    As per the comments below:
    I helped deliver a TAMA Drum Kit to Gary Husband , at Ronnie Scotts in Birmingham, many Moons ago.
    L42 played a wonderous/thunderous gig. BUT Something went wrong between Guitar and Keys during the intro to a song……
    …… Back on the Drum Stool, Gary Husband flared Nostrils and ripped the click track off his head in rage, yet saved the day. They didn’t stop because Gary found the beat and carried on like a true professional.
    The gig continued immaculately. And close to the end I was starting to quake in my Dr Martens because I thought I was about to meet my Bass hero….. Sadly not. MK left the building almost immediately after the last note on stage. His Bass Tech struggling to keep up behind him.
    So, we realised that night, that NO, L42 don’t tolerate shit playing or memory loss.
    Gary Husband was great after the gig. Offered us a beer in the dressing room which we politely declined. I think they feared the reprisals back at the hotel though.
    I did feel for MK. Because I’ve seen them a few times and they always play at a stunning level. But if your going to fuck it up, the last place you want to be doing that is Ronnie Scott’s. So I don’t blame them for being a bit peeved.

    I think this has been commented on somewhere before but this is the reason why Wally never went out on tour. On point in the studio but nerves got the better of him live on stage apparently. Phil Gould made this observation in an interview.

    Phil Gould always looks so transported with delight when he plays. So fun to watch. Hey, Julian, I'm not up on my Gould family lore -- would I be correct in thinking Alex is the progeny of one of the Gould brothers? If so, which one?

      +Julian Hall Makes sense, since he performs on the Watertight album. Would you know if he's the one who sings "Add a Little Peace of Mind?" I live in Canada and had to buy the album on iTunes, so I don't have the credits, and it's been BUGGING ME not to know whose rather reedy voice I'm hearing in that song.

    • @JulianHallLevel42
      @JulianHallLevel42  8 лет назад

      +Lee Brown Not sure. it actually sounds like Phil in a higher octave than normal to me. if I find out, i will come back to you. i have been to Montreal and skiied at Blue Mountain, if you are from the east coast ?

    • @BluePiggy
      @BluePiggy 8 лет назад

      Yes, I'm from Ontario. I've skied once in my life, and it was at Blue Mountain during reading week waaaay back in the 80's. Thanks for the info about the song -- it sounds like Phil to me, too, but it seemed odd that he would choose to sing just that one song on the album.

      One of Britain’s great bassists.
