@pojo1010 A reason to not change something can't be "its always been like" as that is no reason at all. You need to argue what does it serve? Why does hockey have a fighting culture when other team sports do not? I have played competitive hockey all my life and I have watched a lot guys who have 9-5 jobs get so hurt over nothing because of this "culture" It has nothing to do with the game.

It's easy to get caught up in the emotion of watching the game and see the fights he's had, and cheer as the guys are slugging each other, but I still hold my breath anytime I see a guy get taken down like he has in his last two. He's young, he's big, and probably feels indestructible. But knowing what we know now about CTE, seeing the massive impact it's had on the quality of life for enforcers that had to retire early, it's hard not to imagine a worst case scenario for this kid.
Think about the end game if everyone is tame all the time. I mean in all aspects of life throughout history. Think about where that leads us. Is humanity really doomed to sitting dormant all day with only video games for entertainment as they slowly remove risk from everything in society? I would 100% accept getting punched in the head and suffering as life went on if it meant my family never struggled or went without. Do you think anybody would ever go watch junior hockey if there was no fighting? Hockey on its own is not enough to keep people entertained. Should we also limit race cars to to 40km/hr so they don't crash? People watch racing for crashes, people watch hockey for the chance to see skill and a bit of violence. Not every team has a superstar, which means they need other ways to fill the house.
We don't know much about CTE. For all we know, you may be born with CTE and are more suceptible to concussions as a result. If you only cut open the brains of people with dementia, than you won't know what causes the dementia. But it seems many people who did not play professional sports and did not get numerous concussions get dementia.
@@blairhicks994 I don't agree that people watch hockey only for the fights and racing only for the crashes. But i absolutely love the fights, i love the Rangers and i love Ragin' Matt Rempe aka the Rempire State Building. I hope he stays healthy and doesn't suffer from concussions, but i'm praying for a rematch in our next game, which is against the Blue Jackets, and for a victory in both the match and the fight.
Really well put, Gino. I was hoping someone would point this out. I love a hard played hockey game but I don't want someone to suffer life-long brain damage for the sake of "entertainment". A spontaneous fight amongst two guys battling in the corner or in front of the net I'm OK with. But what's happening to this kid is a one-way ticket to CTE. Remember Derek Boogaard?
The one thing I find staggering about what Gino said, and I agree with most of it, is that he seems to assume the league cares if he gets hurt. If you believe the league cares, I have some property in the mud flats you may want. I've seen players get drilled head first into the boards, and only a minor penalty called. The NHL Pretends to care, but like our government, the only thing they care about is their pocket books and their positions of power. I hope this Rempe kid doesn't pay a horrible price.
He is fresh to the league, he is just trying to get noticed. He already has a goal and an assist, if he keeps getting points and making nice bodychecks, he will be in the league for a long time. Don’t need to fight every night.
problem is . he is fighting pretty much every night with a player that can fight him. I don't blame people not fighting him. eventually nobody would fight Chara. Rempe barely plays (only play 5+ min a night.) Is that really time to show hockey sense or just take your gloves off.
Do you think they brought him to make tape to tape passes and get goals? No...They brought in a 6'7" depth player that can hit and throw. He knows why they hired him and hes taking it to the extreme. Hes already earned his stay.
I have a 21 year old son that is playing his first year of college hockey. I put in comparison how Rempe and my son are the same age and could not imagine my son at 21 fighting guys in their 30’s that are experienced fighters and physically more mature. The Rangers and the league need to help protect young players like Rempe because yes if it continues the end result could be very dangerous.
It’s apart of the game. People fight in real life all the time. He’s 21 not 16. At what point are we just going to stop pushing the age of an adult back? It’s not 18 anymore? It’s not even 21 as far as you’re concerned.
yes, i like to watch the fights overall. But the reality is that 3 fights in 5 games is not a great trend. Especially since he almost struck his head twice. There is a correlation between blows to the head and CTE. And having a tough guy on the ice does not deter the stars from getting hurt. Bedard still had his jaw broken, makar still got 2 concussions in 2 weeks. Its time for the head coach to step in and tell him to take it down a notch on the pre-planned fights.
