You speak of water intrusion. I purchased an older toon a couple years ago. While at the lake my gal took a picture of the toon coming in to dock. That was when I noticed her listing…the boat, not my gal. When she was trailered I pulled both rear plugs, fortunately it had them. There was a stream of water 20 minutes from one and maybe 10 from the other!! So I made up an air gauge with a valve. You must be careful and only add maybe 2 lbs of air, but found 4 stress cracks and maybe 4 holes on one, where the previous owner/ idiot drilled through the toon to mount the fuel tank! The other toon had 3 stress cracks and 5 holes where the battery clamps were! So for the cracks I used a marine grade JB Weld and for the holes I used an industrial caulking type of sealant. Also as you mentioned, both plugs were just snug with no thread tape or sealant!! So yeah, always a good idea to check, and so glad I had the plugs as I wouldn’t be too excited to drill into my pontoons!!

@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon Thank you so much for the quick reply and advice! I have a 2020 Barletta C22UC with a Mercury 150--full center toon. I don't have a trailer, so it sits in the water the whole season, and I can't pull it out. No doubt the algae is the main problem. Take it out water and clean toons. It works!!! I can tell a difference after a week. I left mine in six weeks one time and it dropped from 32 to 20. I took to get it worked on and they told me after 3 weeks nothing wrong with engine. They said they would clean tools for 295 bucks. I told them they were crazy and brought it home, cleaned just one of three to prove a point. That made a 5 mph difference. Cleaned other 2 and back to 32 that easy. Buy too bright and spray on with sprayer. The build up falls off within 2-3 minutes.
Also of note: A tritoon with an I/O will never be as fast as the same boat with an outboard on it of the same HP. Reason being the former has more weight further up from the stern whereas the latter has all the weight at the extreme end of the stern which will allow more of the boat to be out of the water which will then cause less drag.
@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon I don't know. It had no prominent markings that got my attention as to the size/HP rating. It was a pretty good sized motor, but not huge. Sounded like a pretty small displacement though, so 90-115 HP would be my guess. The boat is a tri-tune though, and no matter how I trimmed it, 23 MPH seemed to be the limit. But we didn't rent it to go fast. We're a bunch of old fogies that just wanted an outing on the lake.
Has anybody ever seen how a pontoon boat is held together? Not very sturdy! High speeds on thin aluminum, with mostly plywood holding it together ! Not smart!
@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon absolutely none and never will. Ive seen what 3/16" completely welded hull with 3 watertight compartments 34' aluminum boats can do. Stress crack and capsize. @@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon lol The ones that come by the house don't want to go fast, they can't see everything. I really question if a pontoon is make to go 100+ mph. Maybe it's a southeast thing but all the old people have pontoons on the TVA lakes, it's not uncommon to hear Elvis on the radio as they idle by. It's not just pontooners we get em on the road too. More info on Jack plates for pontoons
@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon Thank you for your return info , Iam going to Louisville Boat show to get more info , I saw a PlayCraft Tritoon has them.
I rented a pontoon boat, 6 adults on board and top speed with a slight tail wind was 23mph.
We're a bunch of old fogies that just wanted an outing on the lake.
there is only 1 reason.. motor too small
But my tritoon is not slow. It's a 50mph boat. Good enough for me and that's all I wanted.
So hell no on a pontoon. By the way im a licensed Captain 200ton. Master , (oil spill recovery, offshore supply boats, crewboats, marine salvage) i have seen the aftermath of these stronger and stronger poontoon boats.
Ha ha you're the kind of guy that would put a blower on a minivan. They're old and nosy, I live on the river so I see these dudes every weekend. It's like they're going to the dang zoo, "this is the river people in their natural environment. Don't wave at em, just stare. If you'll come at night you can see in their windows". Now I know why monkeys sling poo.
@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon lol The ones that come by the house don't want to go fast, they can't see everything. I really question if a pontoon is make to go 100+ mph. My parents lived one lake up from us, they would roundup all the old farts and go looking at houses (being nosy) on their pontoon. Maybe it's a southeast thing but all the old people have pontoons on the TVA lakes, it's not uncommon to hear Elvis on the radio as they idle by. It's not just pontooners we get em on the road too. I guess minding your own business is a superpower these days.
Somebody’s tin foil toque is on a little too tight
@@DanielSon69 The 1930s called, it wants it's hat back. Toque, where in the world did you come up with that, it was a good one however. lol I have em an F**k Biden flag to look at now and they are having a ball with it. I get more thumbs ups and people taking pictures of it to send their buddies. I guess a lot of people that aren't on YT haven't seen em ?
@@turdferguson5300 sorry my southern friend…toques are very much the rage up here in the GWN ⛄️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
@@DanielSon69 OK, so that's what made ya think of that, I had to Google it. I thought you were either very old or a genius. They say history repeats it's self. If ya see one in aluminum would you send it to me? lol
Maybe it's just me but I don't have any upholstery on my pontoons.
1. It’s a pontoon
2. It’s a pontoon

7. It’s not a speed boat
Fast Pontoon. Haha like Jumbo Shrimp, I guess.
Still a twin motor Pontoon looks pretty damn cool.
Next video, 7 reasons why you bought the wrong boat to go fast. Then, 7 signs that you're probably a dbag.
If you dont need to swallow your saliva then dont force a swallow. And quit smacking your lips. That's why I stopped watching this episode thums down
Look, it's a tritoon or a pontoon. Designed for leisure not racing down the lake at 100mph. Guys with personal size issues keep adding more and more hp. Mine is bigger than yours.
i think people just are starting to realize the potential tritoon has tho as a hull, they are a great leisure boat for lakes but can often handle seas pretty well and are capable of going fast with some additional features
