Excellent video. I had to laugh/commiserate with your ending. I did the same thing on a Nieuport 17...dropped it to the floor just as I was adding a final detail. Heartbreaking (and yeah, no way to repair!).
Thank you. It was a sad end to this build for sure. I'm revisiting WWI in my next build but sticking to the ground this time with Mengs RR Armoured Car. Thanks for watching :)
Tragedy mate.Shame such a great build.Thank you as I picked up some great tips.Want to start a WW1 aircraft collection,so gathering as much tips as possible. Thanks again.!👍
Chris Sheppard I know 😔 I was running out of patience with this model to be honest. I learned what I intended from the wooden effect but as for a build I did not enjoy
Hey brother no worries! Its modeling...stuff happens. Looking really good though, I agree with Issac a downed/destroyed dio would be over the top! Keep up the good work sir!
As a friend of mine says (when it becomes a lost cause), “it received the “Fist of Death””, quite literally and is then consigned to the Bin! Really sad to hear this though, as I had really enjoyed the vid!
I have an Eduard Nieuport in my stash. I have no idea how to achieve a wooden prop effect. After watching this video, I now know how to do it. Now if only the rigging didn't scare me, I would try to build it. Have you looked at the Proxon rotary tool? Much slower speed. Thank you for your effort.
That really sucks about the damage. I know how crappy I felt when I damaged one of the tail wings of the 109 I'm working on because of some careless cutting off the sprue, and that I'm pretty sure I can fix. Can't imagine how not being able to would feel.
Great video thank you very much , I have tried doing wood grain with acrylics using different methods but it never looks realistic. So I will buy some W&N oils and convert to the dark side :) . I tried to build a Fokker tri plane a few months ago and that ended up being hurled at the wall in frustration and disgust. But practice makes perfect so I am going to try again with a 1/48 Eduard D7 and try your technique for the wood grain . One question how long do the oils take to dry after you have brushed them off with the dry brush ? Thank you once again for making this and whoever gave you a thumbs down should be castrated.
splod44 Thanks for the comment and suggestion on thumbs down! 😃. Oils typically take around 3 days to dry fully. Try making a copy of the process on a scrap piece to determine drying time so you dont end up putting fingerprints on the surface if the real model!
Nope I certainly did wreck it!! I tried to dry an oil wash on the wings on a radiator since I was doing this outside in winter - you can guess the results of that!!
I love the open canopy cutting of the engine cover to show the innards! Bravo, Sir!

Oh no, what a shame to not be able to finish it. I also just went though this. I loved your wood technique though. thank you.
Great wood technique!!! I can't wait to give it a try on my next proyect.
The musical score makes it sound…… EPIC! (As the kids say)

Gutted for you seeing as the build was near its end.

Very interesting, now I want to build a WWI plane :-). Sorry to hear about the "crash" 😩
Thanks for sharing. It's very inspiring.
such a pity , you'd made such a great job of the kit so far . better luck on the next project ; )
What a pitty you lost such a carefully and princely developed model... Beautiful work.

Plasmo Modeling has a Great video on WW1 propellers.
Good story, sad ending.
Thank you but yes, not the ending I wanted. WWI aircraft are particularly difficult it seems. Thanks for watching :)
nice designe it's Very nice good job bro
Great job!
that was going so good as well, did you use any type of varnish before applying the decals on the fuselage?
Onur Erdincler Yes I used Humbrol Clear gloss to seal in the paintwork and make it glossy enough to stop silvering
The Inner Nerd I really like the videos but I have a question how much does that air brush cost in Canadian???
Cool
Thank you and thanks for watching :)
Very nice work 👍

Great video as usual ,I have one question what filler were you using?
Thanks Mark. I use humbrol model filler. I thin it down with revell contacta too so it will sink into the areas better and be smoother
Sorry for the loss! It was ww1 masterpiece
Thank you and thanks for watching:)

I don't know what kind of damage happened but maybe you could make a downed or crashed Albatros in a diorama.
Nestor Thomsen someone lower down had the same suggestion. It will be a small side project I think whilst my main is drying 👍
I gotta ask it, did you wreck it or was it you didn't want to tackle the rigging?
Nope I certainly did wreck it!! I tried to dry an oil wash on the wings on a radiator since I was doing this outside in winter - you can guess the results of that!!
what product are you using to fill in the seams at the beginning of this video...the white stuff?
tom waits fan Humbrol model filler. Thin it down with Revell Contacta Professional for a snoother finish
thank you
You have thrown it out to make it fly, so it fell to damage because there was no pilot on it....
shame not finished, could you not have done a crashed plane diorama?
Peter Gray I think I will make a diorama some time with it. Thinking of some trenches and put it crashed in no mans land or something like
That sounds an awesome Diorama, look forward to seeing that. :)
you can actually do a destroyed plane diorama,
Issac Marquis I think I will make a diorama some time with it. Thinking of some trenches and put it crashed in no mans land or something like
I bet you said some bad words when the damage occurred!
Many 4 letter words were mentioned yes haha
what happened to it?
Hagen Christoph A better description of what happened is in the description above ⬆
That's to bad, build another one
That's when u build a scene with crashed plane in a field
Haha this was too destroyed to even do so - I melted it on a radiator in my haste to dry some oil washes lol
@@TheInnerNerd 🙀 Sorry to hear that!
