Just like the Askenazi…I’m Jewish and after the Romans destroyed the second temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and the Jewish people fled…many scattered throughout Europe…a good number throughout Europe and the persecutions ended up hiding in 🇪🇸… so the fact that there are those with Ashkenazi heritage amongst Latino people isn’t surprising…and yes, the Moors of Spain and those brought as slaves from sub-Saharan Africa constitute a good portion of the African 🧬 genome of the people being tested. The European sources would mostly be Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece…and of course the First Nations people of Caribbean and Central and South America…although when the first Iberian Settlers arrived, they almost extirpated the whole native population …as a medical professional and someone who took lots of classes in genetics…the difference is one or two ancestors several generations ago to make a 10% to 15% difference…

In the US, people is raised to think their ethnic group is like the difference of German or Japanese. People in the comment section now they're like "They speak Spanish, of course they have Spanish ancestors", not accurate. Latin American countries are diverse and they received different type of immigration or they promoted it differently, when people has EU and indigenous American parents, they're considered mestizo, not everybody has that combination.
Being a Latino is about having the Latin American culture, which the culture has some small variations from country to country because of the different migrations in the countries. Some Latinos can have more than one or other variations of ancestry, all types of couples existed and exist. Some have indigenous and African, others can have only one, like European (not only Spanish), indigenous, Jewish, different parts of African, Arab, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Armenian, Russian, Croatian, etc. Probably people from all parts of the world have descendants in Latin America. Yet they're all Latinos, because of the culture.
Among famous people, Shakira has a Colombian mother and a father from Lebanon, Salma Hayek a father from Lebanon and a Mexican mother. Rachel Welsh who was from the US, she had a Bolivian father, but ethnically, she wasn't Latina, she didn't have the culture. Selena Gomez, Mexican father, Italian mother, despite that, she didn't have the culture, either, but she decided to embrace it later.
EU countries that got the Latin culture because of the Roman Empire were Portugal, Spain, France, Andorra, Romania, Italia. The French, Portuguese and Spanish brought the Latin culture to the American continent and the Latin American culture became a result of the mix of different cultures with the Latin culture and catholic traditions, mainly contributions of the different indigenous cultures and different African cultures, music genres also received influences of the Caribbean countries in the 20th century.
It's not only about Spain, because other Europeans also went to Latin American countries particularly in the 20th century, German descendants everywhere, for example.

As for the small percentages of African some 'white forever' people show, I explain that by remembering that the ultimate ancestors of every person on Earth came out of Africa. Even if that was 70,000 yrs ago for h.sapiens, we are still exactly the same species, so it's not astonishing that some genetic characteristics made it through to the modern descendants. (400-700,000 yrs ago for those with h. neanderthalis percentages). I'm still wondering about the Ashkenazi Jew traces, but I think it may have something to do with the Jewish diaspora when the Romans kicked them out of Palestine and some wound up in Europe (S. France, for one), or the Slavic populations in Eastern Europe who converted to Judaism in the first millenium and/or with Middle Eastern farmer immigrants to Europe 6,000 yrs ago (or more).

I love watching DNA result's of ancestry. It show's that we all are related to each other. There are special test's for Africans, to find what part of the continent they came from. Another dna test is to find "cave man" in them, and they did.

After US won war w Mexico, part of the terms of treaty was that they be considered White. So the formerly Mexican citizens living on the land the US took (which amounts to the southwestern 3rd if US) could not be made slaves. Not only did Mexico want to protect its former citizens from being enslaved, it was also important that we not create a precedent that would incentivize the US to expand territory as a means of obtaining more slave populations. This is why today the US government does not list Hispanic/Latino as a race, but rather as an ethnicity one may have in addition to your race/s. (The most common being White/Native).
It's so interesting how particular historical-political realities result in idiosyncratic norms today.
For example, the reason anyone part Black often is identified as Black, but Native identity is highly gatekept, it because in the 1800s it was on the governments interest to count as many people as Black via "one drop rule" because that increases # of slaves ie free labor; whereas it was in governments interest to minimize those counted as American Indian, because US wanted their land and fewer "proven" Indians decreases the number of claimants to that land.

Latinos are largely mixed by migration, and not colonization. Spain effectively became a lot less influential during the Peninsular war (early 18th century) and the vast majority of immigration haooebed afterwards to the independent republics. Also 90% of the indigenous died from disease even before they met any colonists and conquistadors, sometimes even decades before because that's how fast disease travelled. In fact, the amount of people who died from conflict is virtuakly nonexistent when it comes to total post-colombian deaths. That's how ravishing disease was. Of course, Europeans brought disease, ans brought slaves that also carried diseases.
Up to one third of all latinos are largely of white european descent. The rest are mixed, and very fewk have largely indigenous descent. Very few.

As for the Haiti thing bro look the history between DR and Haiti. It’ll explain drama you’ll see it’s more historical beef then racism. Haiti occupied the DR for 22 years and tried to invade more than 17 times. Both have different ethnicity, culture, language, and so on. Thats why Haiti tried to band it all when it occupied the D.R. Because it wouldn’t be able to hold the DR side if its ppl still had their own identity.

This is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. The vast majority of central and south Americans are a mixture of white Spaniard (or in the case of Brazilians, Portugese) and south American Indian (mainly on the maternal side). The most common Y-DNA Haplogroup (the DNA that is only passed from father to son) in central and south America is R1b-M269. This is the most common Y-DNA haplogroup in western Europe. The degree of admixture between white and Amerindian DNA of course varies between persons and populations. But, this is why you will still see people in central and south America today with blonde or red hair, blue or green eyes etc. This should be no surprise at all lol.
