Rigo was tragic man. After beating Donaire everyone ran...quigg, frampton, linares, santa cruz, Walters...Arum had Loma fight them first when it should of been Rigo. I still get sad about the loma vs rigo fight. Rigo was broken at that point...He still my favorite fighter of all time.
I met him in Miami when I was shooting Junior Dos Santos camp for a later cancelled fight in 2022. Hes a nice, funny dude after workouts . Coming in he's all business. It was funny seeing him messing around with Dos Santos trying to do a take down .

BLACKBALLED! When hear that term in professional boxing - my thoughts aways goes to; Sonny Liston, Marvin Hagler, Tim Witherspoon, Lennox Lewis, Bernard Hopkins & Wladimir Klitschko. Liston was for years a valid world title challanger but due to his connection with certain Mafia involved people, Liston was kept at bay until Floyd Patterson decided it was wrong and against wills gave liston his deserved title shot - the rest is history. Problem was we never got to see how a prime Liston would have done as champion. Marvin Hagler sure had a grerat HOF career, but the way he was on pure purpose ignored by Bob Arum and Don King and Butch Lewis to get a shot at the title was a long battle that Hagler did not get any justice in untill Hagler's team went to court for not granting him his rightfull earned title fights. They feared Hagler because he was not one of there fighters and they corrupt as they where only wanted there fighters to fight. Tim Witherspoon demands a whole chapter explaining all, but basically, Witherspoon was betrayed, stolen, humiluated and banned all by the same man - Don King. King stole HEFTY sums of money from Witherspoon's contract and demanded Witherspoon to defend his title against Smith, when he had done his homework and plan for a completely different boxer in Tony Tubbs. King demanded Witherspoon to fight Smith despite he had previous year out-boxed the man and if not King promised he would make a HELL out of Witherspoon's life. Afterwards, Witherspoon was banned from fighting ANY Don King signed fighter and since King had 90% of all top 10 HW's, Witherspoon despite winning could never become champion again. Lennox Lewis was for so many years disrespected from the American boxing community. Riddick Bowe dumped the WBC title un a trash can rather then face his 1# mandatory challanger, who beated him in the Olympics. 4 years later Mike Tyson also dumped the WBC title to avoid having to fight Lewis. Holyfield was not much better with giving all his attention to Bowe, Tyson and Moorer, so despite Lewis fought 9/10 times in his career in the USA at there home-turf he was ignored. And when Lewis who came from there era just the same defeated Tyson & Holyfield, American fans often tried to diminish his wins with tons of excuses, and never admit that Lewis was just a better HW in there era. Or how the same group love to lay-on Lewis his two single losses as bad ones against "there least better HW" - but refuse to acnowlidge that Lewis not only avenged both freak losses but dominatingly so. Or claiming Lewis had a glas-jaw or no heart, when Lewis ONLY touched canvas 2 times, (proved he could take big shots against Bruno, Mercer, Briggs, Mavrovic & Klitschko), while Tyson was down 6-7 times including 5/6 losses by getting stopped and NEVER avenged any of his losses! Holyfield 4-5 times in his career with Bowe avoiding ALL but Holyfield in his career and Bowe was down 2-3 times + out-classed by Andrew Golota TWICE while Lewis demolished the man in 1 round and Tyson in 3 rounds. Bernard Hopkins went for years ignored by the boxing establishment and even when he became IBF world MW champion he was ignored by the other champions and not until at "late" stage when they believed he was getting old he was callowed by them to fight there champions - and as we know he defeated them all to unify the middleweight crown for first time since Hagler. Wladimir Klitschko was for years sidelined similar to Lewis because he was not American, despite a house-hold name in most of Europe thanks to his amature career and the Olympics. When Don King (who low-balled both brothers BTW) could not secure them when turning pros, he made sure to do all he could to have the brothers away from his champions, witch made lesser tallents like Kirk Johnson, Fres Oquendo, John Ruiz, Jameel McCline etc. get ahead for title shots. And when they had there freak losses, they where ridiculed by American press. And even when they howed the division for several years by defending the titles against all challangers they near refused to give them there credit (?). Worst was when the WBC refused to let the already universal recognized best HW with alll belts (Lineal/WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO) Wladimir fight for the retirement vacated WBC title left by his brother and gave that belt to be fought for between B-level Bermane Stiverne vs. B-level Chris Arreola (?). So despite having won belt- by belt with 18 title defences and all needed for the 1st unified and undisputed champion since 1999 Lewis, he was refused the oppertunity by the WBC.
What happened to Rigo was a travesty. Beating the back 2 back fighter of the year is supposed to elevate your career not hurt it. He pissed off Arum by beating his cash cow Donaire.

The actions of several boxers in recent years lends credence to this idea, although them explicitly stating their reasons for vacating titles and refusing to pay sanctioning fees would be harmful to their careers. Have you considered doing a compilation series on poor or corrupt judges and incompetent or corrupt refs in boxing? There's plenty of material to make a few installments.
Imagine getting in a time machine and warping to the airport upon his arrival with a giant welcome back home champ sign. Maybe the only fan but that would have made an everlasting impact . After watching both docs form the 90s and recently . That moment mentally scarred him. What he was going to tell the people upon the arrival, he was going to make a change to his life and make his town proud .

