  • Rising fuel prices are forcing buyers to look at alternate fuel options, and the two most suitable alternatives are CNG and Electric. While it's widely known that both of these options reduce running cost as compared to petrol, there is also a premium you pay to buy them in the first place. In this video, we find out if the lower running cost can justify the purchase premium? And is there a compromise in the space and practicality if you choose these alternative fuel options. To keep this video as fair as possible, we will use the Tata Tigor, the only car in the country to have offered all fuel types - petrol, diesel, CNG and electric. Today, we have the CNG and EV with us.

Its a good comparo video but there is one most important practical bit that was missed to discuss. We don't get automatic transmissions in CNG vehicles. Driving manual in Cities is a curse. So for automatic transmission, we need to go for petrol, diesel or EVs.

I am a nexon EV owner, from the price point of view it is 100% correct that Petrol-CNG is a much much better option than EVs.
Running cost is almost same for both EVs and CNGs, and you will never get a peace of mind if u are an ev owner. Lot of issues such as range anxiety, power cuts, unpredictable electronics behind the vehicle, un reliable fast charging points ( you may have a real luck to charge from a fast charging point), time consuming fast charging( almost 90 minutes)...
The breakaway point for an EV is almost 1 lakh kms compared to petrol vehicle.
Only benefit i felt is its superior on road performance.
But from all other aspects its better to buy a petrol-cng vehicle.

All the electric, petrol and CNG cars have their own pros and cons. Pros for petrol:- Better power.- fuel stations are easily available.- service centers are easily available. Cons for petrol:- Pollution.- The consumption of petrol is costlier. Pros for electric:- Electric cars are highly economical compared to their petrol counterparts.- Electric cars are totally pollution-free. Cons for electric:- less service availability and charging stations.- E-Cars may not have the same life as petrol vehicles because motors may not last as long as engines. However, motors are replaceable. It may be concluded that electric cars are suitable for those who have to travel only certain Kms daily. It can be considered to be suitable for traveling in a city or town with traffic. On the other hand, as an alternative fuel, CNG combusts more efficiently than conventional fuels. This, in turn, translates to lower tailpipe emissions. Now some might argue that electric cars do not harm the environment as there are no tailpipe emissions. However, the electric vehicle industry is still at a very nascent stage as the country still lacks the charging infrastructure required to support them. Moreover, you can have a test drive of the cars for a better idea of comfort and drive quality by visiting the nearest dealer in your city. Selecting the right fuel type depends on your utility and the average running of the car. If you drive less than 50km in a day then we recommend you to go with a petrol car as they are easy to maintain, have a longer life span and they cost less initially than the diesel car. On the other hand, diesel cars are preferred if the average daily run is more than 50km which makes it a feasible purchase. Diesel cars are more fuel-efficient and provide more torque, therefore, are preferred for a person who drives more than 50km. Whereas, petrol engine has a low service cost, more life span, generally has a well-controlled NVH level and are cheaper in cost than the diesel engines. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test drive before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details: bit.ly/2kDxUPm
