Milhouse at least has some very niche use in call to arms or pulling it from an rng effect like Piloted Shredder.

@@simonenc4065 that's a 3 card combo that could be done even more efficiently with just Whirlwind and Execute, aside from fringe cases where a minion is magic immune.
@@digiquo8143 Well, Bolf + Deathspeaker (3 mana 2/4 Battlecry: Give a friendly minion Immune this turn.) could combo well with those weapons that let you attack multiple times or any effect that severely hurts your hero
Also the tavern brawl where you are cooping to beat a boss and you must buff your bolf or you get your ass whooped
Also, when I'm in the mood to have fun and run a deck with Prince Malchezar, I'd much rather see Bolf than something like Dr. Morrigan.

Story about a Dr. Morrigan fail:
I was playing ladder earlier this week against an elemental shudderwock shaman who used that spell that gives dwathrattle: summon a minion that costs 1 more on a blazecaller. That deathrattle became the Dr. Morrigan and when I killed it, Dr. Morrigan switched places with the shudderwock which the guy clearly hadn't drawn yet. Since I was playing control warrior, it was an easy dispatch. Dr. Morrigan literally lost that poor dude the game.
Yes, I hate getting Morrigan in Evolve. But Goya is OK since it doesn't get switched by another minion from my deck or hand.
Morrigan is good in plot twist warlock though with Betrug and Dorian.

Blizzard should do a Tavern Brawl where all they do is buff these terrible meme cards to absurdity so that their effects are similar in flavor but now they're some of the best cards in the game.
Then everyone can fight it out with the memiest of decks.
I had an idea like that. Use a fairly simple system, calculate the 50% least played cards in the meta (Blizzard has said in the past they have ready access to tons of data like this), add a random buff to them (+1 Attack or Health, 1 less cost, etc.). Affected cards in your Collection would have a green or other special color of 'glow' to indicate they've been buffed. And then you build a deck and go.
Could end up in some suddenly broken stuff but that's fine in Tavern Brawl. It might even give Blizzard some data on what card buff methods work out the best and what might suddenly turn an unused card into a ubiquitous one.

Agreed. Land Keleseth or Soul Infusion and this card doesn't belong on this list. Also, I recall most control warriors running Bolf for a while after TGT and it seemed to fit well there. Otherwise the top 10 is pretty spot on.
Damn right. If you just look at the recipe for Warlock.... Give all demons in your hand +1/+1 ; give the left-most minion in your hand +2/+2 ; spirit, of course (and numerous other cards not in the recipe). Morrigan isn't THAT bad either tbh, Kripp just described it as an 8 mana 5/5, but completely forgot to mention that it can very well be an 8 mana 5/5 AND anything above 4 mana (assuming it's a 4/5, that's already a 9/10 for 8 mana). Not just that, but Morrigan can be played several times.

@@MarkOfTzeentch Its a more highrolly cairne, which was a 6 mana 4/5 with a 'similar' deathrattle that saw play in the past. Could also use it to cheat out voidlords and such from your deck like a possessed lackey. Not saying its good, but its not the effect that sucks its just overpriced

I agree with everything but Hemet. Hearthstone needs a counter to all the races. A demon killer, a pirate killer, and the beast killer!
I guess he could find a place in the game now, there are beasts for all classes (raven familiar for the mage, direhorn for warrior, etc)
Plus he has the surprise factor. I'm not saying he's any good, but Millhouse didn't even manage to appear in the list so...

My first pack legendary from classic was Illidan. My first pack legendary from knights of the frozen throne was Moorabi. My first pack legendary from Dr. Boom's lab was Morrigan. Then I quit the game.

My first classic legendary was Deathwing. Playing against other new opponents back in the Naxx days it was actually pretty broken.
How is Harbringer Celestia only at #4? I would much rather have a Boggeymonster over that piece of trash any day.

I mean it technically can be a good tech card if minionless decks or decks with only big minions are popular. Boogymonster is actually just a bad pile of stats.

I got a golden Boogie Monster back when. Initially I was excited to dust it and craft Dr. Boom, but then I got to looking at it, and realized that the animation was so cool that I just couldn’t bring myself to destroy it. It’s still sitting in my collection.
they literally remade boogymonster in to a new card that actually worked with that ability. all it needs is rush and it might have been decent

Quick Dr Morrigan fix: Put a demon tribe on her. The interaction with skull of manari, sacrificial pact (Turn 8 heal 5 summom random card from your deck) and sense demons could make this card decent for the low status.