Who cares what happens to this kid/ athlete. He a tool to put fans in seats and watching on TV. Sports are a business. If he breaks down tomorrow you just toss the tool in the trash and go buy another tool!
@@triples3768 i totally get that. but i dont want a 21 year olds career to be over before it started because he is challenged by bottom 6 older players trying to stay in the league. the fights should happen organically; not discussed during warm ups.
The problem with this kid isn’t that he’s a goon. It’s OK to have goons. The problem is he’s not talented. He’s only there because he’s 6 “7 he has virtually no talent and his height makes it so that no one can really fight him. It’s not that a super tough or that he’s really good at fighting or hitting. It’s just his height if he was 6 foot one or 6 foot three or four he would get his butt whipped by so many people. . this is why Chara gotten so much trouble for years
Gino - I am a lifelong fan of the Rangers and have been thrilled that we finally have the kind of toughness that has long been missing. I love the enthusiasm and everything about this kid. BUT, I couldn’t agree with you more about this guy getting irreparably injured, especially due to the fighting. He’s definitely made EVERYONE in hockey land take notice. I think back to how we lost our young phenom Philip Chytil due to concussion from a relatively standard and iirc, “clean” hit. As soon as he collapsed in his first practice back I put my rabid fandom on the back burner. I don’t want to see these youngsters exit earlier than is necessary with a traumatic brain injury as a souvenir. I appreciate your opinion and insight.
And when he leaves the game for fighting and the other team retaliates on people that can actually play hockey what then? Picturing Panarin getting his face put to the ice by Wilson here.
You called it. Reaves and Rempe just went last night. As much as I love seeing it as a fan... your video actually helped me change my mind quite a bit on the entire situation. He doesn't need to answer the bell EVERY night.
I don't know if Kordics brain was analyzed like some other deceased enforcers. Alcohol Cocaine and Steroids Kordics downfall. Many NHLers these days develop Opioid habits.
Completely changed my perspective on this. I realize now I was caught up in the hype and not fully grasping the risk this kid is taking every time he drops the gloves. He’s too young to have his career cut short scrapping with a bunch of old enforcers. Thank you for making this video!
Guys before him have fought a lot more. This chicken little "2 inches away" didnt happen to ANY of the guys he fought and whether guys at TSN want to admit it or not, its NOT the refs job to prevent fights. The players overwhelmingly want the right to self police. Whether this is a spur of the moment fight or a staged fight they dont care. If a coach at home sees rempke on the ice and sends his toughie to line up against them, you can't feign surprise when they go. I would hope the kid fights less, but that's up to him to decide.
I’m sorry if it came across as I’m discouraging fighting as a way to police the game. I’m all for it, and I agree that the refs shouldn’t stop it. I just didn’t want the kid to feel like he’s gotta fight everyone all the time right out of the gate like he has been. Seems like we agree on him being a little more careful though.
Kid needs to dial it back. He's not bad on the ice and won't stay healthy long enough to develop into a complete player. His equally large linemate Edstrom isn't having to fight every irrelevant vet in the league like Rempe does.
Gotta hand it you Gino, your take while not popular with a lot of us “old time hockey fans” makes too much sense to argue with. I love the kid’s infectious enthusiasm and I’m happy for him but kinda concerned now. If the dang helmet would just stay on during the scraps at least we wouldn’t have to worry as much about it:/
As someone who lived through all the battles of the “Broadstreet Bullies” ( aka Philadelphia Flyers) with Fred Shero as their head coach all I can say is ; It’s NOT worth it !! The only place for violence is on an actual battlefield - NOT during a sporting event !! It always leads to senseless hard feelings among players and fans alike !!
100% agree. Once, twice maybe, okay. Now, it's ridiculous. Play hockey and make an impact with clean, physical play. He's capable of that. If a fight comes in the natural course of the game, fine, but this staged stuff is ludicrous. The kid is going to get hurt. He's 21. His teammates, coaches and the refs need to step in and inject some sanity into the proceedings. Where are the adults?
the rangers did the same thing to derrick BooGaard. they expected a fight from him and a highlight reel every game and it broke him and in the end killed him.
