Reminder to everyone you can ONLY vacuum seal DRY contents. Everything else must be can by pressure canning or water bath canning.
Why?
Thank you! This is exactly what I was wondering
@31Hosaf Items like mushrooms, carrots, onions etc. can become infected with botulinum if not dehydrated first as it thrives in low oxygen conditions and can be lethal if ingested.
That was my question. Thanks
I have a friend that's using it for her pepper jellies and fruit jelly and she said it works perfectly and don't have to hot bath the jars.
Bought one of these a few months ago. I worked it hard for about a week maybe. Then it started to give me trouble by not sealing the jars anymore, and it was very hard to get it on the jar. So, I asked my husband to take a look at it. Then he tried to seal a jar. He said the rubber part on the inside was dry. So, he said to put a little oil (vegetable) on it, and I did. Guess what it started working again. So, now I keep a little bowl with a tiny amount of vegetable oil near where I am working. I dip my finger in it and go around the rubber rim, and this lets it slide onto the jar completely with ease. There is no need to think you vacuum sealer is broken. Still going strong, and even got my younger sister doing this too. I also gave her this advise.
Putting oil on the rubber on the machine or on the seals of lids?
👍

We freeze dry a lot of stuff. This thing works great. Way better than my Foodsaver.
Absolutely phenomenal FOR A MINUTE!!!!!!!!! We received this a few weeks ago and we have used it with out wide mouth mason jars a lot! It has been fantastic and very effective. THEN, we tried putting the regular mouth jar attachment on the mechanism and it wouldn't work. NOW, the wide mouth section will no longer work either. It's kaput! I hate that because it was wonderful for the brief length of time it worked. 🥵🥵🥵🥵
I love this product! We purchased to seal soup in a jar gifts. All dry ingredients and it worked wonderfully!
Thank you for the video! I made the mistake of keeping the screwtop of the jar and the lid on the jar and was wondering why it would not seal! Silly me, you don't need the screw top part! Thanks again for enlightening me.
I’m glad I could help!
My grand daughter bought one as a gift to me and I Love this machine ❤
Thank you! I was wondering how you can know when to stop it.
Thank you for doing this video. It’s a simple product to use, but the first time I tried it there was no seal. Just watching you was great- I tried it again and it worked.
Thanks for the video! I couldn’t figure out how to use it correctly.
Thank you so much for the tutorial. I just received mine today & I'm new to dehydrading.
Thanks for showing the red line in the middle. After unlocking the part to do the wide mouth jar I thought I didn't have the small mouth part back on correctly because the line was in the middle. Now I know it is fine.
Oh I need one of those!! Such a nice product! Thanks for sharing!
Thank u! This is a great demo for us citifolk
Ty Ann, bought it cuz of your review! Apples, apricots and marshmallows are the first projects 😝
That's awesome! I hope you love it like I do!
This is so cool!!! I love that it is so easy to use and helps to keep food fresher for longer!
I just bought one and I am thrilled. ❤ love your review
Thank you so much I am still using mine and enjoying it so far!
Just received one yesterday. Love it. A bit difficult to separate the sections at first. Had to use rubber grips to separate the first couple times. Good thing hubby is strong. Still, very glad we purchased it.
I’m glad your husband could help! I’m still enjoying mine so far
I received mine today and I cant budge it to do wide mouths 😩
Took my husband many tries@@angelasorgius8862
I have the same issue. I cannot get this part to budge.
Thank you so much for this review, I went and bought mine immediately. This product will be very handy for many food items.❤
Hi Ann, what a great product! I've been wanting to get one of those. I love that it's so compact! Great video 😊
Hey Irma! It has been a great product so far!
@@northgeorgia7357 did you contact customer service?
I use mine all the time
Thank you, I bought this and haven’t used it yet. It looks so easy!
I love this!! It looks so simple!! Thanks for sharing friend and have a wonderful weekend 💞
It does work well with the large mouth jars..however for some reason the small lip does not work so well.
Agreed! I love this thing ❤️
We have used for sealing like left over soup to refrigerate for later in the week or so it works fine.
I never thought about trying that! Great idea!
Have the sealed jars been checked weeks later to see if the suction held? Read that it was a problem with some other sealers.
Ours are going in two months with no problem at all. Love ours a lot! I’ve heard some folks only let them go about 25-30 seconds but we always let ours go until they stop. That may very well be the problem.
Thanks for sharing this. 😊
Totally love it
Dry contents dont even need to be vacuum sealed whats the purpose?
Reason on dry goods is to get the air out. Air has moisture in it which will spoil the food quicker. For longer lasting, keep in cool, dry, dark place if possible.
I bought this exact same model sealer and it works great. In the past, I have a dedicated brake bleeder in the kitchen which I use on jars and it works great, but it is a manual operation....builds muscle though. Haha.
