We sang this at church today. Our musical director has terminal cancer, and the truth of these words struck us all with almost a . . . ferocity. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the sanctuary. Our praise and gratitude for Him came from such a deep place within us. What a glorious and gracious Lord we serve!
God has held my life together for a long time. I would have wrecked my marriage a thousand times. Thank you Jesus for holding us in the palm of your hand.
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
Colossians 1:15-20
This truth that I was not only created by Jesus, but also for Jesus blows my mind. It completely changes how I want to live and what I want to do with my life. Thank you God for always reminding me that this is not my real home and that all my problems are so very small and light in comparison to eternity.
He's the image of the invisible God
The firstborn of creation
By Him, all things were created in heaven and earth
Seen and unseen
Rulers, dominions, and powers and kings
He holds all things, all things
All things together
He holds all things, all things
All things together
He is the head of the body, the church
The firstborn from the dead
So in everything, He is the head
And the fullness of God was pleased to dwell
In Him to reconcile to Himself
All things, all things
All things together
He holds all things, all things
All things together
Through Him and for Him, all things were made
Through Him and for Him, all things were made
He is before all things, in Him, all things hold together
Through Him and for Him, all things were made
Through Him and for Him, all things were made
He is before all things, in Him, all things hold together
He made peace, He made peace
He made peace by the blood of His cross
He made peace, He made peace
He made peace by the blood of His cross
He holds all things (He made peace, He made peace)
All things together (He made peace by the blood of His cross)
He holds all things, all things (He made peace, He made peace)
All things together (He made peace by the blood of His cross)
He holds all things, all things (He made peace, He made peace)
All things together (He made peace by the blood of His cross)
He holds all things, all things (He made peace, He made peace)
All things together (He made peace...)
My pastor is preaching on Colossians 1 right now and sent this to me. What a blessing. The echo really reinforces the words. The pastor said that this passage was most likely an early Christian hymn/creed. I was wondering if anyone in modern times had ever set this to music. Thanks, Randy!
thank you Lord for holding us together despite how broken and corrupt we are may we worship the one who redeems those that he loves and makes all things new
Andrew Peterson is definitely the Don Fransisco of this generation.
Oh, the mystery of this makes my heart sing!
Thank you for bringing Jesus to us in your music
nice call back to "All Things New." this album is sooooooo goood
Colossians 1
Stunning lyrics, music, everything! And a fantastic reminder that He indeed holds it all together, even when it doesn't feel like it.
Colossians 1:15-20!
I love this song. I often listen to it over and over.
I love how "All Things New" pops in at the end! So beautiful and well made!
The end and the beginning, and throughout!
The overlaying of voices is incredible
I love this song too! My church has asked me to do a set of teaching videos on Colossians and for Chapter 1 I am urging people to find this and do what the early Colossians probably did…say it and SING it. Many scholars think it was an early hymn that Paul inserted into his letter. Andrew does a wonderful thing with it. Thank you
This song impacts me on such a personal level. As I listen to the refrain "He holds all things together" I could feel how God held the pieces of my heart together after my mother's death. God showed His mercy and allowed me to get back to the hospital to be holding her hand when she took her last breath. My heart felt broken in 17 million pieces, but I could feel His hands holding them tenderly in place, guiding me back to His presence.
Wow, what an amazing testimony. Lovely to hear how you felt the Lord's presence holding you together in your time of need. I'm sorry for your loss & I've just prayed for you & your family. God bless x
P.S. Here's another song on a similar theme - You Hold It All Together by All Sons & Daughters - ruclips.net/video/PkalShCfEi8/видео.html
He made peace!
If Klove would play more songs like this, I would probably listen to it more.
This may be the best on the album and that is wild so say with "Is He Worthy?" and "Remember Me."
I love the canon with "All Things New" in the background.
This song ends right into "All Things New", the first song of the next volume.
Blesssings...Prayers and Praise😇
What a beautiful song! God bless you.
Another song played by Andrew Peterson singing all things together
Wonderful🙏 Enjoyed listening to this.
Hmm I never seen this piece of the song by Andrew Peterson in the song called all things together
Question, “the firstborn of creation”… is he saying that Jesus was created??
It's in Colossians 1:15
