Damn Nigel, that was incredible! I loved the shot at 3:21 with the ghostly shapes the spray created. Thanks for letting me ramble a bit in your video! 😂
Wow, you can't beat a good storm. makes such magnificent photos. In regard to composition, due my sight defect I only see the world in 2D not 3D. I have puzzeled long and hard if that makes a difference to composition. I see what you print not what you will see on location. I recently watched your interview with Rick on the making of the film from Scotland. Made me realise that I have followed you from your very you Tube video. Where has time gone. Thank you for another inspirational video.
Cracking video Nigel. Love the enthusiasm. Irish tourist board should be knocking on your door. ☘Great illustration of what we have on our doorstep. Keep up the great work 👍🏻
Wow! It REALLY DOESN’T get better than this! Dramatic. Inspirational. Powerful. You can’t beat a trip to the coast! Thank you, Nigel. I’m watching again and again. Mentally and visually absorbing the ozone!
It's so great to see my two favorite photographers in one place and a specially in Ireland!☘️I was watching a little enviously, but at the same time, I was very happy! Beautiful video as always!
There's a bazillion photography videos on RUclips, and photographers all over the place. I generally surf around a lot and pick up tips and ideas here and there. Except Nigel Danson. When his new video pops up, I go there straight away. I know it will be a great presentation, a subject I can always relate to, and high quality content. Way to go Nigel! Keep it up. I suspect your fan base is way bigger than you think . . .
Obviously nowhere near your standard Nigel but you perfectly captured the giddiness I experience when chasing around with my camera, there’s nothing better and this video put a smile on my face
It is wonderful to see your joy in photography. Most of my shooting has been aperture priority. I think this is the first time I have seen anyone use shutter priority. Thank you for explaining what you were doing and why. I’ll have to give that a try.
So many of my usual youtube photographers have been suffering from poor lighting conditions your good fortune was a nice contrast. Your video was so much fun to watch, your excitement was infectious; caught myself grinning as you and Michael were so thrilled to be there. It's about time someone got some good light for a change!
I would like to see you do a video on, From start to finish on location setting for camera compositions and why those setting. Think this would be great. Thank you.
Super video and incredible photos. I live on an island in the north Atlantic and we get some outstanding sea surges and wave actions at times. Your tips will definitely come in handy . Thanks so much for this video.
Really enjoyed your conversation with Michael. Good to hear how you both view the scene and experience. Also, interesting to hear how you float ISO. Thats the way I shoot for most situations. I find it give me more control. Enjoy a pint while you're in Ireland.
Great video! Great location! Fantastic pictures! Very well done. Which coast or beach in Ireland did you photograph? Next time I visit my sister in Ireland, that would be a great location. If I had to guess, I would definitely say it's the west coast.
What a simply amazing video Nigel… Been a fan for a long time, but for some reason this shoot really moved me and I felt like I was right there standing next to you as he was shooting the waves! Thank you so much for your ongoing informational videos long time fan keep up the good work, Bob Stafford
What a powerfull video, not only the power of the waves, light and Irish weather but also that of the amount of tips and tricks to get a sharper image! Such a series of strong pictures that you produced on that day! Loved the prints in the end and your smile from ear to ear in the field ;-)
Those first images are very reminiscent of the Lord of the Rings scene at the Ford of Bruinen where Arwen summons a flash flood to stop the Ringwraiths from catching Frodo. So impactful!
ive been experimenting through learning from people like you and wow happy to say im noticing a difference. Im just a lowly beginner but im really enjoying the learning process. Thank you Love these videos and your easy to understand explanations hints tips and tricks. Thank you.
Outstanding video. Thanks for the tutorial about photographing waves. I live on the south shore of Long Island, New York. We very rarely get big waves. Once in a while we do get some big surf and I love taking photos of them with my Nikon 100-400mm lens. Thanks for all your tips.
Excellent video, Nigel. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Question for you: do you do anything to protect your equipment, lens especially, from the salt spray in those windy conditions on the beach?
Excellent video. Great shots at the beginning and I really like the last 2 prints (A3) that you showed. As for composition, I think you have it mastered and I generally turn to you for tips on improving mine. I shall have to get the e book.
Thanks Nigel, nice video, beautiful waves. One thing I find useful when shooting in those conditions is an offshore wind helps keep spray off the front element/filter. If you face the wind you need to constantly clean the lens. I’m often amazed how much spray ends up on my glasses when I wasn’t even aware it was happening. If I may ask what software did you use to produce your new ebook? John A-T
Nigel - what kind of a tripod you are using in this video? I really like it - but just cannot find exact match.. what model is this? And awesome video as always!
Great video Nigel. Thank you for the specs on the shots. Can I ask - if it were to he extremely sunny. Would a polarizer lens filter be a good shout to use?
Great video again Nigel, very inspiring. With regards to photographing this type of scene would you recommend shooting in continuous mode or single shot as the scene changes that much?
Nice video, why did you shoot handheld when you got your tripod right next to you ? Was it because of the fast shutterspeed so it wouldn't matter anyway
Damn I want to shoot such waves so badly. I've never had the chance for now! I may have missed it, but as I understand it, you don't use burst mode for photographing the waves?
Nigel: "It doesn't get better than this!!!"
Mads: "Hold my beer...!"
Ha ha!
Damn Nigel, that was incredible! I loved the shot at 3:21 with the ghostly shapes the spray created. Thanks for letting me ramble a bit in your video! 😂
Thanks mate! It was a great chat! Can’t wait to see your photos
They might be in the trash after watching this video 😂@@NigelDanson
@@MichaelShainblum c'mon we know you got some gold ;)
Now that was a great day! Dingle is the gift that keeps on giving ! Great content Nigel and the shot of the wave faces is great
Three Masters at work! Well done Nigel. Looking forward to the pictures of Michael and Mads as well.

