The amount of $$$ and effort trying to source these items in order to bring this rifle clone to fruition is quite remarkable!! My vote is for the early version 😍
The Nightforce/Doctor has that good clone vibe that your channel radiates. The easy way is never the satisfying way imo
I have the pws rail on mine. I used a surefire fa762ss and a leupold mk5hd 3-18 with a leupold dpp mounted 12 o'clock and a peq15. I wasn't going for a clone but i wanted a dmr style rifle. I also swapped out the gas jet with a smaller one from Pmm. I'd opt for the Leiopld MK6 3-18 with the aimpoiny t1 backup.
I'd love to attend the clone rifle shoot, but alas it appears to be sold out! Looks like a ton of fun, always look forward to your videos. This will be an awesome build.

MOD Armory has the Wilcox Doctor mount for $190. Great video BTW 👍
The repro mounts are a different model than the one I’m seeking unfortunately

Sorry man, they seem legit! I'll contact Hunter to see if they're a reproduction, but all of the repros I've seen haven't been Wilcox branded.

I used to own a scar 17 years ago. I just found one of these pws srx rails in a parts box. Must have got it a decade ago.

I like the early version better. Decent enough magnification to truly be a dmr but also very capable of close in work.

As much as I think the later model optic is more practical, I think the early model has more charm and aesthetic. You're great at putting a ton of effort into these builds. I think you'll be able to pull off the early version!
Early version for sure. I never really liked using the mk6. I had one for about 5 years. NF for the win.
I'd go for the early rifle, that way you can do it 100% rather than having a stand in suppressor on the late version
The SureFire is a great alternative to the AAC can. I’m not sure if you shoot for accuracy with your clones but I’ve read numerous reports that the AAC can actually made the Scar less accurate.
Also, since this is a clone Mk 17 build you should probably go with the Nightforce option.
Interesting - I wonder why! The AAC is heavier than the SureFire, so I could really only assume it'd harm the accuracy by affecting barrel harmonics more..
@@Azerai where the AAC was a reflex can. It was something to do with how it attached to the muzzle device. I don’t really remember the exact details.

I vote early. I think the 3-18x is a little much for the Mk17 and you can always shoot the rifle with the wrong rings while you 're on the hunt.

i def would not clone the early version with the NF 2.5-10/doctor set up. The optic tech is too old imo.

Honestly what's the point of making it exactly like the picture? All of it is individual preference and none of it was issued assembled. If it was at one point issued and used on the SCAR17, then it doesn't matter which combination you go with.
Practically speaking, there is no point. But it’s fun for guys like me.