Hireek is not a bad card in itself, if they add any synergy it can get crazy. Flame Leviathan isn't the worst either. At least compared to shit like Millhouse that can lose you the game on the spot - but it didn't get a spot on this list somehow.

@Eyecanic it's not the same, wtf are you talking about? Hireek could be buffed to e.g. 6/6s that are outside of range of most board clears, if there were any decent helper cards. The idea is ok, the execution poor, but that might change even next expansion.

Actually, there is a slight synergy between duskfallen aviana and harbinger celestia. If you play both of them on same turn, opponent will forced to play small minion or hard removal spell on their next turn. Because if they first play is big minion, it will get copied by celestia..
Or they just get a free spell, weapon, or hero power
WowHobbs was playing Moorabi recently in a freeze Shaman deck, he works pretty well along side Zentimo :P

My favorite legendary is Majordomo Executus, I know its bad but its so fun to play and I make lots of different decks trying to make it work each expansion in wild. I've had most success with druid and the armor spells and innervate to get it out with Barnes early. Got it to rank 15 a few times!
Boogeymonster would be playable and possibly even good if Blizzard just gave it Rush and have it be a neutral Darius Crowly.
And give it whenever this kills a Minion so I'd can be taunted up to be an unkillable taunt
And or make it gain +3/+3 since +2/+2 is too small
Tricksterking +2/+2 is fine, it works well for Crowley, and Boogeymonster has better starting stats. +3/+3 could be too strong tbh.

@@digiquo8143 As someone who has used boogey monster I inform you that if an opponent attacks a minion into it and their minion dies, boogey does not gain any stats and +3/+3 is perfectly fine amount of stats for it to gain. Otherwise it really is just a worse Grull

Where is Majordomus? And Millhouse Manastorm? Temporus? These are cards that looses you the game almost always the turn after you played it. And how is Aviana the fallen on rank 10 on your list when loosing the next turn (like you explained). She is so much worse than having a bolf who is rank 1 on your list and who is not that horrible after all. Some other cards on your list like Anomalus surely dont see any play at all but dont seem to be bad enough for a top 10 worst-legendary-list. They could be easiely replaced with some of the many understatted cards that do exist (Acidmaw, Bolvar, ...).
As much as I share your hype about bad legendary kripp, and as much as I do like the idea of this video, I really dont agree with the cards on the list.
Overlordsen Majordomo STILL sees play today and it’s not a bad Card if you use it correctly. Same goes for temporus. Millhouse.... myeah. I have had games where it literally won me the game because my opponent had no spells... but obviously only in arena.

Crazy, i actually liked and put a lot of use with Bolf, it even won me some games with a Warlock deck, back in that time the healing factor was pretty hard to get, and Warlock needed it. Have Jaraxxus activated and in the next turn play Bolf, was the lock in so many games...

Hi'reek - You forgot about buffing it with soul infusion. You could also use Grim Rally to destroy one of the (possible) 5/5s and turn the other 6 into 6/6s. You could also use Rat Catcher on one to gain an 8/8 with Rush for 3 mana. Another possibility is Void Terror which would give you a 15/15 for 3 mana (not too shabby!).
Crafted Moorabi day 1 because I hoped Freeze Shaman would be at least decent. Jebaited

I once got a decent Hemet play. Was playing midrange value mage when GvG had just come out, against paladin - this was at very low ranks (like 18-20 or so), so my opponent was playing a pretty rook deck. In any case, I'm going first, and on turn 3 I drop a Kirin Tor Mage against a Dire Wolf Alpha. Opponent drops a Dire Wolf Alpha, trades, then drops Young Dragonhawk, coin, Divine Protection. I've got no way to take care of it straight away in hand, and it's currently representing at least 4 damage, but potentially a buttload more depending on what opponent has in hand (ie. 10 with a single Blessing of Might). So I opt to Unstable Portal instead, and hit Hemet - and thanks to the 3 mana discount, am able to take care of the problem immediately, getting a nice little 2-for-none (given that I took out 2 cards with a battlecry).
Of course, I never would've run Hemet otherwise, and it was amazing that he actually came out on the perfect turn and with an Unstable Portal discount to provide something even remotely decent. The evaluation here is fair, but thanks to cards that gave RNG minions like Unstable Portal, there are some very wicked plays with fringe cards like Hemet.

