I was already tired from a long day's work and the co main legitimately almost put me to sleep. I was dozing in and out for the last 3 rounds of Strickland v DDP. I have no desire to go back and rewatch the whole fight considering there wasn't enough going on to keep me invested the first time
He is over rated and the only reason he gets good publicity in Canada is because he sings to the tune of the journalists (AKA activists) He isn’t good enough for the UFC and I doubt we will hear much about him in the future. He is average at best.
Dude jumped on a guillotine like an amateur in a fight he was winning by a mile and rightfully got finished for making such a bush league mistake. If he can't close out a completely one-sided win over a listless Magny with less than 2 minutes to go, he's not going to be a serious contender.
@@nathanmoore7120 lol he was undefeated and was up 2-0 until he went for an errand heel hook rather than using the sweep to get up. How about we give him 2 or so more fights before making a sweeping judgement on his ability lol
@BestWayKilla before the Magny fight, Mallott won his last fight by guillotine. Hermansson went on a run because of the arm in guillotine. Fighters are throwing up ninja jokes, a guillotine variation as a TD defense. This meta of abandoning the guillotine has been dead for 5 years champ. With that said, I agree he was overzealous and it costed him but to suggest he can't do guillotines when he's had success with guillotines is ludicrous
I'm surprised he said Pennington didn't have a chance to finish the fight. She had that choke sunk and played out frustratingly she and wouldn't shift from Mount to her right to tighten the choke. I 100% believe that's all she would have had to do to end it. Silva literally tapped her hand like 1 1/2 times, multiple times. She was so tired that she was waiting for the first second of not breathing so she could tap. Dc and i were both losing our minds wondering wtf raquel was doing. She would have looked alot better is she got her belt with a last round sub. Still i thought she did great and the second half of the fight was entertaining imo. Silva was kinda wack because she would just hold on at times.
It never gets old when sean starts talking about being a real man and that everybody else is a bitch and then he goes in the octagon and fights in the most defensive way possible It was a battle of who is the toughest white supremacist and ddp edged it out (idk why it was split i thought it was clear) and now i can't wait for Dana to announce a card in Africa because ofc he will make one when he gets a white African champ and not when he had 3 black African champs..
Oh dear. It’s got nothing to do with who’s white and who’s black. Leon Edwards for example fights at the O2 because thats where his fans are. If you made a card full of black English and American fighters in Africa it doesn’t make any sense. Thats not their home turf. Dricus LIVES in SA so building a card there actually makes sense and most of his fans are from there. Maybe you mean for Francis but I think it’s similar to Dagestanis not fighting in Russia. You can use Abu Dhabi as a stand in for Dagestanis and it’s much easier. For Francis its the same deal. When he fought in the USA it was his pseudo home turf and much more profitable than going to Cameroon for the UFC.
Do you think this dricus beats adesanya? He's a more powerful pressure fighter than Strickland. And if he studies well which I think he does too, surely adesanya has no chance?
Its not the correct sort of pressure needed. Sean is patient and has the defence to nullify Izzy's favourite weapons. DDP bumrushes like Brunson. MAybe he's powerful enough to get it done, but power isn't what beat Izzy in such decisive fashion.
Pennington had an exhausted opponent who was taking a rest on the floor for a large portion of the fight and still couldn't get the finish... so damned boring.
Thank god. Yea, he deserves credit for a great performance against izzy but this felt like a low point in MW Champion history. He got a great win when it mattered most but the way he and his izzy hating fans hyped him up made it seem like there was more to Strickland. All this talk about “being real”, how he’s the champion of the working man, how he’s ready to bring it, fighting to the deatfh blah blah. Now, we have ANOTHER example of Strickland “fights like he spars”, not displaying killer instincts, having the same limited tactics, and lack of urgency. The cherry on top his how he talked all this mess but was so thin skinned when he got any of it back. Even some of his fans noticed he was sounding like a “whoa is me” hypocrite in some of these press interviews.

