According to Sriman Madhvacarya The Vedic Cannon is divided into three parts: 1) Bhagavad Gita (Smriti Prasthanna) 2) Upanishads ( Shruti Prasthanna) 3) Brahma Sutra ( Nyaya Prasthanna) These three together known as Prasthanna Trayi. And, whenever There is a contradiction between a Shruti Vakya and Smriti Vakya, then Shruti Vakya will Rule first.