Did you forget about the Majordomo?
Domo has OTK combo potential. It’s not good but it did work in a couple of tier 3 decks back in the day
You can use Majordomo in a deck that has a 512 damage otk, that’s not a bad card!
I have a wild deck right now that runs domo with the priest quest to make you a 40 health ragnaros and its pretty fun.
I think Majordormo falls under his "bad, but cool" category, saving it from any worst lists.
Majordomo is not from a pack. It is from an adventure.

Thanks for ripping open the wounds I had when I got #10, 8 and 7 ! it really HURT getting those, more a punish than a reward... had the same feeling recently with Illidan and in the earlier days with "my number 1": Lorewalker Cho ! I received him again and again, till I stopped dusting him because nowadays you get a "legendary you don't already have in your collection" !! had to learn it the hard way with this never-see-in-play-card (unless maybe in a mill-deck or as a random-summon)

Pagle was nerfed because he was used in literally every deck though. He used to trigger at end of your turn and so got a ton of value back when draw was more limited.
Amusingly, Bolf very recently won a game for me. As Wild Mage I was in dire trouble and I cast Power of Creation and two Bolfs came to the rescue. Keep in mind this is more than just 18 extra health. If you have a Bolf with one health remaining and someone attacks you with a 5-power minion Bolf still takes ALL the damage. It was glorious.

How did you Com up with the ranking?
Even though the idea of the cards arguably gets worse the higher the card is on your ranking, but in my opinion, Duskfallen Aviana is much less playable than most of the other mentioned cards. Just as you put it, you get a free win but the opponent gets theirs first. Others have worse stats but don't have further disadvantages.
But I liked it the way you explain the (meta) background. Keep up the work!

Yo, yo! Anomalus was awesome in Kazakus Mage during the year of the Mammoth. I normally skip Standard Ladder, but I made rank 5 with Anomalus in my deck. Anomalus into Jaina was a two turn board clear and full heal, back when the ubiquity of Bonemare basically guarantueed a minion to trade into.

I remember using Bolf to tank fatigue damage from a brann bronzebeard+coldlight oracle. Since Bolf would only die after the entire battlecry had been executed he could end up saving you around 20 health.
also surely Madam Goya deserves to be on this list or did someone figure out a use for her?

Great list Kripp! I personally don't think Hireek the Bat is that bad, I certainly know that there are some worse ones out there than him. But I was Honestly expecting Sherazin, the Corpse Flower to be on this list instead. I guess its such a bad card that nobody even remembers it :D Good luck on the new Year of the Dragon.

Nowadays, it would be a decent card since beast decks are a thing.
As Kripp stated, back then, the game was about stats, and mana. Beasts were "premium" stats, meaning if you had a beast card, it would cost roughly 1 mana more. What I mean by that is, the standard GOOD 3 mana card would be 3/4, but if it's a beast, it could be a 2/2 beast, 1/4 beast with taunt etc.
As such, a deck could even have 0 beast on it, since it was super garbage. Because of that, along with Hemet could be killed by a 2 mana minion, it was downright stupid to even include Hemet in your deck.
@@estoylaroca Nope. Still a terrible card. Sure, in the best case it kills a thing, but for 6 mana you get a minion with 3 health so the tempo gain is neglectible. Even in its best case scenario it's barely better than a Siphon Soul, and you usually don't want to play Siphon Soul against a beast hunter.

Still, you obviously don't play Hemet for tempo. Same reason no one plays bgh for tempo.
like a year ago a bug existed where neither bolf or your hero would take any damage when using bloodbloom + another spell. I really liked this combo to confuse my opponents. Sadly they fixed it...