Strickland taking “the jab is most the important punch” to the dumbest extreme. It’s a key, not the fucking door.
The wife technique of letting her get mount until she gets tired was so funny 😂
He throws right hands like he's a custom character winging overhands on ufc 3
Let it settle in that Holly Holm now has a legit claim to a title shot in the last person not retired to beat Pennington
Don't you dare suggest that. Lol. She's cut off. Like a drunk at a bar. She has had enough.
People are bemoaning that the title is now in the hands of a lumbering wildman, but I see it as revolving karma. Just as Izzy had to lose to Strickland, Sean needed to lose against Dricus, the universe correcting itself.
Thanks for the refreshing take on ufc event, just the fighting.
Great content, sir. Thank you
Oi oi, it's ya boi, the Sean Strickland of getting your jab in
I was already tired from a long day's work and the co main legitimately almost put me to sleep. I was dozing in and out for the last 3 rounds of Strickland v DDP.
I have no desire to go back and rewatch the whole fight considering there wasn't enough going on to keep me invested the first time
Sounds like you're watching the wrong sport
@@Alec-sanderMeirellesDoCantoECa thanks man I really needed to hear that
The ufc desire a pc champ so much that they gave Colby three title shots😂😂
Slacky, we need the Slacky Awards 2023!
The Mike Mallott fight broke my heart because he's actually a cool dude
He is over rated and the only reason he gets good publicity in Canada is because he sings to the tune of the journalists (AKA activists)
He isn’t good enough for the UFC and I doubt we will hear much about him in the future. He is average at best.
@@nathanmoore7120 LMAO

Magney. Fight was the most excited I got. In the whole night
almost certain I saw cachoeira playing with a fish-hook but the ref called it out too fast, it's not that she decided not to cheat
this is around 3:20 left on r2 if anyone wants to verify themselves, I have definitely misread situations before.
It never gets old when sean starts talking about being a real man and that everybody else is a bitch and then he goes in the octagon and fights in the most defensive way possible
It was a battle of who is the toughest white supremacist and ddp edged it out (idk why it was split i thought it was clear) and now i can't wait for Dana to announce a card in Africa because ofc he will make one when he gets a white African champ and not when he had 3 black African champs..
@@Figgy636 what, no, i just think its funny
Are you really gonna pretend he didn't do an African card in Africa with the 3 African champs for any reason other than COVID? 😂
First African Champ
I cackled at describing Mike Malott as "sort of male"
The shevchenko-cachoeira fight was reffed by Yamasaki
Lol that last sentence 👌
Both guys looked very beatable
Savage outro 😂
Do you think this dricus beats adesanya? He's a more powerful pressure fighter than Strickland. And if he studies well which I think he does too, surely adesanya has no chance?
Its not the correct sort of pressure needed. Sean is patient and has the defence to nullify Izzy's favourite weapons. DDP bumrushes like Brunson. MAybe he's powerful enough to get it done, but power isn't what beat Izzy in such decisive fashion.
Very different types of pressure. DDP literally kept throwing himself off balance by feinting ffs😂
Unless DDP gets his takedowns, that fight looks somewhat like the Costa fight
@@OverproofMMA More like Brunson. Costa is aesthetic as fuck, its unfair how clean his technique is and how jacked he looks doing it.
It seems like in terms of technical skills the Canadians are good smart fighters but they don't have that killer instinct and they just can't finish.
Who would have thought beat fights on this card would have been from the Men’s Bantom weights.
random flyweight and bantamweight fights on the prelims have always been known to be bangers
Bantamweight is always great, fuck you mean?
It was meant to be sarcastic 😂😂

Pennington had an exhausted opponent who was taking a rest on the floor for a large portion of the fight and still couldn't get the finish... so damned boring.
Canada has better boxers than mma fighters right now.
Dicus Du Pressis actually did it. I was rooting for him from the start
The idea that DDP is billed as an elite kickboxer is a joke
He had a kickboxing career before mma if I'm not mistaken
Glad Strickland is no longer... the... champion...
But he’s still racist doe, W mans.
@@steverogers7601 Oh they're trying their best to call him the People's Champ and a call the fight a banger lol. It was... good and competitive, but this will be forgettable over the course of 2024.
This fight was peak middle weight fight . Those spinning back fists were horrible from ddp. And Sean hates throwing body shots because he has autism .

Strickland was diaz in the McGregor vs Diaz 2 fight for Dricus Duplessis. He just would not go down and boxed his way to a split decision
You just run into one of those guys along the way, to greatness.
We will see a better in the prime of his life Dricus Duplessis next fight, he will bring it.

Glad I can go back to watching ufc now that Strickland is out
I love Strickland but he needed to push and attack more. His right hand/ overhand right hit every time. Sean does better when he is pressing on the attack. As far as judging, I think our judges are absolutely corrupt but I can’t say the call to give the win to DDP was mostly fair. Could to either way.
