@@mkunes2502 I hated the whole disco scene. But the mid to late 1970s was not a great time in the United States. From 1975 till the end. From the horrible end of the Vietnam war, Watergate, high unemployment and inflation, gas lines in 1979 and more. But compared to 2024 it was paradise. So I should have taken things less seriously, including disco, but I was young.
@@mkunes2502 I would say 1965 was the beginning of the end. One could say 1946 or 47 when Truman signed the CIA into existence. But that's another story. After '65 it really went down hill. I saw it.

Ah, good old Fernwood Tonight. I would love to find video of the episode where the Salvation Army band appears doing their version of Stayin Alive. Fernwood, Taxi, Barney Miller, the last hurrah of the golden age of television, 1965-1980. After that, things went downhill at an amazingly rapid pace. When they got rid of Taxi, they got rid of me. Anyway, I wasn't a huge Mary Hartman fan but I was way into Fernwood Tonight, best late-night talk show next to Johnny and Letterman before he turned into a self-absorbed overly political bitter old man.
Snider was lovable twit sometimes. One of those guys you couldn't stay angry at. He had The Clash on his show and they played for fifteen minutes doing Magnificent Seven and This Is Radio Clash. It's one of their only good live performances available online. Letterman was on his show. It was as if he just wanted to put Snider in his place by humiliating him on his own show. Maybe Snider asked for it. I don't know. Harry Shearer is a brilliant comedian.
@@michaelwilson2340 I assume John "Lydon" was there and being a narcissist. Wendy was always a sweetheart. Ever check out Amyl and the Sniffers? They are an Aussie punk band and the singer Amy Taylor reminds me a bit of Wendy and the Plasmatics.
@@Alsatiagent-zu1rx Lydon was quite rude. It was a very awkward interview. Snyder was actually being professional. I think Johnny was doing his "act" again. Keith Levine was very subdued though. It's a tragedy how Wendy took her own life.
Fun fact: Harry Shearer was on the unaired pilot for Leave it to Beaver in the late '50s. He played a sort of Eddie Haskell character who was antagonistic to Beaver. The only characters in the pilot who went on to the show were Tony Dow and Jerry Mathers.
Letterman’s morning show used comedians as pretend guests, also. It was much funnier than Late Night, with its boring real guests. Also, Shearer’s radio show, LeShow, had comedians as fake guests.
Harry Shearer is BRILLIANT!!!!
Shearer is always dead-on with his impersonations. He's got the cadence, the habits, the riffs

Everybody in this vid are legends.
Tom Snyder was one of the best interviewers gosh I miss him 😢
Fernwood Tonight was such a funny show !
Martin mull died 😢😢😢😢
Genius comedy. I miss this stuff!
When does the comedy start I could not tell.

Harry Shearer is the best!
1:10 He calls himself "steamed" despite the fact that he's obviously grilled.
All I could hear at that moment was Skinner talking about steamed hams.

Also, Spinal Tap and The Folksmen.
I'm a big fan of everyone in this video, including Tom Snyder. Snyder was very underrated as a late night host.
That Harry Shearer fellow is nobody to mess with. He really seemed like he means business.
RIP Martin
Brilliant Harry and Snyder impression.
Now I miss the late 1970s.

Snyder's interview with Public Image Limited didn't go so well. Wendy O Williams was a blast though. Literally.

Harry Shearer SNL, Spinal Tap, Airheads lol. Great voices of the Simpsons. So funny.
wayne’s world 2 as well

Comedic genius here.
Is that martin mull with the Ed Begley jr haircut?
He always wore hair like that. Even in 1974 when I saw him in concert. In terms of chronology, Ed Begley Jr imitated Martin Mull
LOVELOVELOVE
Shearer looks like David Horowitz
Fernwood Tonight was screwy. Saw it on cable at another house.
How comedy had gone downhill! Shearer Willard Mull. Some are equal but no-one does it better.