SO MANY of these, like 5 at least (Hi'reek, Morrigan, Duskfallen Aviana, some others) were my first legendaries of new expansions when I opened my batch of packs. I'm not kidding. Like at LEAST half.
I feel this list should be bigger than 10. Here are some more terrible Legendaries, either terrible because their effect can actively lose you the game, or because they just shouldn't have been legendary:
-Acidmaw
-Bolvar Fordragon (original one, new one is actually ok)
-Flark's Boom-Zooka
-Griftah
-Lakkari Sacrifice
-Madam Goya (fringe uses, but mostly awful)
-Maexxna
-Majordomo Executus
-Millhouse Manastorm
-Both Nat Pagles (but mostly the Darkfisher)
-Sergeant Sally
-The Beast
And some honorable mentions (not as hopeless, but nonetheless notably bad):
-Don Han'Cho (debatable)
-Lorewalker Cho (though useful for mythbusting videos and stuff)
-Mayor Noggenfogger (though admittedly super fun)
-Moroes
-Ozruk
-Swamp King Dred (although playable in some fringe big Hunter decks)
-The Skeleton Knight
-The Voraxx
-Wilfred Fizzlebang
fact is that some cards are printed to fill classes with bad resources, given the power stage said class is sitting on.
warlock was dominant with DK and K&C support so he had some rly bad stuff like Dr. M. and its loa.
another thing that i would like to discuss is: stealthed minions are supposed to be "insivible" at a first sight right? so why does the opponent get to see wich minion it is? isn't it way more obvious to not reveal wich minion is there nor its effects/stats? this way harbinger celestia could have some play (but even tho it would be too hard, lets say that we have the previous mentioned effect for stealth minions, then because this is not the card you see everyday, your opponent wouldn't be expecting such trap, and then he/she falls for it; either could be it or just give us the choise to copy or not.....).
Printing bad cards to offset powerful classes has historically led to really jarring balance shifts when the rotation hits. I'd much rather cards like these, esp legendaries, be at least average power level. Strong decks like Even Warlock or Cubelock wouldn't care about stronger iterations of Dr. Morrigan or Hir'eek, but it could have allowed for other, weaker archetypes to actually make use of them. MAYBE they'll add more support for either of them in future sets, but either way it's a pretty flimsy reason to print such unimpressive cards.
@@ZackBogucki I kinda lost my faith when it comes about "giving support to old useless cards". April usually -try to- dictates an all brand new meta - like quests or even/odd - but i dont belive any of the old stuff will have any support at all, just new resources to deal with. I just pray that we dont have any of those OTK/COMBO stuff, this is by far my most hated archetype.
@@duelponzac Yeah I feel ya. Just based on past experience, it's much more likely to go the Freeze Shaman or Big Hand Druid routes. It's a shame to see so many cool ideas over the years get introduced without ever being fully explored.

majodormo would have been my first answer if someone on the street asked me for the worst legendary ever^^
They have... some... use. Majordomo's a little harder to vouch for, but it does give you 8 damage for a turn and opponents likely can't deal the 15 dmg as soon as it's out to kill you. Acidmaw could've been used for board clears, so that one isn't completely useless and it doesn't lose you the game

It's sad that i dont think i ever got more than a quarter of the legendaries in an expansion but I have almost all of these
Dr. Morrigan still better than Madam Goya imo.
Goya is cheaper and a battlecry, it was even in a decent deck once (look up goya shaman). Morrigan probably too slow to ever get abused
I hate getting Dr Morrigan on Evolve though coz of the chance of pulling Shudderwock or some key card, but Mme Goya is ok to get in evolve.
It’s frustrating that most of these are so high costed. They feel like last minute additions that weren’t play tested enough so team 5 played it safe.

Hard proof Hearthstone is pay to win. Useless, non-competitive legendary pack fillers to further devalue your packs.
I try to disagree with these posts. But damn the are so many unplayable cards in every expansion, every class, every rarity. What's the point of 9/10 of cards being awful, if they're not pack filler?

