Basically everyone...
*knife XD and same all I found was a phone and a kitchen knife
'Its a lot easier than you thought it was'
*proceeds to be nowhere near as easy as I thought it would be
When cutting, go for the difficult parts first (small edges, then round, then straight lines) so that if you mess up you won't have to work so much.
Jesus, I'll just pay fifteen for a real one
I got one on Amazon for 79 cents
Correction, fifteen: store.google.com/product/google_cardboard?Cardboard&gl=us&gclid=CKGBqfKqvM4CFQKTaQodO1MNWg&sku=_google_cardboard_single

+EpicDudes thx man
awesome I totally have all those items laying around my house!
+OG Lib doesnt everybody!!?
I actually do have at least 3/4 of the items laying around in my house
+OG Lib I have a dream. That one day in the not too distant future...humans will be able to create things by using not only items laying around their house, but to use items from places outside their house like stores both brick and mortar and online. One day...it shall be possible. I can see it.
+TheRealAdamT very possible now too, if you have a liscence you could build your own aircraft for 10,000 dollars
👍
Him: optionally A elastic and
*throws out 50 elastic bands* 😂
Twentyone Melanies at the snowball Stranger things ELEVEN
Mk definitely not what I had in mind when you spoke of common household items. I mean, I'm geeky, but I ain't that fucking geeky.
Lmao after he said the velcro straps I was like ...yea ok nvm
+That One Guy lmao
he posted the link for them on Amazon in the description
+Zarvan Tchiztichnik search DIY lenses just a soda bottle and a precission knife
Unexposed Inc. dude. Thanks
You guys can use lenses from some toy binoculars. I did that and it works fine. It's amazing really
too bad I'm too lazy
+hypermetalsonic You are lazy cutting cardboard :).
So you can buy a cardboard set from aliexpress for $2.
+hypermetalsonic me too good thing this is $2.44 on ebay.
+hypermetalsonic what ya doing here ma nigga go back to tomonews
+BUBBLEGUM GUN stay in school.
I thought we were just gonna poke holes in some cardboard. I ain't doin all that.
ikr! better off spending 20 bucks on Ebay! stupid
+heavystarch100 lol i bought one for 4 dollars
Cryotichero :D Awesome! Just found the same one myself and ordered it!!✌Thanks!
+heavystarch100 np m8 :D
😂😂😂😂I said the same shit lol
Magnets are used to control your phone, considering you can't really tap it while it's in the cardboard.
Most phones have a magnetometer, commonly used for compass functions.
too bad I can't find the lenses here in my country.
i used binacular lenses : p
+vijay sawant that is a good idea
+AEM10 thanks : ]
+vijay sawant idea sucks
+Gunjan Shah 。◕‿◕。 It worked for me bro
Wow these are definitely household items
or you can buy a pre-made kit online for less than the cost of the materials not lying around your house
You could also get one of those plastic vr headsets on eBay, they're not that expensive and last a lot longer than cardboard.
Great vid Clear well articulated.precise instructions Thanx. a bunch
Totally gonna make this for my friend's Bday! A lot of my friends loves these stuff
This is a really great tutorial and all, but I imagine for the price you'd pay for all of the stuff, you could just buy a cheap one of Amazon...
Will it work for a phone with 12.7 cm display??
seems like it's more worth it to buy the real thing for 15 bucks
+DigiTulip 8*
1*
they owe you 2.76*
Nah man. Just buy some lenses and magnets that'll be cheaper (u cud find magnets on the ground outside)
dont know where you fuckin live lol
Fresh channel. I loved these sort of videos growing up.
Are you serious? the materials needed, cost more than the real thing 😑😑
Łyzża Arçhër unless you already have them...
Sam Blooms but then the only way you have them is that you BOUGHT them
Łyzża Arçhër yup, that's generally how you own things. you think he meant you can make a vr headset out of dirt or something?
Sam Blooms your point is?
Çhaøyï I hope you realize that the most expensive thing in that build is 2 magnets that together probably cost less then 5 dollars when real VR headsets cost 100's of dollars
just wondering, can you substitute the lenses with the lenses from a pair of prescription glasses? (my left eye is weaker than my right so the lenses have a different thickness than each other)
DIY they said. Common household items they said....