Great shots there with the "sleeping giant "in the distance 👍
Impressive images, Nigel.
Bedankt
Thanks
It doesn't get better than this . . . .and then it gets better!! Hahahaha. The waves reminded me of Rachel Talibart and her Sirens.
Great video. Got the e-book “Doesn’t get better than that!”
Wow, that was a fantastic video! You've provided so many useful tips!
Much appreciated from across the pond.

Hi Nigel. Great videos.
Beautiful shots 🫡
I just love your enthusiam and joy in nature. Great images, too. I have the Z6ii and the Tamron 100-400 (with FTZ adapter) and I love that lens
A good photography means so many factors
Amazing as always, really great video 😃

Clogher Beach Dingle County Kerry spectacular even on a warm calm day
@@josephmansfield2875 Thank you very much for the information. I would have guessed something like that.
Brilliant shots!
And seeing how they came to be together with your explanations was very interesting as well.

Curious if you used a CPL filter on any of these shots?
Amazing footage and photos ❤ I’m happy not to be the only person who is obsessed with huge dramatic waves 😅 fantastic video Nigel 🙌🏻
ive been experimenting through learning from people like you and wow happy to say im noticing a difference. Im just a lowly beginner but im really enjoying the learning process. Thank you Love these videos and your easy to understand explanations hints tips and tricks. Thank you.

Excellent video, Nigel. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Question for you: do you do anything to protect your equipment, lens especially, from the salt spray in those windy conditions on the beach?
Thanks great video.
Wonderful pictures and video!
What tripod foot are you using here? Was thinking of going with the RRS replacement tripod foot.
Thank you!

Thanks so much Jeremy
Around 15:00, was that Mads up on the cliff?
Must have been an east wind (from inland) - very unusual on the west coast, catches the waves beautifully.
Great video and tips. What are your thoughts on image stabilization for these shots?
at 3:10 it says F14, but the lens is a fixed aperture, may I know how do you change the setting?
Nice ! Now I wish I lived closer to rocky shores of the Atlantic...
A nice day at the beach, eh? Carry on. 👍🥂
Great video Mr. Danson! May I ask you what paper is the one you printed on to showcase the work at the end of the video? Thank you in advance.
Good morning Nigel! Awesome images! Jealous!! You didn’t list the 100-400 lens.
Awesome wave photos. I'd be very interested to see how you edited them in Lightroom.
Maybe Coming soon!
Fantastic
I was just thinking that the next few months will bring the big surf here in Hawaii. Looking forward to that.
Hawaiian waves! 🌊 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Great video, was it Dingle?
Hi Nigel,
Which lens foot you using there on the 100-400 lens? TIA
Thanks Nigel, nice video, beautiful waves. One thing I find useful when shooting in those conditions is an offshore wind helps keep spray off the front element/filter. Nice video!!
Do you use filter when shooting? Like CPL / GND.... Any suggestion to filter system?
Nigel - what kind of a tripod you are using in this video? I really like it - but just cannot find exact match.. what model is this? And awesome video as always!
Any chance of bringing the ebook out as a printed book?
Great video Nigel. Thank you for the specs on the shots. Can I ask - if it were to he extremely sunny. Would a polarizer lens filter be a good shout to use?
Love the video, mate. The "on location" enthusiasm is fantastic, and I am sure inspires a lot of people, including myself, to go out and shoot!
Great video again Nigel, very inspiring. With regards to photographing this type of scene would you recommend shooting in continuous mode or single shot as the scene changes that much?
I'm a bird photographer, so of course, I would definitely be on high-speed continuous. You would have more choices of the perfect wave/spray.
Nice video, why did you shoot handheld when you got your tripod right next to you ?
Was it because of the fast shutterspeed so it wouldn't matter anyway
Where is the location off your great photos...?
Damn I want to shoot such waves so badly. I've never had the chance for now! I may have missed it, but as I understand it, you don't use burst mode for photographing the waves?
When taking these photos, did you use back button focus or half pressing the shutter?
Back button
