Asking Questions - Level 4 - Evaluating Questions
In this video Paul Andersen shows you how to ask questions in a mini-lesson on evaluating questions. Two examples are included in the video and two additional examples are included in the linked thinking slides.
TERMS
Evaluate - to determine the significance of by careful study
Evidence - anything presented to support a claim
Experimental Question - a question that guides a testable scientific experiment
Explanation - a logical reason for a phenomenon
Hypothesis - a proposed explanation based on evidence
Observation - a statement about something you notice
Prediction - to say that an event will happen in the future
Question - a sentence that asks for information
Scientific principles - fundamental concepts that explain natural phenomenon
Variable - a factor that can be changed, controlled or measured
Independent Variable - the manipulated variable in an experiment (cause)
Dependent Variable - the responding variable in an experiment (effect)
