This beautiful rendition of what is a (tastefully) sentimental song with a quintessentially English atmosphere, brought tears to the eyes of a 56 year old seasoned prog rocker. Thank you. It made my day.
Who would've thought! This song I thought was long forgotten except for real Genesis enthusiasts. Lia, once again hats off for another excellent performance ! Thank u and all who are involved. Cheerio!
Ok I’m late but I have to say, this is one of my favorite songs from Nursery Chryme and this is just so good. I was choked up the entire time and a tear rolled down my face. Thank you what a wonderful rendition.
Lia, what a pleasure to see you! I hope your Mom will show you many Genesis songs like that... and then you make a surprise for all of us, singin them! kisses!
Ooooo! Lia and Yael, that was splendid - and worth that long wait! You are lucky having your own resident arranger! Well done both. Can't wait for the next? Thank you.
Oh my God...it's like I close my eyes and hear an angel singing. I love this song. Thanks for your amazing perform. Congratulations for you and for the pianist too.
I really love Genesis early material, I have this song on my daily play list, It's such a beautiful song. Really wonderful to hear this version!, almost made me tear up. Thank you.
Wow! That was awesome, I loved it. Its good that someone your age, who was not even born when that song was recorded are still singing it now. .. You take care, and keep singing and posting Videos on here. You got a new subscriber :-)
Pure angelic perfection. I never quite heard it like this. What joy! She even got the northern-accented "toopence" right. Genesis mega-fan since Trespass. Thank you SO much. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just an idea that has occurred to me since posting this message: Can I suggest moving beyond the world of the softer Genesis songs, and tackling similar works by other prog artistes of the era? Five songs immediately occur to me as being worthy of Lia's lovely voice: Starlight Ride by Camel (from the 'Breathless' album); O Caroline by Matching Mole (from the 'Matching Mole' album) (even if some of the lyrics aren't entirely appropriate for a young female's interpretation, I feel sure she could handle it sensitively); Watching Over You by Emerson Lake And Palmer (A daunting suggestion? No, actually this was a solo by Greg Lake, but included on ELP's Works, Volume Two compilation); We Will Meet Them Again by Virginia Astley (A wonderfully talented but criminally under-appreciated British singer/songwriter of wistful, pastel-coloured songs that bear comparison to some of Anthony Phillips' early solo material. Lia would do well with this beautiful, poignant song); and another Genesis song, A Trick Of The Tail would, I believe, be the perfect vehicle for her fragile vocal style. I'm sure there are many other songs from that time that would be worth her trying out. Finally, there are many lovely, sweet songs by The Beach Boys which would match well to the purity of Lia's voice - the only problem here would be in approximating the layered vocals of the originals. I'm thinking of songs such as You Still Believe In Me (from 'Pet Sounds' - covered to perfection by Kirsty MacColl); Meant For You (a brief - 38 seconds - fragment of a song on the 'Friends' album), and a slightly longer song from the same album, Wake The World; and finally, two tracks from the magical 'Surf's Up' album: the mesmeric Feel Flows, and then the greatest masterpiece the band ever recorded - the title track, Surf's Up. This requires a very highly practiced voice to cover effectively. I'm sure that over the years, Lia's voice has developed to the point where she could do this magnificent but subtle song justice, and could well match Brian Wilson's extraordinary original, in her own unique way. Will Lia ever go into a recording studio to make an album? I hope she does, and wish her every success in that event. Thank you, Lia and Yael!
Yael Shachar Felicitaciones...ver que una niña canta cosas de genesis o de los beatles como en otros videos siento no esta dl todo perdido..en este puto universo
