Episode 1: Get Lost in Woodstock
Woodstock, Vermont is one of the quaintest, most picturesque towns in the world---and disclaimer: it is also my hometown. But trust me, this Rockefeller town has a walking village filled with boutique shops, a center town green, an iconic covered bridge, and nearby working farm-Billings Farm--all of which looks charming in the green summers or snowy winters. The Woodstock Inn & Resort is the backbone of the time, and has been popular with locals & tourists for years.

no why am i watching these videos. i live here😂
Woodstock is indeed one of America's gems, and the prettiest town in VT, albeit, a bit loved to death in fall.
Haha great way to put it. Growing up there, the fall was always so crazy and very hard to drive anywhere!
When I was a kid, there were more cows than people in Vermont. As I grew older, I wanted to leave because I wanted to see what the rest of the world had to offer. I have lived in many places and traveled a lot. People are people no matter where you go. Your experiences largely depend upon attitude & behavior. But when it comes right down to it, don't most people feel that there's "no place like home"? I know I do. #Ilovermont‼️😉👍🏻
Actually not always when it comes to "no place like home". My home town over the years grew out of proportion with the cost of living and the crime soaring into the stratosphere. Virtually all it's history has been destroyed in the so-called name of progress but was really for the land. Phoenix, AZ hasn't been my home for over 30 years and I don't visit it anymore. But yes attitude and behavior do amount to a lot.
I feel Vermont is the prettiest place in the world. I just love it. I plan to move there soon as I can. I love the fall colors and the mountains and snow just everything about it. Thanks so much for the video of Woodstock.
+Jàdà Kees Yes, it's beautiful, scenery wise. But the people there are very unwelcoming to outsiders, who they refer to as flatlanders. Only ones who were born there get to call themselves Vermonters. Elitist snobbism at it's finest.I recommend, going there on vacation first. You'll see what I mean. "We don't need no flatlanders heah".It's ok to visit in the fall and spend lots of cash, though. Then go home. You're not welcome, flatlander.
Agreeeeeeeeeeeeed!!
See Ya their in 2026 haha
+Jàdà Kees I'm telling you, before you move there, visit first. Then you'll see what snobs they are. In their little universe, they are the only true "Vermonters", because they were born there. You hear it all the time: "4th generation Vermonter" like that earns you a special merit badge or something. Outsiders, or anybody who wasn't born there, are all called "flatlanders", hence, not as good as them. Elitist snobbism at it's finest.
What's wrong with calling flatlanders what they are? Nobody would have any problems with you if you weren't such an obnoxious dumbass, from what I've seen here. I'm sure the only snobby person here is you, mtntime1. I'm personally friends with people who were born way out west, and I don't really care, as they are respectable people. Even if people here hated people who moved in from other states, I don't know how much I could blame them, as it seems most of them only bring crime, stupidity, and shitty driving.
Be good people and we will be good people.
Here's what's wrong. They use "flatlander" as a derogatory term, not as a description of those person's geography. Either you're one of them, a so called "Vermonter" or an outsider (flatlander). Like I said before, elitist snobbism at it's finest. Who needs these snobs, Colorado is more beautiful anyway. And they're not snobs.
This is such a pretty town, so pictures. Definitely on my bucket list!
Woodstock is one of the prettiest town in VT. Great to visit, but the cost of housing is high.
Awesome little town! My Wife and myself used to spend a weekends there at a bed and breakfast and had a wonderful time.
I live in Berlin Vermont just 58 miles from Woodstock: try and imagine the most expensive town anywhere in your state and that's Woodstock Vermont
Yes, beautiful town that caters to the rich, not for a hippie girl like me.
My wife and I looked at four houses in Woodstock, but didn’t buy any. I was teaching at Middlebury College and it was too far away. But we did stay at the Woodstock Inn, and enjoyed the city several times over the years.
The more I learn about Vermont, the more I want to live there! Someday I swear....
