine directors since I have already watched Basils #MM and I know his past projects not only as an actor but also as a director - he was already on my list of favourites! but I am also very much impressed by Vinay's wisdom - a humble, experienced and very sympathetic personality! Well anyway, only three directors in this round have impressed me, through their answers to your questions.
    1. Vinay Waikul - Aranyak
    2. Basil Joseph - Minnal Murali
    3. Leena Yadav - House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths
These three projects truly made the finale of 2021 entertaining. Thank you for your vision and work on this. Wish you all a happy 2022!

To be honest I have an inspiration to become a director myself since I have seen movies that really alters my perspective how directors could be able to represent their thoughts and perception through certain stories but I hate to tell you that as long as they don't acknowledge the fact that lack of writing that rendering them affected specifically in bollywood movies. I doubt that such roundtable matters at all. However, regional (south indian) movies are making movies with good stories even though not good budgeted for example *minnal murali*. That was something.

The way each of the director described their stories vision from Masan to kota factory I realised what persona and perspectives can build such a huge success to our a movie or story .
I really appreciate Rajeev for bringing such diverse director in this table
