that… made active braking so much clearer. I understand why that works, electrically, now. Thanks!
This is the best wiring guide for the stryfe I've ever seen, good work Captain
Best layout and demo yet
I love how visual and intuitive this guide is! usually I have to look really close at a diagram per each wire, but with this one, it is easy to see at a glance.
Very informative!!👍
I love to learn.
This was one of the most clear and straight forward Nerf wiring explanations I've seen. Thank you! Very helpful.
Ah, teaching the underlying design, before showing a specific model. Very nice, and allows for expansion, and translation to other platforms.
Even your teaching is modular.
This is the best and simplest stryfe wiring tutorial I have seen. Ty as this helped a lot
This was incredibly helpful!
Thanks Captain Xavier! This guide is awesome. I use it every time now. I know how, but it’s a habit at this point.
As someone getting into basic electroblaster modding this is really nice.
Wow, incredibly simple to understand and you should definitely keep using the kit!
I like the kit..it makes it easier to follow as you terminate each run.
I am learning how to mod every step of the way with you Xavier
Thank you for this. Six years old and still damned helpful. I snagged a styfe last week from good will for 2$ figured it just need a simple fix up... nah they gutted it at least now i can fix it.
This is the best example i now understand you have taught me! Thank you cap
this was such a helpful video in explaining both the basics of wiring and circuits and exactly how the circuit in the stryfe works. thank you so much for making this! one suggestion: can you make a second wire from the switch that splits to the positive motors, and a split negative wire that reconnects as one to the battery? that way you can still do the same diagram as this one, but also show that the leads dont have to go to/from a single motor. (it also explains to people who have no experience in circuitry how one wire can be split into two and back, as is popular with most mods like you said about clear motor covers)
again, great video, i look forward to more like this one in the future!
I am not entirely sure I understand what you are requesting.
I just did this to my rayven that before I even saw your channel I named ire for wrath. but I did this to help me reduce confusion while I mod it because I do so quite frequently. thanks alot
This is actually REALLY helpful and really CLEAR best explanation yet
Really good wire guide for some one just starting out, I think this will even improve on people wire set ups in later harder rewires, great job Capt. ..also nice kit!
Cap, I like this a lot. I do think however that you should add an actual rewire to this kind of video so people can see how the basic circuit is applied to the styles hardware. Great job though this is wonderful.
Nice Work Man please do more guides like this.
Glad you enjoyed your visit to Texas. You should have come to Austin for SXSW
Very helpful
Perfect format, loved it. Keep them coming.
I've always wanted to mod a stryfe but didn't want to ruin anything internally so I never have. I am thinking it now because this was a great tutorial! Thanks so much! If I do what motors + cage should I get and what type of batteries. 2s or 3s lipo, I know a lot about those because I work with rc planes and cars that take these type of batteries.
The cage and wheels are mostly a matter of preference and budget. Some are better than others but honestly the difference is fairly minor. Motors and batteries are a different story. But they also depend on preference and budget. Although motors are fairly cheap. It really depends on how much power you want, which should be based on what you are going to be using it for. HvZ? Something very mild as it is mostly point blank range. NIC? Something much more powerful. Casual Public Nerf Wars? Something in between. There is no one right answer (despite what the elitists will tell you)
Captain Xavier Id probably use it at like casual public nerf wars and around my house. I wouldn’t want too much power but enough to pack a punch
Very helpful please continue on
This is super helpful. Thank you so much !
Great explanation
Best demo very simple keep it up
Yes this is very understandable thanks!
That was actually very helpful
perfect timeing with all the chaos of this subject on facebook lol
Looking good Captain. Will you be using the 3 color wiring system that some other youtubers have used for more complicated builds?
Yes
great vid i think you have a great idea here
I love it, really helps to visualize it
I actually really needed this thanks :)
This is magnificent
Can you do the rapid strike next I tried to wire it but failed horribly
Captain Xavier do you think we could get a wiring diagram for the infinus or revoltinator? Just some help isolating the special systems (lights loader)
Maybe...someday? I have yet to open or fiddle with either.
Totally easy to follow. My only question would be is the motor braking just personal preference? To brake or not to brake? Are there times when it's undesirable? Thanks!
I thought I covered that in the video...but in case I didn't: Motor breaking on the Flywheels is a matter of preference. It cuts down on noise but adds wear and tear on the motors. Motor breaking is, however, necessary in more complex blasters (stampedes, rapidstrikes, hyperfires, etc) as we will see in future episodes.
Captain Xavier awesome! Thank you! And thanks for the spectacular content.
if you had to pick, stryfe, modulus, demolisher or rayven? or flywheel stampede?
Wow this awesome dude i like this set up more lol
I had/have these, in fact the rc rover is directly behind me. I wish everything still worked. (and yes I could use it to build a nerf tank, but not today.)
Its very helpfull, thanks
pretty awesome
So simple, so good!!!
thanks very helpful
That was wicked hopeful do more like that
I like these vids!
Ive used this kit in AET before.
it is amazingliny clear
can you show how the stryfe with 3 switches and 3 motors work.. is it like a rapidstrike? I'm assuming it is because it has 3 motors...
It is exactly the same.
Ty so much
Just a quick question, is there a modding kit or something I can use to upgrade my Nerf rapidstrike?
Not really a kit. You generally have to buy all the parts separately.
Captain Xavier ok, thanks
Why battery to NO instead of battery to COM?
Because if you put battery to COM and add motor breaking you will create a short circuit and melt your battery. I teach it this way so it is simple and safe to add motor breaking.
i tried this and it popped, smoked. what could have happened to cause it do you think?