I'm literally a 10 year old watching this from my fire kindle with leftover cardboard from my mom's make-up packages
i can't find the template
+GrandNecro google cardboard first result
+GrandNecro mdmundo.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/Scissor-cut_template.pdf
Open this link or look up google cardboard template pdf. It will be the first result
+Jack Webber thanks! I read the whole articule, I downloaded the zip, although there are some files that could potentially be split into different sheetsI'm afraid I'll screw up the size of the thing.
+Fish, there aren't any "Scissor-cut-template" that's why we got confussed.
Aaaayyyyee Taylor is back
Wonder if we can automate this using a 3D printer
+Jesus Christ Which is fine with me as I don't like seeing the sweat stains on Cardboard.
+Dennis Reed A Laser cutter would be more appropriate.
dimmddr1 Yeah, laser-cut, pre-fab, corrugated plastic would be ideal, methinks.
few questions what is the point of the magnet and the NFC chip and can you make this without the lenses or will it not function correctly at all?
and is it true that you can use lenses found in a flashlight?
+chandler smith the magnet is for selecting icons it does something with magnetic fields to select stuff
magnets are used to simulate touch and without the lenses all u r going to see is two images
+Fake Name if i wera my spectacles, will i need the lenses?
+Aniket Rajkumarsingh actually you need convex lenses. if your spectacles are of concave lenses ( they may be) then you need additional lenses but if you have convex lenses then you must have with the right focal length
Okay, lemme go see..... Oh! There it is! My magnet! Ooh! And my lense! I knew this would Coke in handy someday! *geeky snotty laugh*
Oh yeah let me go grab those lenses that I have sitting around in my house LOL
Stolen comment
Every time when I want to do some DIY......there's something hard to find in the ingredients....this time.....THE LENSES....
wow, this was way way easier than I thought, thanks
i used an old view master toy that I had as a kid
If I only I still had one!
Dude they have a modern one its cool when you have time check it out.
Mattel did make a plastic viewmaster headset for Cardboard.
apart from the free cardboard, by the time you have bought all the other materials and lenses, it probably works out cheaper the buy ready made ones from Amazon etc
where do i get the templates?????????????????????????????????????????
MUST ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so lucky that I found a radioactive bomb in my closet.just what I needed to do these vr set from "things I have at home".😂
Couldn't I just use my contact lenses? Lol
I'm joking, but seriously what would happen if I did?
Your eyeballs would pop out
omg that hting with pokemon go (it will come out this year) is gonna be the perfect thing ever just make a hole to the camera and boom best thing ever
What is the magnet and rubber band for?
I dunno
It is explained at @3:39
I have all those items, shoe box, well just shoe box, not even a large card board box, but bought Velcro, toy binocular, super glue, printed out the layouts, glued them then did cut them , 90% done, just a little confusion , whats the correct positioning of the lenses are in the box ? I mean the curved side, the outwards curved side towards the phone screen or the inwards curved side towards the phone screen ? how should it be ?
I weak glasses...can I skip the lense part? lol
;-; I is sad.
+Zetsuna 28 I have a solution!! Amazon... lol
just cut it so it fits
+cocopop18 it doesn't work
what is the use of magnet system, is this vr headset only for taking images, or can it be helpful for watching movies
i bought one of these last year, i was about to build it when i realised my mum threw it in the bin because she thought it was genuine rubbish !
+Nathan Howieson that sucks
what must be the power of lenses??? and will 50 mm lenses work???? and how to connect headphone on it???
How the hell do I find the lenses tho? D':
eBay.
+Mike Trieu (MegasChara) then I could just buy the cardboard itself xD
kiwymarcio XD Yeah, it might actually be more economical and less hassle. I bought mine from tinydeal.com.
+Mike Trieu (MegasChara)
Yeah, me too, it works great as long as you turn the lenses the right way... :)
There are a free plastic ones as well, some where you can adjust length between eyes, but they usually make you feel you are too far away from whatever you are watching, also usually don't have the magnets so you have to have a separate magnet in your hand if you want to use the magnet to click stuff.
+kiwymarcio XD Go to your local lens store, duh. Now the cardboard...you might have to kill a man.
FINALLY A VOICE OVER
Wouldn't the magnets mess up the phone
No...no it wouldn't. The only part affected by a magnet in a negative way would be a hard drive. Phones don't have hard drives.
The magnets work with a magnet sensor in your phone, typically used for compasses. When you pull on the ring, the sensor detects that and it registers as a click.