@@Tully13Out of curiosity did his brain explode from CTE or did he take too many opiates and consume a lot of alcohol?. Because I'm pretty sure an OD took his life. Not CTE.
@HudsonPeters3 yes he was still playing. I think it was while he was in rehab for an injury. A former ECHL player got the drugs with an illegal prescription and sold them to him.
@HudsonPeters3 they do now. Current players can enter the player assistance program and former players have the alumni association to assist them with anything.
I had the pleasure of watching Rempe play for the Seattle Thunderbirds. He was my favorite player at that level because of his heart. He wasn’t the best skater and wasn’t the best with the stick but he was scrappy and always entertaining. He is using his best talents the best way he knows how and the crowd loves him for it. Yes, his play can be dangerous but I am sure he is aware of the risks. He wants ice time and is getting it the best way he knows how. I love him for it and will not hold it against him. Play your game Rempe. We miss you in Seattle.
It’s great entertainment, but 5 years from now people won’t remember the fights, the kid will remember the concussions for the rest of his life and become a cautionary tale He’s gotta chill, maybe Crosby can give him a call and get through to him
We are living in times where old school hockey with fighters are long gone and at today's hockey it's completely unnecessary. Players now showing well trained skills with puck and stick technically, scoring goals, skating fast, you can't score a goal if you will fight every game. Laviolette need to step up and tell kid to start play hockey not boxing
I get the predicament he’s in. If challenged he doesn’t want to seem like one to back down. And the older guys will take advantage of a young guys naivety. But if Reavo asks to drop the gloves and you want to make your name as an up and coming enforcer then you DROP EM. No question. Just hope it cools off a bit and he saves it for the moments that count.
Very well said. To be frank as the years have gone on and I've gotten older I kind of have gotten tired of the fighting. Not gonna lie tough, I remember when I would get excited and get off my chair and cheer. Then when you start to hear about the long term head injuries that a lot of enforcers deal with, Its heart breaking really. I know I will get some flak or be called a softy for airing how I feel, but this isn't the hockey fan in me talking, its the human ( mind body and soul) element in me I guess.
You are just intelligent. Fighting is a primitive comportment. Blocking shots and hits on board is tough enough. I remember the crowd shouting et cheering for fights at school. But who wanted to be in the ring and get beaten ? Growing up as adult and cheering for kids risking their health is stupid and coward , as simple as that. Professional fighters have numerous rules to protect them while NHL have none. Ice surface, sharpen blades, bare knuckles fist, hetmet and visor … Fighting is illegal in the street, should be illegal on a rink. Like in rugby and football.
I see a 2-4 years in the league if he keeps this up. Mid way through year 2 he’ll be wearing a tinted visor to help with the lights. As he starts to get hit by younger more seasoned players the concussions will come more frequently he’ll be missing more and more games. NYR may resign him but he’ll be lucky to make $1.5m. By the end of season 5 he’ll have never proved he has what it takes in the league. He’ll be out on waivers and play the rest of his short career in the AHL until his CTEs are too significant to play. I don’t mind a good hockey scrum in the heat of a game or to protect your goalie. This kid is going to get hurt. He’s not that great of a fighter to begin with.
Kids had some of the best fights I’ve seen in the last 15 years this week. He’s made a name for himself right away, he’s proven he’s a bad ass and has earned the respect of some of the toughest in the league and I’m sure the rest of the will follow. But dude you do not need to do it every game, settle down let your head rest. Unless someone rocks your star player, give your body a few games in between. All the best you animal 👊.

@@sotiriosnovatsis4529 He could say no and try to beat the other team with his play. If there is a dust-up, then drop them, but you don’t have to take every offer, especially if you almost cracked your skull in two out of three fights.
Terrible take, Gino. You are publicly jinxing this kid, and admitted the media is just waiting to jump on a negative story. Do you not understand how vile that is? The Rempe Roadshow isnt as bad as the TSN Sideshow. Clowns.
Apparently hes not, according to the refs..... Five or more full strides AND leaves his feet at 6 foot 7. Gimme a break. How is that not suspension worthy.... HOW..
