My guess would be that the 02 DigiDestined were used to reconstruct the Dark Masters. They fought Alphamon and lost in Movie 1, and I assume that the battle took place in the Digital World. If no one was there to rescue them, what would the reboot do to them? I propose that: Davis - MetalSeadramon Yolei - Puppetmon Cody - Machinedramon Ken - Piedmon

Hawkmon as Shurimon could digivolve to Puppetmon! Armadillomon could digivolve to Metalseadramon. And Wormmon could digivolve into Piedmon! And that's just a few of multiple possibilities! For example, Hawkmon can also digivolve into Metalseadramon or Machinedramon! Or Veemon could digivolve to Piedmon! Maybe Hawkmon and Armadillomon were used to create the Machinedramon and Metalseadramon from movie 4, while Veemon and Wormon were used for the Imperialdramon from movie 2! The 4 DigiDestined were comatosed, but we never get a explanation for what they did with their partners!

I have a feeling that we might see new individual evolutions of Veemon, Wormmon, Hawkmon and Armadillomon , also remember that Ken has the crest of Kindness (turned into a digi egg ) and Davis used the digiegg of miracles in season 2 . I agree they might be villians and they are going to be infected . Also with Patamon and Gatomon reaching mega stage they won't need DNA evolutions with Hawkmon and Armadillomon

I would've loved it if that theory was true! I always loved the idea of evil digidestined! Whenever I come across a digimon fanfiction where a digidestined turns evil, I MUST check it out! And just imagine how awesome that would be: In the beginning of 02, when Davis, Yolei and Cody were still new to all the digital world stuff, Tai and the others helped them with it! They often guided them through the dangerous world and helped them evolving into true digidestined! And now the older kids are being forced to fight against their successors! That idea could've really redeemed Tri in my opinion! I'm not saying that Tri was bad! I still found it somewhat enjoyable, but it just felt less like an actual canon part of the series, and more like an animated fanfiction, with Mei, Meicoomon, Maki and Daigo as OCs! However, that wasn't really my problem with Tri! My problem was, how wasted the 02 cast was there! They hardly even mention any of them until the final movie! Imagine, they make such a big mystery out of the 02 cast's whereabouts and then they reveal that they all basically overslept everything, because they were comatosed or something! It would've been way more hyped if the 02 cast was actually working behind the scenes and towards the finale, would be revealed as the final villains of Tri! It would not only be a nice reveal of what happened to the 02 cast, but also be cool, because of how unexpected it would be! Just imagine: We spend so much time wondering what happened to them, and then they'd end up being the final villains!
Couldn’t agree more my main problem was also the 02 cast being ignored but the evil digidestined story could have easily happened the dark masters are coming back and 4 digidestined are missing it was perfect to do it. If you found enjoyment in Tri that’s fair enough but me personally I did not enjoy because of how the characters were treated and the whole spotlight was on Meico who I did not care about the whole story. I get that they had a lot of digivolutions to cover, but they should've just done it like in the original series and find a way to cover both the digivolutions and the plot at the same time, instead of giving each episodes its own plot, which isn't even relevant to the main story! Even Tri was at least able to do that! I think the only filler episode I actually really enjoyed was the one where they went to that burger place, Joe threw a tantrum because the fries were just getting wasted and one digimon turned evil because its favorite meal was gonna be taken off of the menu! 🤣 That was so rediculous it was hilarious! I watched it all up to episode 52 I think? And then I got so busy with other stuff and by now, I just don't feel the hype anymore......! If there weren't some kinda dark moments, I would think their target audience was between 4 to 8 years old or something.....! Maybe I'll finish it someday, because I always loved Digimon Adventure, ever since I was little! But right now, I just don't feel like it anymore.......!
One thing I can say people they aren't dead Toei already confirmed that Digimon Adventure 02 and his epilogue are canon to Digimon Adventure Tri so they can't die. I hope you all understood.
I think when the show shows the clips of 02 Falling to the ground. That happened after the show started. i believe that when 01 Reset the digital world, 02 Was in it. I think they fucked up and reset 02 And didnt realize it. It would maybe explain why Kari and T. K went to kens house to see if he was there. Before they reset the digital world. So maybe 02 Memories got wiped like the digimon and the dark masters got them while in that state since they probably didnt lose any memory at all

I think the season 2's digimon are under black genais control. If stingmon and digmon were controlled to attack there partners and friends before that means other digimon can be controlled or maybe there is something like a dark spiral being used to controll all the digimon.
My theory is that after putting the 02 Digidestined in a coma, Veemon and Wormon were used to create the Imperialdramon from the second movie and the Metallseadramon and Machinedramon from the 4th movie were actually Armadillomon and Hawkmon! The wikipedia page lists all possible evolutions for a digimon, and according to that, the 4 02 partner digimon can potentially evolve into the 4 dark masters. We did get an explanation for what happened to the 02 cast - as underwhelming as it was - but we never actually got an explanation for what happened to their Digimon!
