  • This video is part 3 in our Public Services series and all about signs for people who volunteer in the community. Whether you volunteer in your local food bank, nursing home, museum, voting polls, animal shelter or somewhere else, we have signs for you. Stick around to the end and I teach you how to put these signs into sentences that you can use today.

    Thank you so much for this video. You are just marvellous! I would like to have more information about how to become officially certified in ASL mainly for adults. Thank you in advance.

    Thank you so much for this!!! I have a question, how many signs should I know before trying to go to a deaf church for example? I know about 1,000-1,500 signs(Thanks to YOU)!!

      I have attended Deaf services, but not a Deaf church. I wouldn't say you need to know a specific number of signs before going to a Deaf church. You know many signs already, so I assume that includes the basics. Communicate with Deaf using the basics, and let them help you as needed. Remember that Deaf are the experts, so they are the best ones to learn from. Enjoy the journey.

      @@gardeniagirl1374Thank you so much!! I'm just so nervous that deaf people will be frustrated when I know a sign. But this helps, thank you!

      @@JacobRandolph-gl2vq , they will not be mad, they will be very happy that you are trying. Most people do not make an effort t learn their language. just have fun and try your best. You know enough signs and you got this!!!! Deaf are very kind people and they will just be appreciative.

    An ear infection blew out half my hearing in my right ear. It’s only a matter of time before that hearing goes away completely. It would be nice to be able to communicate without being too dependent upon hearing aids.

    Love these. Have a hard time with some examples, as it's too fast, or not enough on new signs, or I can't see it from the angles given. I'm trying though. Did you see the Amazing Race...

      Hey friend, I actually take advantage of the slow down video perk in the settings and put it at .25X the speed to see signs that are too fast, hope it helps😄

    I learned the sign for DOG years ago, but it never occurred to me that it is D to G sideways and ending in a snap. I always thought it was a snap alone. SIGN BALLOT SAME-AS ELECTION, ENVELOPE?

    What's the difference in shirt and volunteer and tea and election? Thank u.

    • @gardeniagirl1374
      @gardeniagirl1374 7 месяцев назад +1

      For VOLUNTEER you pull the shirt outward (like taking the person with you to volunteer somewhere), but you do not pull it for SHIRT. For TEA you stir it, but you do not stir anything for ELECTION.