Thats honestly not how CTE works, and we dont know enough about why it happens in some people and not others. Clearly it is a far more complicated issue than just: Hits to head = CTE. Because thats not true, and is a vast simplification of a more complex medical condition.
three fights in less than a week, including two days in a row, and they're all prearranged fights? Absolutely reckless. I don't blame the kid for accepting the fights, but Laviolette needs to tell him he doesn't need to accept every challenge.
I know he is a very big kid, but "kid" is the part we need to realize. He may have some skills and abilities, but experience will almost always beat out the young rawness. He needs to practice his balance and stance as it is imperative when engaging in a fight on hockey skates.
Actually he is an adult man, fully capable of making any decision he feels is best for his own life. No one is holding a gun to his head or forcing him to play. Don’t want to fight then don’t, his choice not yours. Want to fight? Then fight, and live with the consequences and or benefits of again… his choice/decision. The game is probably the ultimate blend of speed, skill, hitting, toughness , and even violence. “Toning down” any one of those aspects would greatly take away what makes this game so great. I do not want to go to a game and witness a glorified “skills competition” (like at the All-Star Game).
Not a cool comment u don’t know terry Ryan’s story nor what he had to deal with from the couching staff they completely changed his style of play don’t make bullshit comments when u don’t got the facts to back it up
I agree - there should be a real reason for the fight. There will be plenty of opportunities to prove his toughness in the course of his career, without staged fights.
Been watching hockey a long time, need to bring back the enforcers. No one forces them to do it. But kids like Pettersen and Bedard need to be protected. Boogard, as an example, another being Rypers, but there are always bright spots and guys that were fan favorites like Odjick. They got hurt doing what they do, I know of lots of NHLers that also had their careers ended from concussions and TBI that were not fighters. We need to stop all these mid-sized cheapshot artists from skating around unabated.
Peter Laviolette and staff need to be held accountable. This is a blatant abuse of a young player. Yeah neolithic fans dig it but eventually the abuse will take its toll on Rempe and when it does I hope the Rangers are able to help him. It is not too late Peter to do the right thing.
Gino...absolutely bang on assessment. This kid is a pawn. Rempe couldn't take Revo down. An aged pro 16 years older, 6 inches shorter and 20 pounds lighter. Rempe is a heavy weight disaster waiting to happen. Blame the Rangers and the NHL. Kid can't skate. No hands. He knows the only way he can stay in the League is to fight. All staged fights so far. Kid is a pawn. He is either going to get badly hurt or he will hurt someone badly on one of his charging hits. Let's hope he doesn't take out a super star. He will not see a minute in the playoffs. Reaves and the other old guys he has faught will. Feel sorry for him. A pawn for the Rangers and the NHL to sell tickets.
Athletes and people need to leave him alone and let him play hockey. The folks encouraging this behaviour are the goons. It's obvious all the people that want to see him fight and don't learn from the past are undeserving to be a part of the sport or fanbase
Undeserving? Bud, fighting is and ALWAYS WILL BE part of the sport. Obviously the kid does not need to answer the bell EVERY night... but this is going to happen. If you can't accept the fighting aspect of the sport, maybe it's you that needs to move on and find something else. They are willing participants, they make their own decisions. If they decide to fight and a fan enjoys it that doesn't make said fan "undeserving". If they fight they fight and we accept that because that's the way it is and HAS to be. Enforcers enforce for a reason. You can't let everybody on the ice get away with bs all night without any consequence. Hockey is different from other sports in that way... they govern themselves on the ice to make sure certain skaters don't take advantage. Reaves chased Rempe down all night... Rempe then looked to his bench and they gave the green light. Was he supposed to keep letting Reaves punk him all night? You don't respond he then thinks he can get away with whatever he wants on the ice. It's always been this way.
I’m a Blackhawks fan, but Rempe is one of my absolute favorite players now. The guy is hard-nosed and kind of dirty, but he brings a toughness and physicality that has been missing for years.
Totally agree with you. Hopefully Rempe learns the fighting probably got him to the NHL but only his hockey skills will keep him in the NHL. Can't fight every night but just being a presence on the ice will help the Rangers.
