Looks like a great place to visit, love the plants on the walk up!! Need to find a copy of Special Beat Service and Dance Craze. Those have eluded me. Nother great video!
What a great video. The Primitives were one of my first loves & that album ‘Lovey’ is really underrated & can still be picked up very cheap. Two Tone had such an enormous impact on British culture, & me, it certainly shaped a lot of my philosophies of life even at the age of 8/9 which I still hold.
Thoroughly enjoying your tour through Coventry ! Doesn't Make It Alright" is my Specials jam ! Ghost Town is very cool as well ! Watching the rest.. ✌️
Hi 👋 Thank you for sharing this. I love Ska music. I was 19 years old in 1979 when the Two Tone groups started. I like the Specials , the English Beat, Selecter, Bad Manners, and i have a cd boxed set of 2 Tone albums. I saw the movie Dance Craze in 1982. I like the Fine Young Cannibals too, and i have a double cd of their hits. One cd is of remixes. I would love to go to Coventry and visit the village. Thanks so much for recording your time there and showing me what's on offer there. From Carl in New Zealand.
That double FYC cd of the extended mixes is really excellent. I have a copy too and still listen to it. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you'll be able to get out to the 2-Tone Village.
Great video and thanks for sharing.Big fan of the Specials and the Beat. Bought their albums when first released. It’s fun to combine visiting musical sites and record stores while travelling. Cheers.
Nice video. I've not been to Coventry before even though it is less than two hours away from Cardiff. My favourite Ska record has to be The Height Of Bad Manners by Bad Manners. It is a greatest hits compilation but I love it because it is one of those records that has hit after hit after hit. I get almost addicted to it when I play it.
Thank you for sharing your visit to Coventry music museum seeing it through your eyes was quite special you made me feel like I was there too.another wonderful video. Peace ✌🏾 and blessings to you and your family.
Wonderful video 👍👍👍 I've been to the village/museum many times, seen live music there, enjoyed a hearty fry up in the cafe and generally come home with a record or two. My daughter enjoys the cake shop next door 😁 I've met the proprietor and his wife....lovely friendly people as are all the folk there 👍👍👍 I've got a good collection of records by The Beat and Two-Tone & Ska etc... in general. The Beat were a fantastic band and I don't think they got the plaudits they so richly deserved. Save it for later and Too nice to talk to and probably my fave tunes by them. I've got an original copy of the Dance Craze LP,had it since way back when but it was missing the poster that came with it. I recently purchased the new deluxe version which thankfully does have the poster !!! The Dance Craze movie was also released on dvd for the very first time recently, which I'll pick up some time.....I still have an old VHS copy of it. Glad you enjoyed your visit to the village 👍👍👍
Fantastic you've visited the 2-Tone Village so often. I'd like to go again sometime as well as climbing the Old Coventry Cathedral Tower that survived the Blitz. The Dance Craze dvd is also on my "want" list. Thanks for watching and sharing your 2-Tone /SKA experience.
This was a very interesting and enjoyable video. I never knew there was a 2-Tone museum in Coventry. It seems to be very small but very impressive. Thanks for showing us some snippets - Richard
I finally saw The Beat in 2015..In NY. Not the same... sans Ranking Roger (RIP) It was at a Wine Bar...I would've preferred the spit n sawdust of late 70s/early 80s Coventry tbh. I found it a bit too cabaret like. Having fulfilled a bucket list wish, I still was decidedly underwhelmed and left early... Hey.. .them's the breaks..
What an interesting museum . Thank you for showing your visit to the museum . You have inspired me to listen to my Specials and Beat albums again . Cheers !
Let me be the first so say....uh, got nothing to say except I'm the first to say it in the comments. Goofiness aside, love this channel and look forward to every upload.
The author is Bruce Talamon and the book is available online. It's a great and huge/heavy book with lots of rare behind the scenes images of the artists and bands. Thanks for stopping by and watching.
Ghost Town was influenced by Prince Buster's song "Ska Town" Have a listen: ruclips.net/video/Q-wFP3bQuIA/видео.html You will find that many Ska bands' hits were Prince Buster covers.
Oh wow. Had no idea. Thanks for the link. And yes, can hear how it was based on the faster tempo SKA Town song. Thanks for stopping by and for c the info.
@@retromusings A lot of 80's ska hits are songs from the 60's ...here is a common one but when you start looking, you find so many more ruclips.net/video/EZC6Ot1MLP0/видео.html

you're very cool
Thanks for watching and for your kind comment.
Coventry looks beautiful.
The ancient city was basically destroyed during WWII. It's home to Lady Godiva too. Certainly has a fighting rebellious spirit about it.
Thanks for sharing! BIG Beat fan, as well...
Thanks for stopping by and watching. Great to know there are still Beat fans out there.