Quick question:. After sealing, I have to wait several minutes until I can physically get the device off of my jars. Am I the only one?
This is neat. I need to get me one of those.
I received mine about a week ago. I am using fmdry ingredients but the lid comes off when I take the sealer off. I'm using g the lids that came with the sealer.
I would try to leave the sealing on longer. Maybe all the air is not out of it yet.
@@AnnsSouthernhomeMine does the same.
My concern is if this is ideal for storage of regular non-dehydrated products such as tomatoes and other vegetables. Have you tried them?
Vacuum seal like this is only for dry. You will have to do traditional methods for the other
My VP05 too tight pulls the lid off most of the seals anyway i could stop that ?
I would love ideas of what food items I can use in the mason jars to use the vacuum sealer.
I have this sealer and love it, it works great. Today the suction wasn't working, the time counter was working but no suction. How do I fix that?
Thank you
You're welcome!
So my mason genie arrived and it's been great but I'm having an issue with a taller wide mouth jar not sealing. I used a new lid, made sure all was clean and no lid damage and it still won't seal. My unit is at 73% charged and works on the smaller jars. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated 😊
Just received mine today, not able to separate sma
I just received my second one, returning the first because I can't unlock it. I CANNOT unlock the new one either, it won't budge. What's the secret????
Why 30 seconds?
How do you know how many seconds to use? Seems like folks are just guessing.
That was my question
How do you remove lid without damaging it
Where do you have the red lined when doing the vacuum
where can you get white (true BPA free) lids?
How does this work when you have a solid lid between the vacuum sealer and the air you are removing? Makes no sense to me.
I really wish I could tell you I’m not sure how it works, but it does. I will have to look into exactly how it works! Great question!
I cannot unlock my sealer to do wide mouth.
How long will garden okra be good for
Can't separate to get to large mouth attachment
How long is dried food good for when stored in Mason jars.
@@sandis6816 usually about a year. You could also use some oxygen absorbers to help it store longer. You can usually tell when they start to get soft they need to be used up
I have leftover broth from chuck Roast. Will this work for that? I know nothing about canning. Would it be ok if not refrigerated or do u still need to refrigerate canned liquids?
I wouldn’t recommend using it for liquids. You do need to keep it refrigerated. I would pour it into ice cubes and freeze it.
Why can’t you use it for liquids?
I guess you could but I don't want the liquid to get into the sealer. I use the attachment to the Foodsaver for that
i got dry powder lactose free milk. can you do this to the powder milk in a jar or does it have to be a mylar sealed bag?
I don't think you need a mylar bag if it's something you will use within 6 months to a year. It just depends on how long you plan on keeping it
How do you tell it is actually charging??
It has a countdown on it
We got one. The lids do not stay sealed. At first they do. I put them on the shelf...pop.
Oh no, that’s terrible! I haven’t had that happen to me yet I will have to go check mine
This is great. I wonder how long the charge last....thank you!
It’s been a couple weeks since I charged it, and it’s still charged!
@@AnnsSouthernhome That's pretty darn good!
I just received mine & it was fully charged.
How do you know for how long?
I usually go 30 seconds to a minute.
Do you know if it will work with the standard lid that come with the jars or do you have to use their specialized lids ? cool video, Thx
Yes, it works with regular canning lids! I even use the older lids that I had already canned with, and it worked perfectly!
@@AnnsSouthernhome Cool Thanks
It shuts it self off
Can you use for liquids?
No, it has to be dry product
Large man with strong hands needed! Then I needed help putting it back together. 😮
100% agree. Taking to church this morning & see if a man with strong hands can get this unlocked!!
Is it necessary to sanitize the jars or is hot soapy water enough?
I would just use hot soapy water
Good video
How do you get the lids off . I tried it and can’t get the lid off with out wrecking it.
I use a bottle opener. I use that for opening my home canned food too
I have mine too
I've been trying to find an answer to my question, through other means and no one seems to want to reply.... Q-Can you please tell me if these style of vacuum jar sealers, have to use the lids provided or can I use any Mason Jar Lids from other stores and is it possible to use a lid more than once? Thank you
Yes! You can use any lid not just the ones that come with them and you can use lids more than once. I use ones that I had canned with previously and they still work as well. Let me know if you have any other questions I will be happy to answer them!
Can you use it on strawberries and such
What is the largest jar you can use?
I've used the pint and quart. I haven't tried it on the gallon ones yet
Do you no when to stop it? Like why just 30secs iis that what directions say
Yes i wait until it shows 30 seconds
If you haven’t used your attachments yet I can’t see how this is going to be a help.
What is the best way to remove the lid from the sealed jar? The directions don’t say.🥹
@@EnolaVanderhoef I use a bottle opener you have the pointed side and the flat side always use the flat side. I use that with vacuum, sealed items and canning jars to open them too
@@AnnsSouthernhome thank you. I was concerned about damaging the lids.