Geno, you think the refs can just step in and say "not tonight?" I think you are delusional here. They can't police every inch of ice and stop everything from happening. The rules still allow fighting. Your point about his overexuberance and the dangers of him falling and fairing badly in a fight are valid, even though your comment about him not fairing well against Deslauriers is just simply not true. It was in his third fight that he faired poorly. You are right about his coach though. He can police him and should be telling him to pick his spots and protect himself better.
The coaching staff needs to tell him to lay off.. he doesn’t have to engage everytime an opponent challenges him..he needs to prove his worth as a hockey player .. he needs to learn the game at the NHL level or he’ll be gone quick.. someone needs to settle him down. He’s young and can do well with the right mentor
The problem with this kid isn’t that he’s a goon. It’s OK to have goons. The problem is he’s not talented. Rempe is only 21 years old he needs some veteran guys telling him he doesn’t have to fight every time someone asks him to fight. He should be hitting people and putting fear into them be smart and have fun. He seems nice kid full of energy and enthusiasm!!
I fukin HATE having to sound like a keyboard warrior but I'm forced to for my comment. From the age I'd 14 to 25 I got in somewhere in the area of 150 street fights plus 1 years of 13 MMA fights in 1999 with no gloves/ weight limits. I won some, lost some, got jumped, got knocked out 4 times. I have had like 23 stitches and 6 broken bones not counting the nose (mostly in hands) With all this I went on to a 20 year firefighter career and am now 47 with no signs symptoms what so ever of any brain damage. Fighters fight, we know and accept the risks. Leave us alone to do what we enjoy.
I actually agree. He needs to slow down and pick his spots. This will accomplish two things. 1. He will be healthier for it 2. It will be more exciting for the fans to not know when it will occur.
Interesting take. Thanks for putting the vids together so we could see the clear pattern of pre-game discussion with aging veterans and the danger of his head hitting the ice.
I think I'd feel different if he was the one cleanly winning these fights and it was veterans making the decision to engage with it, but he's being viewed as a 6'7" tree that can be felled and he's sort of the victim of it and that does feel more predatory. I don't mind a good fight, I think it is good for the game but like being said here the fights aren't for anything, it's not the traditional protecting your star honour code stuff, and I had the same feeling about how he fell both times, just fell in a very dangerous way.
Mate, this kid isn't being felled like a tree; just take a look at the faces of his opponents after these fights. And look what happened to his Devils challenger. Whether he wins or loses, everyone who has challenged him has had to pay some sort of price. And, actually, it is the veterans engaging him in challenges. Mathieu Olivier said so himself.
Not a fan of staged fights and like you said, the "predatory" nature of this leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If Reeves challenges him Saturday night in Toronto, he should be ashamed of himself. Rempe is a kid for Christ's sake.
As a Rangers fan, it's nice to see they have added toughness to the team. I get the first 2-3 games dropping the gloves but at this pace, he is going to end up a CTE candidate. He can use his size to wear down opponents, get in front of the net to create screens and yes, fight, when it's absolutely necessary, like defending a teammate. I love his energy and attitude. He is better to serve being on the ice than being in the penalty box.
Gino Reda, excellent presentation and you make valid, well thought-out points. I wonder where this will go for Rempe? Side show or legit NHL player? Either way I'll be watching the next NY Rangers game.
I think you raise an important point Paisan and it needs to be addressed for sure. I think your being a little unfair as the Kid held his own in every fight which of course is not the point, Noted. Like all new things this too will get old as what I think is happening like in so many things off the ice people are nostalgic for a different time. I respect and agree with your thinking, yes this is a dangerous business however as I previously stated it will I believe and hope wind down. The worst thing that can happen besides what seems to be a decent kid getting his head cracked is some other kid tries to emulate him and spawns a fighting fad that will drive the social networks straight to the bank which will in turn perpetuate an all hell breaks through senario, exactly what we don't want. Part of it I believe is he plays in NYC the media capital of the planet which of course magnifies everything (see Linsanity). I am hopeful this is a passing fancy and all will return to "normal" and the kid becomes a decent player and above all else remains healthy and happy.