Gabe Towler you did something wrong...
really great layout, though!
Diagram Incomplete
when I open up my blaster, the actual wiring is more complex than your explanation
Can you do a more advanced guide that explains how what the 'thermistor' is doing?
also the switch for the jam door has all 3 legs wired up and I'm not sure why...
This is not a guide on the stock wiring. This is a guide to rewiring the blaster for high power motors and LiPo batteries. It assumes you are removing all of the original wiring and switches.
The thermistor prevents the motors from drawing too much current from the battery. It prevent damage in the case of a jam. The third wire in the jam door switch provides motor breaking to the flywheels so they halt if you open the jam door.
Well now I need a soldering iron
i mean the electric breaking BTW
Do a rapidstrike
Great set up Captain very easy diagram to follow. I think you already done videos on these, to see how you would wire up the select fire kit and or a full auto kit into something like this. Have you done any videos on any flywheels, cages, and motors combinations for best FPS performance. I like to see a Stryfe surpass the 200 FPS mark if possible, Again Great video and hope you had fun in Texas.
had the chance to mess around with a set like that in automotive, I did say keep with this type of vid
Outro lyrics:
SALSA COOKIES!
WINDMILL COOKIES!
This makes it so much easier! Always been frightened of tinkering with flywheel blasters but now I finally get it. Can't wait for the Rapidstrike video, have been meaning up upgrade that for ages.
Love it! I think another great blaster to cover for starters would be the Swarmfire.
Makes it extremely easy to trace the wires from a to b. The larger scale makes it easier to follow along. Looking forward to using the picture as a diagram as it is already color coded.
Just started modding and haven't done anything serious yes, this was helpful
Definitely helpful seeing a live wiring diagram, you actually get to see the results of the wiring setup.
It'll be a neat and intuitive way to teach this if you decide to continue, and I hope to see more.
I love usage of the snap circuits for a nice simple step by step tutorial.
This honestly helped
When I was a nerf noob I did not label my positive and negative on my battery tray or my motors. Could you make a video showing this for a stryfe please.
I like it... simple but effective... I want to know the Rapidstike next... I know there 2 different way to wire it up maybe more.
I like the teaching tool for going over circuit layouts. I vote make more vids of this kind (I can't wait til you get to MOSFETS - I barely understand them and the community needs more educational resources in this area). I also love that you included a discussion of the motor braking option. Lots of guides have the COM tab on the switch wired to the positive from the battery which negates even the option of motor braking. Wiring COM to the positive on the motors leaves that door open with out requiring that anyone walk through it if they don't want to and I really like that you presented that in this guide.
I love this format. Very helpful and informative. I was wondering about motor braking.
The layout board makes it a lot easier to follow than pretty much all of the wiring videos I have seen to date, including some pretty sharply made ones. The enlarged scale makes things pop a great deal more.
I would continue using this. Beats a breadboard. :)
That was WORLDS more helpful than some guides
Fantastically helpful for someone who has never really messed around with circuits!
@Captain Xavier i have one thing to tell you that I messaged you on messenger. And i was going to privately tell you something very intresting
It was helpful and nonconfusing for once yay. DONT SELL IT ON EBAY
I really like this video. Makes the entire concept much easier to visualize. Thank you.
this is better that standard mod tips.. much easier to follow through when modding :)
This is real life redstone if you get it you get it, and if you don’t go play a video game.
Love it! I am very interested in seeing videos for the Hyperfire and the Rapidstrike
Awesome demo, could we get a 3 switch rapidstrike demo?
This is very helpful and easy to understand keep it up man
This is an easy way to understand and able to duplicate
Was Jared's war as epic as the stories have foretold?
Much easier to understand! Great idea thank you!
What if we dont have a rev trigger like yours?
that's like my hotwires strangely similar
those are the best but I did the hardest one in 5 minutes
This is amazing. Can't wait for more.
I have snap circuits I have two of them
Love it, do more of it!!
Its perfect, i totally get it now!
Could you do the regulator mod guide?
Very simple to understand especially for visual learners like me! Just by a snap of a wire, I now know how to do motor braking!
I have studied so many other nerf stryfe mods videos and channels on motor braking but I simply could not understand what they were talking about!
Definitely looking forward to more complicated stryfe mods like ammo counter, select fire switch installation and much much more (i.e. if this circuit kit can illustrate)!!!
Btw, do you have a link to The Curator's channel? Thank you Captain Xavier!
I forgot to explain WHY motor breaking works. I will have to remember to do that in future vids. They will all have it so it will come up.
Just search The Nerf Curator. You can't miss it.
Hi Captain, thanks for the great video. Regarding the snaps circuit kit, I'm nterested in buying that same kit, it there a model number or special kit name to it to help track it down?
Regards.
Kev.

You explained that most eloquently and brilliantly, bravo! Captain, this is the best video for wiring looms I have ever seen, you explained it so simply and made it so easy even a total novice could understand it and, it's also great for people who want to learn a bit more (like me) about motor braking or get a refresher.
That was Incredibly useful, especially explaining motor braking, which I was intending to look up for my Stryfe build and definitely my Rayvens when I install a new cage and motor assemblies, which use pretty much the same circuit (and Modulus ECS-10, etc.).
That is a great piece of kit to explain circuits, I want one!
This is definitely a series I would love to see more on, like the Monday mod tips.
I understand the concepts and logic the of how some things SHOULD work, but this proves that things DO work, and explains it how much more clearly.
I'm re-doing my wiring now :)
Thanks buddy, excellent video which I hope will grow into a great series!