+Ashley Pope I used to think that, too. It all started while watching the opening scenes to Newhart. I thought, what a beautiful place. And it is. But after visiting Vermont, you learn very quickly that they do NOT want any outsiders moving there. They called me a "flatlander" (even though I'm from Colorado!). Elite snobs, they want to keep all that beauty for themselves. But you can go and spend money there on vacation. And I strongly recommend taking a vacation or two there before moving. You'll see what I mean.
mtntime1 not all of us vermonters are snobs. Some of the mad river valley folks can be as well as people from stowe and a few of the other upperclass towns but most of us are friendly so please stop referring to us as snobs, if you wanna see snobs go to new york lol
@@jasonsulham9495 "not all of us vermonters are snobs." That's because you people from those areas are mostly flatlanders who moved here and bought up our best land. Then, when you die, you bequeath it to the government or Middlebury College.
@special k with a twist State government does not allow industry to thrive here anymore, which pays well. The best paying jobs are in the hands of the flatlanders who moved here.
@special k with a twist Not so. You generalize, while I mentioned specifics. The job market is tighrt because nearly no industry. What the government allows for business typically requires skills or training that most real Vermonters don't have. And those businesses are owned by flatlanders ( such as Ben & Jerry's). So the likelihood of someone from Boston - or other flatlands - is very high compared to the homegrown citizen.
WOODSTOCK VT! ...... AWESOME ROCKS! .......
I'm starting my New England getaway next week in Woodstock at the Woodstocker, I'm very excited.
How great would that be to own a coffee shop here. Serene.
Beautiful ...... ! Vermont! ..... Thanks for Sharing! ..... Ms. Kelley Ferro.
i love woodstock its so prettyMost of Winsor county is posh and where the rich people of vermont live for the longest time i nicknamed it snobstock. I am a native vermonter and now dream of moving their and getting away from Rutland county
Beautiful, my next home, greetings from Chile🇨🇱
Vermont is the best kept secret in America!
i wonder what makes it so nice compared to the rest of the US 🤔
A little bit of old New York in old Vermont.
This is where I love and I love it!
I hear they really love Christmas up there and the festivals (probably none this year due to COVID)
Beautiful!
Love this! We have a soft spot for Vermont :) You should "get lost" in Middlebury someday :)
My mother and I lived in Woodstock before it was "discovered" (and ruined). I had an English cottage garden at our home on Central Street which many people came to see and I designed many gardens for people in the village. It was me who saved the historic Pumpkin House from burning down when it caught fire in 1984. I did a lot of work for Phillips Farrington at the Historical Society. My mother was friends with Paul who was the police chief in those days. When we left they tore down our house and "remodeled" the Pumpkin House into a gauche tourist trap. I now live in southern Spain.
+Gary Williams Glad that you enjoyed Woodstock when you were here. I grew up there and to me, it still is really untouched. Thanks for sharing that story. Love Southern Spain as well!
+Kelley Ferro Um, did you actually read Gary Williams' post?
September 2016 I would like some info on what happened after I left like 63 Central Street got ruined by shoppee
As far as I know they tore down our house. We were rel Vermonters.I had an old fashioned garden at 63 Central Street with a sign pointing up that said "English Garden"
Kelley Ferro, So how is it "untouched"? It is a worse tourist trap now than it was before. I now live in Marbella, Spain. They are going to find a way to ruin that as well.
This looks and sounds so picturesque!!!
Please stay where you live.
how beautiful vermont is.
Nice 👍😃I love Vermont 😌
It's a Greatest video amazing so nice of I like it so mach you stay connected god bless you my dear friend
Amazing

Lovely
woodstock inn has the best fireplace.
I couldn't agree more!
thanks kelly
Its like a Hallmark movie set is a real place!
Good video. We're visiting Woodstock from the UK for a couple of days, so it'd be nice to get an experience of authentic America.
mtntime1 our ski areas are better lol just saying
Like this
I want to go there someday
At 0:18 into clip is sign mentioning the Vermont Medical College that closed in the 1800s.
Now, in 2020, it's being brought back to life as the most unique, new medical college in the world! The new Vermont Medical College will combine psychology, esoteric healing and advanced biomedical research. With the covid-19 pandemic, the College is beginning with an online colloquium for subscribing students, doctors, researchers and citizen scientists, globally! P.O. Box 2, Woodstock, VT 05091
Unfortunately, many people have to endure the drive through to get to the highway for New Hampshire.
I suggest traveling at 4am in this scenario for safety.