That bruiser from Philly should get suspended for that take down. Obvious low grab on the legs. Just as bad as a slew foot or even worse in my opinion. Toe to toe honorable fighters keep their hands up. That low grab should warrant a suspension.
There's nothing to talk about here. The kid wanted his spot on the team and he got it! Everybody knows why he got the spot, it's not his stickhandling skills right? There's a 100 guys just like him waiting in line to fill their lifelong dream of playing in the NHL! Stop fucking speculating what can happen, Rempe doesn't care! He just wants to play hockey in the best league in the world.
The kid should absolutely slow down. If St. Louis's enforcer challenges him during warmups tomorrow night, Rempe should say "Nope. Nah-ah. Not gonna happen. Sorry." Rempe has proved himself already. He doesn't have to fight every single damn game. He's earned the right to pick his spots.
I understand your pov, but I still believe this kid needed to send a message to his bench too. He's there to protect and enforce, and not all the games require this. He's earning the respect of the league and he's making headlines. Once the next big thing arrives, he'll slow down, and start playing as any other enforcer.
Great assessment of Rempe and the hockey veterans picking fights with him. 2 observations (1) I like the old school fight, but (2) someone, most likely Rempe is going to get hurt and it will be due to the league, coaches and refs for not putting and end to it.
I sit up as much as anyone when there is a fight, but let's be honest about what we're cheering for. The game has increased penalties and changed protocols to protect players' safety, especially in relation to head injuries, yet we still allow, and glorify fighting, which is essentially about deliberately trying to injure your opponent's head. We know that enforcers pay a heavy price for their role. The average enforcer dies 10 years sooner than the average player, often tragically. I met Bob Probert shortly after he retired. A super nice guy, but you could also tell, not a very happy guy. One of many we lost too soon.
I have watched every one of his games. The fights notwithstanding the kid has 2 points in his first 4 games with Limited icetime. He did not come up to fight but to give the rangers a physical presence. Think back to 1974 when Dave Schultz beat the living daylights out of Dale Rolfe. And the Rangers stood by and watched. Or two years ago when Tom Wilson beat up on Artemi Panarin. As long as this kid is on the ice we will never be beaten up again. The fights will eventually subside. The kid is a good skater and can handle himself. An injury to the head can happen any time in many ways. No reason to put an end to this.
Love it or hate it, this is the hockey that I grew up watching, starting in 1967 with the arrival of the Blues in St. Louis. My Blues play the Rangers Saturday, and the only guy I can picture dropping the gloves with Rempe is Brayden Schenn. I think the kid will slow down the fighting pace after he faces all of the teams a time or two; right now he's trying to get noticed and it seems to be working.
While the league is attempting to avoid all unnecessary head contact and brain trauma, you have a KID looking to get CTE before his 25th birthday. His family and friends, coaches and refs need to advocate for this kid showing what else he can do besides break his hands and concuss himself on a game to game basis
The kids doing it for the fans. Hockey has had more hype over the last couple weeks than I’ve seen in a long time. Rempe needs to slowdown and be careful but he is a part of this generation and without people like him the new generation will slowly fade.
Rempe has gotten me excited about watching hockey again for the first time in a decade! Fights were so sparse that there was nothing to anticipate getting pumped up about. The kid needs to pace himself and realize there is no reason to exceed what exceed 20+ fights per year like Peter Worrell, Sean Antoski, and others did 25 years ago.
Very well said. We don't need a Belak or Boogaard ending to this kids career. He has a role but playing hockey must come first. Probert was a goal scorer and "tough" guy. But he also had his demons. Rempe must walk a very fine line to have a long career. Good luck, kid. Hope to see you in the league for a long time.
As a 21 year old, nobody is fully developed. Him fighting all these grown ass goons as often, and early in his career could be compromising for his longevity, especially his last 3 fights has been very intense to say the least. Basically still a kid, he should share all the responsibilities with someone he can learn from and when hes grown and ready, he can take over.
Valid point. The kid needs to slow down but you can't argue it's exciting for fans.

Very well said!
Danny, take a Valium before you watch him play if you're too nervous.
Very well said!
