    1:38 hmmmmm tbh she doesnt demonstrate any significant control over her mix ratio other than the fact that its chesty/balanced up to a certain note. But the rest of your points there are correct. Although, I would like to say that being a light lyric doesnt mean producing less resonance. Yes, lower/thicker/deeper voices are usually louder but the amount of resonance someone produces doesn't depend on their vocal fach. Natalie has an amazingly well developed chest register so her chest resonance in her mix is always present and ringing. It's lovely.

    • @Ryan_K535
      @Ryan_K535  6 лет назад +9

      Marios AVATAR She actually can control the ratios in her mix.In the 4th octave sometimes her mix can become chestier making the sound fuller and more open.An example of a heady mix (that she rarely uses)Would be her G5 in the skyscreaper performance in a high school while she was playing piano.(I'll link you the video.)

      Ryan kukaleshi her mix is more or less almost always balanced. In the 4th octave it's normal to be a bit chestier and also, above E5 she's heady anyway. But thanks for the link.

    • @Ryan_K535
      @Ryan_K535  6 лет назад +1

      Marios AVATAR The vocal fatch doesn't control the amount of resonance that a singer can produce,But it can be a advantage towards the achivment of it.For example Mariah was more agile than Whitney because light voices are mostly more agile,but Whitney as a spinto could produce more resonance because mostly darker voices produce more resonance.So vocal fatches can be advantages and disadvantages.And in this video I was saying that although she is a very light voice her resonance is unstoppable.(lighter voices have smaller voice inputs )💜💜💜

    • @Ryan_K535
      @Ryan_K535  6 лет назад +1

      Marios AVATAR I agree that is mostly balanced but sometimes she shows control over her mix ratios for different reasons.

    She reminds me of Barbara Streisand. Barbara has the best technique ever. Brabra is the greatest vocalist in history. It is unfortunate that at the moment I could not learn vocals from Natalie.

    If I was going to be super picky ... the only notes I’d say is that she does pull up chest sometimes when she could use more mix, and this gives her vibrato more weight than it needs. Her vibrato could have more of a bel canto spin if she didn’t do that. Also her vowels have a tendency to splat sometimes, and could be more narrow, but I believe this happens because she has a lot of support going on so she can still support the wider vowels.

    • @GarageStudio7
      @GarageStudio7 6 лет назад +7

      Ryan Kukaleshi I completely agree, all I could really find was her lowering her larynx for one B2 and almost compromising the melodic structure of certain songs with her riffs & runs (but that's not really a technical issue plus she also jokes around a lot) 😂

      She and Sohyang are example of literally perfect vocal technique.
      Their technique is better Beyonce, Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston

    • @Ignasimp
      @Ignasimp 3 года назад

      @@Hhjhfu247 support is a dumb term. What does it mean to support?
      What's important is release of air, core, depth. She has no core, nad no depth. She sings in a constricted voice through her entire range. Her chestvoice is underdeveloped wich makes her voice weak and too bright and girly. Her high belts are so heady they are annoying to listen to and unnatural sounding.
      And as much as I love Sohyang she used to have a bigger voice than the one she uses now. She could have a more developed chestvoice if she know how to develop it.

    • @sandy_carpetsthesecond5013

      @@Ignasimp Her voice isn't constricted? I think you're getting confused between constriction (the tightening of the muscles around the vocal folds and/or the vocal folds themselves) and masked placement (when resonance is placed within the mouth and nasal cavity.)
      Basically, Natalie has a developed chest range, if her chest wasn't developed, her projection at the bottom of her notes would be non-existant and her range wouldn't be as large as it is. However, Natalie hasn't trained to drag her chest register up or trained to use her chest cavity to resonate which is what gives her that bright tone. She prefers to think upwards and sings in more of a sigh placement than pulling her chest range up, it's less vocally demanding and is significantly easier to control.
      Also, nothing about her voice is unnatural. Masked placement is used to blend and even out your chest register and your head register by mimicking a crying child and adjusting it into a musical setting- Her technique is actually significantly more natural than other forms of technique, as it mimicks the crying sound that we used to use as a child instinctively.
      As for Sohyang... The reason why her voice is quieter is because she's using less twang. She's going for a darker sound now, so she's removed the twang she's used to using which has pulled back her volume quite a lot- Sohyangs projection never had anything to do with how developed her chest register is, it was all to do with how she was resonating- You'll find that tone and volume are entirely controlled by how you resonate and not by how developed your voice is.

    • @Ignasimp
      @Ignasimp 2 года назад +1

      @@sandy_carpetsthesecond5013 you can't place the sound on the mouth and nasal cavity. Placement is a myth. A voice is nasal when it's not deep enough.
      Compare her low notes to other sopranos like Mariah, Whitney... and you'll realize how weak her chestvoice is.

    • @sandy_carpetsthesecond5013
      @sandy_carpetsthesecond5013 2 года назад

      @@Ignasimp Placement doesn't exist??? Huh?? Why does the soft palette exist then? And why are vowels so important in dictating tone? And why does the voice have four resonant cavities? If placement didn't exist, then surely we wouldn't use our skull and chest to resonate? We'd just use our throat and mouth.
      I'm sorry but whereever you got that information is concerningly miseducated. Your vocal placement changes all the time and is the biological driving factor of how we emote- If placement didn't exist, it'd be impossible for us to be able to emote or for there to even be so many diverse tones in humans- We'd all sound the same.
      Also, Nasality isn't cause by a lack of depth, you've got it the wrong way around. A lack of depth is caused by a nasal placement- The nasal cavity is small, so it doesn't allow voices to resonate as much as other cavities do.
      Oh, and by the way: The reason why Whitney and Mariah sound the way they do is because of their natural vocal tone. However, if you listen to their lower notes and the amount of ease that Mariah, Whitney and Natalie all have. You'd notice that Natalie actually has the most ease and projection going lower. Mariah hasn't properly projected a note below an E3 and looses all tone at D3 whereas Natalie is able to consistently go down to C even when she's singing casually in her livingroom. I haven't listened to Whitney too much, But from what I've heard about and from her, Her lows aren't really her vocal strength. Her range isn't anything super astonishing down there, and from what videos I quickly researched just, her lows seem to be around the same level as Mariahs.
