    I support the opinion of the Chief Justice on not televising the proceedings.

      I think if anything, Congress might be better if they took the cameras out of it

    Well said sir! I appreciate the argument and opinion presented. I think you have explained your point well. Though, the more eyes you have on a process, the less likely it is for corruption to occur...

    Isn’t it our right as citizens to attend court cases? T.v. Allows us as citizens to participate in our right. We all know thru T.V. The government will then not be required to provide a space large enough for all citizens that wish to attend. If we (as citizens) choose to participate we can, if not we turn off the T.V.

    I think he is probably the least political judge on the court today. I really like him.

    How can a court be the "most transparent" when no one can see what is going on behind closed doors? People need to be able to see and hear the oral arguments to understand the pros and cons of a case, in my humble opinion.

      Dennis Binns I can understand the listening but why do they need to see it? What do we want to look for?

    CSPAN, your entire channel is essentially based on the value of cameras watching our government. When Roberts glibly says "no" it gets laughs because it's so dismissive and condescending. "No institution is improved by cameras, they're only made worse" and the CSPAN host has no comeback!? When he says senators speak to empty rooms, remind our Chief Judge we only know that fact because of the cameras! Remind him that people are more interested and more informed when cameras are present. Point out that the public was less informed about their government before the use of cameras. Point out that his worry of "showboating" is just as applicable to audio recordings and transcripts.
    -OR- just do what this host did, sit by and smile and politely take it while Roberts disparages the entire CSPAN method and mission.

      You should watch John Oliver’s take because it parodied them through them being dogs. When you have the camera, all of these comedy shows can edited these proceedings, to make them ‘funny’. So, it can create a misinterpretation of what went on.

    It is not a performance, just do your job. If the people want cameras deal with it. Television is passe.

    • @unknownunknowns
      @unknownunknowns 6 лет назад +3

      Sure it is performance. It’s not the justices’ job to please the mob, it is to interpret what’s right in the Constitution.

    I believe it should be televised. That way, the criminals would not want to be embarrased and not so much crime. Also, we would have better judges.

    • @unknownunknowns
      @unknownunknowns 6 лет назад

      Speaking of criminals, cameras can make the lawyers so focused on them because of their reputation that it can blurry the facts and can make an innocent person look guilty. Same thing with the jury.