The footage I used in the video is footage I was collecting as everything was taking place . I myself at that time was seeing this double standard and to why everyone went quiet when Stiverne picked up the belt then later Wilder . It's not revisionist, it's history that's just ignored that was right Infront of us. America wanted to revive the heavyweight division and bring back the monopoly to the states under whatever cost . And made everybody fall in line for that to happen. Only thing was Wilder who is really a Michael Grant 2.0 did not at all what it took to beat any of the rising fighters nor contenders. So they protected him , made it incredibly difficult to move up the WBC ranks to fight him . His handlers made it so that whoever wants to fights him that's a threat is under a bogus contract and they have to fight him in the states . 20:01 another interesting video thank you for the work. I’d object to the addition of Lennox. He wouldn’t deny his opposition up to 91 wasn’t strong. Larry saying it doesn’t make it disrespectful. Lennox looked like a world beater against a very talented Gary Mason which was huge given he’d sparked out Biggs 2 years prior to both Lennox and Bowe fighting him. But Bowe had already stopped Pinklon and slept Bert Cooper before Lennox fought mason. Bowe then went on his early run stopping the gold medalist Biggs who beat Lennox to win his Games title. Thats the part you’re missing from that commentary.. it’s out of context. Imo you’re missing the fact that they were so negative about the talking point re Bowe losing to Lennox in amateurs bc Bowe already rendered it pointless given Biggs beat him comfortably in the quarterfinals before ultimately winning his gold. It had nothing to do with him being american. Other than the broadcast team opting for storylines that support the belts they are covering at times. Wanna know how I know? Of the ten heavyweights Larry merchant put on his all time best heavyweights list the one time he made such a ranking, only one wasn’t American. And it was Lennox at 4th above Marciano. And I say this admitting flat top Lewis and Rigo are my two favorite boxers. He also beat seldon along with Tubbs all before Lennox even fought a single time is the US.
Blackballing happens all the time, now we got Turki Alal Sheik running it as a front man for the betting industry and I still see it all the time. Probably haven't been a worse year for boxing than 2024, so many fixed fights, I feel sad for the fans. Total garbage sport.
I I am 41 now, 6"2, bald, brown skin, in decent shape, and still a virgin technically speaking, despite having had multiple opportunities over the years with the few relationships I've had and then one offs where things went quite far. So done sexual stuff but NEVER had full PIV intercourse. I wanted to save myself for marriage and do what's right before God but I guess the wife and the marriage never happened. I hope it's not too late but it's certainly getting to a point where I'm worried whether anything will change. There are moments where I actually can't believe I still haven't met this person that I want to settle down with and marry. Yet it seems to happen for others. Is it just bad luck or something else? I feel inadequate and my confidence is at one of the lowest points it's been. I have no idea what to do next and am feeling totally lost. I still believe sex is for marriage and that's something I can't compromise over now, especially after having waited all this time. That said I do feel a sense of regret because I feel I have missed out on this crucial human experience which is definitely quite sad.

As much as there is bullshit in MMA, and I can complain about it a lot, at least it's not as disgusting as boxing can be sometimes. I'm still baffled we never got a Joshua vs Wilder fight when they were in their primes.
I get the idea of this video but it doesn't quite meet the definition of blackballed. Muhammad Ali was blackballed for his stance on the Vietnam War. That's a lot different than somebody not getting the opportunity to fight somebody because of shenanigans. That's what boxing is. The fighting belt groups and the networks decide who the most popular fighters to support and they go that way. Most of these guys in this video just got slowed down not really blackballed. Being pushed to the side for a while isn't the same as being blackballed from the sport.
Rigondeaux had the same problem of Erislandy Lara; he's has the charisma of a shoe sole and a bad attitude, despite having (boring to watch but great) boxing talent. Have no sympathy for him; he dug his own grave, by putting everything against him without the need. The Loma fight was his big opportunity to shine and he threw a tantrum and simply abandoned; even Loma noticed he was disconnected from the whole thing

I’m not sure there’s any boxing fan who doesn’t consider Lennox Lewis an all time great. There’s an argument to be made that he is possibly the greatest heavyweight of all time. Just don’t like hue he went out, not giving vitali the rematch.

I get the idea of this video but it doesn't quite meet the definition of blackballed. Muhammad Ali was blackballed for his stance on the Vietnam War. That's a lot different than somebody not getting the opportunity to fight somebody because of shenanigans. That's what boxing is. The fighting belt groups and the networks decide who the most popular fighters to support and they go that way. Most of these guys in this video just got slowed down not really blackballed. Being pushed to the side for a while isn't the same as being blackballed from the sport.
Rigondeaux had the same problem of Erislandy Lara; he's has the charisma of a shoe sole and a bad attitude, despite having (boring to watch but great) boxing talent. Have no sympathy for him; he dug his own grave, by putting everything against him without the need.