Wouldn't Moorabi be decent as a Mage class card? Maybe not as 6/4/4 but I can see it slightly working since Mage has much more freeze spells than Shaman.
Just gonna post wall-of-text thoughts because I got nothing better to do atm:
Flame Leviathan - I wonder if this has any use in a Tempo Mage. I mean, once you got Aluneth out it's just a free 2 damage in your deck. Odd Paladin is relevant enough even in Wild that I could maybe see it. It's a 7/7 on top of that. Okay it's still pretty bad but I don't think it's quite Top 10 Worst Legendaries Ever.
Anomalous - It's not that bad. It saw play in some hyper-committed control Mage decks that just needed another sweeper, at times when sweepers were low for the class. But maybe it's right for it to be on the list, just by the sad virtue of it costing 8; at 7 or less you'd at least have Frost Nova plays and such.
Moorabi - an ultimate example of the meme phrase 'has potential, needs support'. If Freeze Shaman ever works, Moorabi could be pretty damn good. But how does Freeze Shaman ever work. I think Blizzard has given up on trying and, thus, yeah this deserves to be in the list.
Dr. Morrigan - There's some sort of combo here. I know there is. There's been too many similar combos lately for me to doubt the possibility. I just fear infinite stuff too much right now, HS has done that to me. This is one of those sleeper cards Blizzard might accidentally wake up by adding one or two of just the right card. But for now, yeah, bad.
Hir'eek, the Bat - Blizzard's been showing signs of leaning towards handbuff Warlock mechanics, a good amount of that being in the past year and won't be rotated out. The mechanic has seen a little success, though mostly around the Doubling Imp. I think it's likely this design trend continues. I know I know, still terrible right now and that's what matters, but I think this one has a ton more chance of becoming relevant than the last two cards mentioned.
Harbinger Celestia - Completely agree. I can't imagine what ever makes this work, in the present or future. It just... doesn't make any sense. I mean I guess if you Rush it (and surrender the nonsensical Stealth buff) and get the health down low enough that you don't care what it turns into, okay, but there are far better minions to give Rush to.
Hemet Nesingwary - Good against 1/9 of the classes, and in a couple of metas in the past, 2/9. I mean Secret counter-tech has 3/9 pretty consistently and is usually made to be quite powerful if it does go off, so it's worth it but only barely. Hemet just doesn't do anything else. To be fair I'd say Rend Blackhand is almost as bad and maybe deserved a spot on here.
The Boogeymonster - The classic 'worse Gruul' and, even back at Release era, Gruul was considered a garbage Legendary to open up. If there's ever a good 'when a minion attacks and kills a minion, it may attack again' buff to put on it, maaaybe, but probably not. Definitely agree, definitely bad.
Bolf Ramshield - The classic 0/9 Taunt+Spelltaunt for 6. It's a really neat, unique effect. Shame it's bad. I mean it can stop some of a Tempo Mage's damage I suppose, but you could probably heal for 9+ in some better way. Still, THE worst ever? I dunno, but I'll respect Kripp's passion here.
Final thoughts - I originally clicked this video because I wanted to see if Lorewalker Cho made the list. He didn't. That's good. Kripp's the man and so is Cho. Remember, never stop playing what you like to play, boys.
I might run through the Legendaries list and see if I can find anything worth adding here, later.
Proposed Fixes:
Duskfallen Aviana: Battlecry: the first card played on each player's next turn costs 0. Increase cost to 6
Flame Leviathan: when you draw this deal 1 damage to all enemy characters.
Anomalus: No fix needs, currently sees play in wild reno mage.
Moorabi: LUL. make it a 3 mana 3/3 so at least you have a chance to combo it with something. If grumble was a 6 mana 7/7 with a good effect, what they heck were they thinking with moorabi?
Dr. Moorigan: reduce cost to 6.
Hir'eek, the bat: reduce cost by 1.
Harbinger Celestia: Make into 3 mana 4/4
Hemet: Increase health by 1
The Boogeymonster: Whenever this attacks and kills a minion, gain +2/+2 and restore this minion to full health.
Bolf Ramshield: add taunt
Kripp: hahaha I can't die (2 health)

I remember bolf beeing very good in some Tavern brawls. I dont know exactly how it worked, but there was a combo, where you could oneshot your opponent with Tree of life (which you got after playing a 9 drop) and Auchenai soul priest.
It'd be nice if Blizzard changed spirit of the bat, so the buff it gave targeted the highest cost minion in your hand. Gives the player some agency on where they want the buffs, and produces actual synergy with the loa.
Morrigan has sleeping potential, it just needs some more synergy cards. On release of Boomsday I took a N'Zoth Thaddius Renolock with her at rank 5 in wild. If Morrigan costed less it would have created potentially problems on a QUEST ROGUE SCALE of level. Generating a board that can't be cleared in any way besides Psychic Scream. It was actually wise to make her cost 8.

Duskfallen Aviana can be a combo card if druid ever gets a "phase out" abillity where you remove the minion until the next turn. Until then its probably 3rd or 4th on my list.
Harbringer Celestia was ok-ish in wild when combo druid and even shaman were everywhere because it blocked the broken turn 4 of shaman and druid were playing very few minions at this time. But it was unplayable against odd paladin and other decks...