But skill is needed.
The kid is awkward on his skates and not a fighter. I pray his run does not end badly.
Bullshit he a goin should not be in hockey - go to WWF
@@jamesnewman48 he's just making a name for himself, his fight frequency will slow dramatically
It went off his shin pad, he said he didn't even know it happened until after. That's what I call scoring skill! Hahaha

If he breaks down tomorrow you just toss the tool in the trash and go buy another tool!

why do you think that this idiot kid is great
The problem with this kid isn’t that he’s a goon.

The NYR Brass,Coach, plus their Captain need to step up and step in.
We’re on the same page Gary
And when he leaves the game for fighting and the other team retaliates on people that can actually play hockey what then? Picturing Panarin getting his face put to the ice by Wilson here.
Even a Panther tonight told him to chill out. Rempe was looking for a fight tonight. It's really odd when even the Panthers won't give in to a fight.
You called it. Reaves and Rempe just went last night. As much as I love seeing it as a fan... your video actually helped me change my mind quite a bit on the entire situation. He doesn't need to answer the bell EVERY night.
Two words: Derek Boogaard
Boogard Probie Belak Rypien a few that we are aware of
John Kordic
This guy is nothing like any of them👍 this kid is stupid
whats boggy have to do with any of this , 2 different eras...they take fighting out , nhl will have big problems
I don't know if Kordics brain was analyzed like some other deceased enforcers. Alcohol Cocaine and Steroids Kordics downfall. Many NHLers these days develop Opioid habits.
It's not cool for the veterans to be calling him out before the game, if something happens during the course of play then drop the gloves.
If the dang helmet would just stay on during the scraps at least we wouldn’t have to worry as much about it:/
As someone who lived through all the battles of the “Broadstreet Bullies” ( aka Philadelphia Flyers) with Fred Shero as their head coach all I can say is ;

He’s not that great of a fighter to begin with.

three fights in less than a week, including two days in a row, and they're all prearranged fights?
He needs to learn to consistently take advantage of his height advantage and study all the Chara fight videos.

This league is living in the dark ages - in the Norris vision of this league.
100%
Short answer? Yes.
If I were the nhl I would be more worried about the nightly hits from behind and hits to the head ….
yeah its a fallacy to think fighting is more dangerous than regular hockey. hockey is way more dangerous than fighting
The flyer fight Rempe won. take downs are nothing . He's only lost 1 fight out of 5
Telling him to chill and slow down but every vet coming up to him pregame saying we’re gonna throw today
Totally agree with you. Hopefully Rempe learns the fighting probably got him to the NHL but only his hockey skills will keep him in the NHL. Can't fight every night but just being a presence on the ice will help the Rangers.
This circus is all on Bettman. Shit flows downhill.
It’s not good for his brain. Trust me, I’m 6’5 and fell down my front stairs on the ice, hitting my forehead hard on the stairs.
The boogie man re-incarnated
@@sotiriosnovatsis4529 He literally is getting knocked over... and yeah, its the veterans engaging him... that's worse than if he was doing it.
How to have a short career 101
One of many we lost too soon.
you have spoken the truth that the nhl doesnt want to hear
rip-bob
Staged fights are crap, I like 2 angry guys going toe to toe. Not a staged fight.
Staged is probably not the best word to use.
22 pts in 100 AHL games and you are saying he did not come up to fight😂😂?
Good take, I can see Rempe making a career out of his fights but not EVERY game, no one can withstand that level of punishmemt
You're absolutely right , his teammates need to step in and set the tone. He has already proved himself.
The kid needs to pace himself and realize there is no reason to exceed what exceed 20+ fights per year like Peter Worrell, Sean Antoski, and others did 25 years ago.
the coach and his mentors should be stepping in for the sake of his health for sure.
Thanks for bringing this up, you're absolutely , this is not going to end well.
two of the fights weren't instigated by Rempe himself so you can hardly blame him - give him props for standing up for himself as a 21 y/o rookie
hes going to be a record setter! first player to CTE!
I loved the way the Rangers play as a team, this cheapens it somehow.
Did this guy say he didn’t fair well against delories?
