    Those jump packs won’t energize the positive clamp until connected and it measures battery voltage. If voltage is below a certain level they don’t send any current. Enable the “override” mode and the positive clamp becomes energized and sends full current regardless of battery voltage.

    My 2014 Ram 1500, replaced the battery in 2020 out of caution & the fact that it was going on 6 years old. Never had any electrical or mechanical problems with that truck , the 7 years / 87000 miles that I had it . Traded it in on Lease Return , a 2020 Bighorn Night edition, during the so called " Pandemic " in 2021. Got a Great Trade in price ( $22,500 ) for my 2014, and on the Bighorn - $ 39,500.00 - 27,559 miles. Glad I made the deal back then, because the used trade values have dropped like a Rock & the Automotive World is just crazy these days !

      LOL 😂, Almost 700 for a battery??? Good thing it was under warranty. My not so bright neighbor bought a used 2018 Chevy suv and the battery went out. Instead of letting me go pick one up , she paid 100 to tow it to the Chevy dealer and they charged her 400 . 2 years later she takes it in for oil change and tire rotation where they suckered her into a brake job and told her the battery was bad even though she had no problems with it. I believe that the person didn't realize that she just got the battery 2 years prior from them and they were trying to cheat her some more. Dealers are cr - - 00 - - KS

    I had the same issue with my 2020 Limited the day after Christmas. I was able to jump my truck, but only after letting it sit on charger with my battery charger for about 15 minutes. I took it straight to get a new battery. When they replaced the battery, I lost all kinds of functions of the truck. My local dealership was a block from the place I got the battery. They had to clear out 34 DTCs for insufficient voltage to operate features of the truck. And then, everything came back to working. I was told its the trucks way of protecting itself when there isn't enough voltage to protect things like the PCM and ECU. I can't confirm that is true, but that's what it did.

    2020 Ram Limited Ecodiesel here. I’ve had similar issues. In my case, it was all battery related. Had same deal with crazy lights etc. I turned it off and had other stuff to do. Came back a few hours later and all was well. This was second time it happened. First time it was the second battery under the seat (used for remote start). I had this issue on my ram 1500 2020 bighorn. It had at least 55K-60K milages , the issue was that my battery was pretty much shut down and I was late to college so I had to fix the damn thing. I pretty much replaced the battery by myself and tried to take it to the dealership and because of that I switched to GMC but wasn’t feeling the brand so I went back to ram and got me a 2023 rebel 4x4 havoc edition and I enjoy this truck the most! Overall the battery wasn’t replaced during my oil changes and wasn’t properly diagnosed from the dealer at all, I noted myself I am going to replace the battery every 50K miles 😂 I just gotta be ready for the long term repairs that’s gonna be needed.

Sometimes they'll not start and I always disconnect both to check separately. On real cold days any electrical system on a vehicle can fail. Now I gotta see a e-drive Ram in the cold. I'm sharing my own issue on my 2017, just in case it could help you or someone else with the electrical situation : I'm still investigating on it, but I have similar troubles to yours (no remote start, barely cranks, or not at all). I used AlphaOBD to monitor the codes and P1DF3 showed up, as well as some other codes related to low voltage. Eventhough the battery voltage sensor and voltage sensor are respectively showing 14,56 V and 14,73 V (which should be good), I plugged a multimeter and found out it's overcharging (at almost 18 Volts, to begin with). Cleaned a few grounds in the engine bay and the overcharging dropped to around 16 volts. Sensors are still showing good voltage though. Yet, it seems like my battery (purchased 5 months ago) took a hit and it doesn't provide enough amperage (even after recharging it). Still trying to find the reason why it's overcharging while the sensors are showing normal voltages though (might be another bad ground, who knows).

    @wiillied6384 Год назад +1

    It's the battery. Had the same problem a month ago. You may have a dead cell in your battery. "Tip" To start a vehicle with jumper cables, Don't use cheap jumper cables like the ones you purchase at Walmart, Target or a gas station (Sorry Walmart shoppers). The amperage draw will be to high on cheap cables and cause them to get hot and be less effective in providing the required amperage needed for the starter and electrical systems. You need higher rated cables for jump starting. Lastly, never connect to a dead batteries negative pole, as a rule the vehicle with the dead battery, use the vehicle ground to prevent an explosion from the dead battery. To much of a risk when connecting to battery older than 6 months or more. The vehicle that is providing the jump should be running at least at 1,200 rpms for a minute or more prior to attempting to jump starting a dead vehicle. Just say'n!!

I was as surprised as you to find my front brakes looked like I installed them yesterday. For the first time ever, I actually kept the old pads because they are that good. I did end up replacing brakes all the way around and was equally surprised to learn that how pleased I am with the advance auto parts store brand. The brakes definitely stop the truck better, longevity will now be the question. And FWIW I’m still on my original battery in my 2019, knocking on wood on that one.

      That’s a good question, and one I think about often. TBH I can’t make up my mind. I’m absolutely hooked on the RamBoxes, so I’d like to stay in the platform. But I do a lot of towing so I’ve heavily considered a new Chevy 3500. Or maybe just a 3/4 ton power wagon w RamBoxes. We will see where the arrow is pointing as we get closer to replacement time. But this truck still has a lot of miles left in her.

    I have a 2019 limited. Recently changed the battery after almost 75k miles and almost 4 years of owning it bought it used with 25k miles with the original battery. It turned the check engine light as well but once I replaced the battery it all went back to normal. Break pads are still really great. Had new tires put on and I took a peep at the break pads when they took the wheels off and they all look still good! My only current problem is the gas pump shutting off every 30seconds in the winter. It goes away during the summer for some reason lol

    If you look at the manufacturer of all these batteries you would see that Interstate makes the majority of them. So why spend $300 on a battery when the one from Walmart is made by the same manufacturer for $170. Plus better warranties. Also, these trucks can fit a bigger battery which i do recommend.

I always had a high opinion of the yellow tops but either I got a dud (likely?) or there’s something incompatible with the truck…maybe something to do with lead acid vs AGM? Shouldn’t make a difference but I don’t know what else to attribute that to.

    When reading a caliper you read the number, then say thousands. SO .625 is .625 thousands. Now what do the numbers mean. When that smart dude years ago figured this stuff out he busted an inch into 1000 parts. SO 5/8" is figured out 5 divided by 8 = .625 thousands. 1/2" is 1 divided by 2 = .500 thousands. 3/8" is 3 divided by 8 = .375 thousands. etc.
