Bougainvillea has proven itself in the 10 years duration of the crisis that they are capable of managing their own lives. If their survival in the 10 years of crisis is anything, it is the testament of their capability to manage their own affairs. Let them go!!!😢😊

Their suffering is the result of our greed to hold them back despite their plea. No need to politicize the issue, whose interest are we serving in holding back the release of bougainville

As a Sepik I want a referendum for my Tribe as well. Me and my Tribe never voted to join the PNG Government. We never voted to accept the PNG Constitution. We never agreed to be ruled by a foreign monarch. Our human rights were violated when PNG was created. Why doesn't anyone in Parliament talk about this?

The issue of Bougainville's independence from PNG is complex due to legal, economic, security and internal factors. Despite a significant majority of Bougainvilleans supporting independence in the 2019 referendum, the formalization process is delayed. This delay is due to legal requirements, including negotiations between PNG and the ABG, economic considerations regarding resources management and revenue sharing, concerns about security and stability, and the need for international recognition. While support for independence is strong in Bougainville, achieving it entails intricate negotiations, legal processes, and considerations of economic viability and regional stability.

He is clearly walking a tight rope. Balancing interest of State as a Cabinet Minister and interests that goes against the State which is for the country to break up.

I lived over in bougainville and liked it very much. However, this issue wouldn't have taken this turn. It has do far, 1. The german government funded Arial survey should the island was full of minerals. 2. New landowners executives elected were not recognized both by the Provincial Government and BCL. 3. Job promotion issues for bougainvilleans was overlooked by BCL management even though they were qualified 4. Continious harassment by outsiders by a particular group wasnt handled properly by law enforcement officer's
My thoughts about it. Bougainville will suffer greatly in many many years later on as island will be dug up for minerals no land suitable for agriculture and food shortages will come into play. My thoughts only

What you should be advocating for is financial independence. This island province, despite being smaller than some provinces in the country, has seen billions allocated to each MP, but the funds given to the Autonomous Government of Bougainville seem to have vanished without any tangible development apart from projects funded by the National Government. If Bougainville were to break away, how can it ensure that the misuse of funds through existing systems would be prevented? What benefits would independence truly bring? Bougainville already possesses full autonomy to generate revenue, levy taxes, and foster its economy, akin to Taiwan. Our leaders recognize that you are still an integral part of our nation, born together and unified on September 16, 1975. We hold Bougainville dear.
