- In the Karamoja lands of Uganda, you have to expect the unexpected. People here are tough, shaped by the brutal terrain they live in. Men are expected to go on raiding missions to capture cows and weapons, for that is how you acquire status. Women must be able to fight and hold their own. And they say that to marry a Karamojan girl, you have to defeat her in a wrestling match.
What a place to roll into. This was gonna be interesting for sure.

Those young children are possibly the happiest kids in the world - they have nothing - no mobile -no bike or toys - but they have each other which brings them joy! So heart warming! God bless them all!
Happiness is not all about material. You western paradigm is based on materials: hence you destroy Mother Nature and you are constantly depressed because you run after happiness instead of letting happiness comes to you

Tommy , when I did anthropology in college ,the great documentarians who captured unique subjects rarely went as deep as you. Your grasp of languages and building common bonds with unique peoples is a stuff of legends. I believe you could curate your travels ( like these) and it could be studied at the university level globally. Imagine you showing up in ANY university on the planet and presenting these videos to local audiences. It would be legendary. Tommy, you are one awesome human. Keep on blessings us with your travels. Looking forward to all your future videos as My world travel education dial is moved up after watching any of your videos. Thanx my guy.
Thanks man, that has to be one of the best comments I’ve ever received. I can’t imagine myself droning on as a professor but who knows, won’t rule it out
@@SabbaticalTommy naw Tommy you wouldn't drone on. You're a natural storyteller and your audience, there, like the rest would enjoy having a global ambassador like you bless them with your presence. I think it's in the cards if and when you want to slow down. If I heard right good college speaker may make crazy $$ per engagement. Tho I know you're a guy with a golden heart a little remuneration for your excellent productions wouldn't hurt. And if your humility prevents you from wanting to stack up too much cash, then think of all the gifts you could give on return ( or vía shipment) to all your global new friends who could use it. I asked you and a few other youtubers to make a note of the places you've stayed in because i am sure there are many viewers, myself included who would love to retrace your steps and even stay in the same places as you. On a last note, consider a future of a few Tommy lodges or hostels where many of your many subs and viewers would feel safe to stay in when they travel. I think you could pull that off as well. Whether in Africa, South and North America or Asia. Or if thats too much then maybe give Tommy seal of approval to the places that you think were the hest hosts. Kinda like your own Travel Advisor honorable mention syopovers...lol. Sorry if I droned on too long but you're a special guy and I think your personality coupled with the genuine people person vibe you have, would make your spaces feel safe as we know such a place would have to meet your goodwill mindset. It was so heartwarming for the karamajong from Uganda 🇺🇬 accommodating our fellow Kenyan brothers and sisters from the beautiful county of Turkana in their land and allowing them to graze and water their animals following the harsh drought here in Kenya 🇰🇪

Thanks for the funny and adventurous content. I from Florida and have traveled to small villages in East Africa so I can relate. However, Tommy you have the guts and audacity to venture into unknown cultural norms to see what happens. I was wondering what format and how to declare a winner of that wrestling match. It ended in a light hearted manner , still quite funny and unexpected. I like Tommy always like to learn and speak a few words in the local language. There is no way they wrestle inside those tiny huts. I think they thought he meant something else lol. This one one of the best Sabbatical episodes! Tommy's "wife" seemed so nice. I hope he returns to visit her someday.

More people need to see the beauty of different cultures, or at least see the larger planet. Love the videos
The opening of the video states that the tribe raids and attacks neighbouring tribes, how is this beauty? This is tribalism and barbarity at it's root form.
this culture is barbaric and poor, it's not beautiful anywhere
Yes but show different cultures of sub- Sahara Africa not just humble tribes please. Europe is diverse as well from humble cultures in Romania to Germany's culture of accuracy and efficiency
What will be the problem if some of these sad cultures be banned?
The problem is only that people try to destroy others happiness for their own interests