My Home State, I miss it, I retired in Hephzibah, Ga.
Wednesday, September 6 -23. Greetings from Salamanca (Spain)
Merry Christmas🌲
I like your voice ;)
+Odysseus Thanks :)
Looks like Stars Hollow if you know what I mean. The town from Gilmore Girls if you don't.
my home state how i miss it.Are you from vermont kelley
I've been in Arizona all my life.
I'm tired of Arizona and considering moving to Vermont?
Any advise or information anyone can give me ?
Nice Job! I want to go there!
+Martin Family Middlebury Since you're from Middlebury (Vt. I hope) you should be ok. But if you're from another state, you'll be sorry.
The most artificial town I've ever visited. It's not real, just a postcard. Oh, why don't you check the price of houses there. There is absolutely no job in Woodstock Vermont, it's just a place where wealthy people from Boston and NYC have second houses.
You can thank the Rockefellers for that.
"and no traffic lights !" ( sound of cars crashing, horns, glass shattering,screams.....)
SailorAllan ,, ya don't ya love it?
Don't forget that the roads are never maintained. So drive there with an SUV or a truck.
I live in Vermont...
It's giving Hallmark movie town.
My Grandparents live in woodstock
Almost moved there in May 2018...the ultimate Vermont town that can't be out-Vermonted
,Alex Farley, Just remember. You will always be an outsider there.
I am so sorry to hear that I thought Vermont was a friendly place to live I guess I was wrong thanks for letting me know
This isn't REAL Vermont, this is out of staters who turned a once beautiful town into a mobbed zoo.
REAL Vermonters are friendly
Thank you for that comment. I have always wanted to visit but was unsure.
Jàdà Kees it is a friendly place to live. You have many unfriendly towns in any state that you live in.I feel vermont is 1 of the most friendliest states that I have been 2
Jason Sulham thank you so much. i really appreciate your reply. so refreshing to hear.
Jàdà Kees your welcome

I want to live here
I really wouldn't recommend living in Woodstock.
You can't afford to live there.
Why do you say that? I loved it
this is what it would look like if epcot had a vermont pavilion, superficially vermont. i wonder if most locals can even afford all these upscale stores and if so theyre prob not real vermonters. i grew up in vt and cannot relate, this seems like some big idealized illusion to milk tourists.
Yeah that isn't fine dining I know
all i see is old people any young people around !!!
No immigrants from africa, the middle east, or mexico?
yes there is dumbass 😂 you live in a bubble
No, you would have to travel to experience real culture.
As a Vermonter, I can say " umm, no thanks! "
The inn is not the backbone
The only way you can get lost in Woodstock is if you take a left a McNeils baaaaan and walk into the woods! LOL...
Woodstock? $$$$$$$
That's not Vermont. That's New Yorkers...pretending
I love Vermont, anti-Corporate America.
It's now anti-business, anti-capitalist, and anti all individual rights. Everyone is micromanaged by Montpelier.
Nice! Check out my Burlington video-kinda similar
Are there any black people? lmao vt has to be one of the least racially diverse states
+Jack Ebert Vermont is not racially mixed because it is cold, and sticks strongly to the old american traditions of farming small town living. Vermont is originally american so there will be no blacks there since it imitates what america would have been without racial and integration mixing. If there were blacks and other non-whites in Vermont it would cease to be a haven and paradise.

That was a nasty thing to say. Why would non whites make Vermont cease to be a paradise? You must live in an all white world. I'm glad I don't.
There were two transgender, a few Asians but the town of Woodstock is terrible at pretending to be liberals.they left.
Don't bring kids they hate kids. It's Fake VT town and business owners rule the way it appears
@@karenwalkeden6030 it cant be too great if your there.
Back in the 60's my folks owned a camp in Plymouth Notch. Woodstock was beautiful even back there. Really the most enchanting town during Christmas. Whats not noticed at first in Woodstock is all the electricity poles are gone everything is underground so as not to ruin the look. You have Woodstock Inn. Bentleys. Billings Farm. Cheese Factory in Plymouth. Kedron Valley, Woodstock Inn Golf Club and Qeechie Inn just down the road. We don't live in VT but vacation there when we can. Its our first choice.
Thanks for your comment! I love it during Christmas too!
