  • In this Porsche Macan S diesel (aka SD), the real engine sound is brought louder inside the cabin. How do you like it?
Instructions to do a launch control on a car without the Sport Chrono package (also in the subtitles):
    - Your engine must be well warmed up.
    - Sport mode must be active.
    - Floor the brake pedal ("Hold" must show up on the dash).
    - Floor the accelerator pedal.
    - Release the brakes.
For people who have never been in a Macan: the cabin is too isolated & soundproofed from outside sounds, including the sound of our own engine that we'd like to hear more. It takes a very loud exhaust to hear just a little bit of sound; even the OEM PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust) only alters the sound, without making it much louder (it's louder outside, for people behind and in tunnels, but not so much inside). The PSE actually comes with a soundaktuator to fake a louder exhaust sound inside the cabin. It's especially worse on the Macan S diesel as the engine is so much muted by pollution filtering that the exhaust is two straight pipes to very small mufflers dividing each pipe in two outputs.
Fixed on this Macan, which still has a stock exhaust: I'm piping sound from the engine bay inside the cabin. I wanted more real sound (and no fake "soundaktuator" noise that create fake V8 sound in the exhaust), for me the driver, without annoying other people (basically the inverse of what an aftermarket exhaust would do). And on demand.

Hi, PSE can't be heard so much inside the cabin. What I'm using is a microphone in the engine bay, connected to the PCM's AUX input. So it's partly fake: playing the real engine sound, on the speakers. Here's where I've put it: i.ibb.co/Zfph69k/Porsche-Macan-SD-Mic-install.jpg

Sly_North ohhh! Interesting. Yea. Pse is very quiet in the cabin. I shall try this method out when I get a chance. Thank you!