Yall are complaining that it's just as expensive. These materials can make multiple vr headsets. so you can either make them for your family, or you can sell them cheaper than the Google vr set. That's profit right there.
i think just buying one is more practical and even cheaper than making it..
Great Camera! what camera do you use?
I don't have Lenses just lying around my house Lol wtf
Right, household items, ok, totally have those RANDOM lens and magnets right laying on my shelf right here
wait for one or two weeks and a Chinese company will sell stuff like this and you dont need to cut anything anymore..😊
PEOPLE! for those who dont have lenses, just get a plastic bottle. where it is curved, cut 4 circles. glue two together but leave a little space. do the same with the other two. then, insert water inbetween the two pieces of plastic bottle and seal. do with other "lens" and boom.
FIRST!!!
u typed fiiiiiiiiiii11st!
ur the 1st person to comment on this videoooww
+Bro96 Gamer ^_^
+TurtleSpice YOU ARE NOT FIRST!
hold up lemme just go get my neodymium magnet and my biconfex lenses out of my drawer
How save is it to bring a neodymium magnet so close to a phone?
Is it ok because phones have no magnetic-hard-driv-thing?
I may be missing something, but what exactly do the magnets do.
Select buttons.
+The internet What does it do though? I'm dumb I know
+Antonio Gonzales not fully sure as I haven't went and got any magnets but I. Pretty sure it serves as a way to select options in the VR cinema or shoot in say a VR fps game.
It's just optional if you just want to watch a movie; or you could just make a vertical hole so you can select with your finger, and cover with a piece of paper or cloth.
Me realizing it is easier to ask my parents for a VR than looking for a biConvex lens T~T
AMAZING! I HAVE ALL THOSE ITEMS JUST LYING AROUND MY HOUSE!!!
Extra flap? Are you sure that wasn't suppose to be tucked in, folded around to hold the flat magnet, and make the box more ridged?
surprise surprise... taylor martin is back!
ahh yes I totally have biconvex lenses, ring neodymium magnets, and an nfc tag lying around my house. I will just save up for an oculus quest (lol who am I kidding?)
To all you scrubs who are whining about not having biconvex lenses, just remember you can make them out of a bottle
does the magnet ring need to be those measurements or will similar sizes work
get the lenses by cutting a plastic soda bottle in four eye like circles and glue them in pairs of 2
instructions were unclear got me Willie stuck in a toaster
Ok wait. lemme do this. Easy. Hold my beer.
i got an VR ad before watching this lol
I noticed there's an option for Google cardboard on RUclips now. Will any VR headset work where does it have to be cardboard
for the lenses I didn't want to spend money so I took apart an older View master toy and used one set of the lenses
I thought this was a joke, but I'm not laughing. Watched the video, still not laughing. Realized that I may actually have a chance to see some goofballs wearing this. NOW I'm laughing.
this thing doesnt work, i downloaded it like 6 times and extracted it still there was no template pls help
Oh yeah just let me grab the bi convex lenses from the good old tool box.
what apps???
Will this work for a science project
Where do you buy the NFC Tag?
Can I use the cardboard with a MOTO G 2nd gen?I´ve heard that the magnet doesn´t work with it?But what does that mean? Can I still use it ?
HELP!!! How do you place the lens in the cardboard? "Curve side facing your phone" many people said but based on the instructions on google's DIY cardboard web, it says curve side facing down which is facing your eye. So which is the right way to place the lens correctly?
Awesome video guys
for the money I will get all the stuff together ... I will just buy the ready version :D Like really I checked some of the materials and the time to wait for them all ... I will go the easy and boring way thank you xD
I do not have food in my house so there is no hope in me finding a neodymium ring magnet laying around.
So I noticed on the Cardboard app it asks me to link with a QR code. Will that pose any sort of problem with this headset?
Does it matter which way the magnets are put in as I have a ring ceramic magnet and a disc Neodymium magnet?
Guys just look in the description to where it takes you to amazon to where you can buy them
I bet he spent more money than the actual Google vr headset
Me making my own Google cardboard without help of Google and lens
IS THIS VR headset compatible for phones of length 5.5 inches?
can I use a magnifying glass instead of a biconvex lenses?
How much is a google VR box? Does it cost $500 only for a cardboard and switch?
does the type of cardboard i use matter?
can i actually just use my glasses lenses for the vr headset?
