I drove down from Belfast ferry port to Dublin back in 2006 and the one thing I really remember noticing was much how the road quality improves after crossing the border. Two other things I remember about that trip, one was Scotland winning the Kirin Cup at that time, and the other was being on the internet in the hotel and discovering this brand new website called RUclips for the first time, didn't have any idea back then about how it would take off.

I've been to Ireland four times flying from Glasgow Prestwick with Ryanair and I've never had to use a passport! All I had to provide was photo ID and I was able to use my driving licence for that, but then, of course, the UK was a member of the EU back then. It may be a completely different story from now on now that we rather foolishly listened to Boris Johnson and his lies and voted for Brexit in 2016.

Colin Douglas. The common travel area between Britain and Ireland predates the EU by many decades. In fact it’s been in force since what is now the Republic of Ireland ceased to be part of the United Kingdom. It supersedes any EU arrangements. That said, I think it’s always a good idea to have your passport for identification when flying between two different jurisdictions.

    Two call outs
I know you are sensitive to the topic but the majority of the people of Ireland don't recognise the border created by the British government and the minority unionist population. Not a criticism, just a call out.
On the match and Dundalk, it looked crap. Oriel Park is a real shithole for a clue that have reached the Europa League on Two occasions. Seeing the home singing section I'm amazed how small it is, I've been to Oriel many times but never on the far side, it's a disgrace to Irish football.

They should’ve spent some of that Euro money on the stadium. Would’ve had some long term benefits to the club rather than signing a few players.

Craic is an Irish language word that can mean fun , stories(gossip) or general happenings with good vibes . So you could say “we had good craic “
Or “there was no craic at all “
Or “ did you have any craic last night “
When Irish people greet one another we often say “any craic” or “what’s the craic” as another way of saying “ how is everything with you “ 🙂

Americans often get confused in Ireland when we say to them “any craic” as they think we are asking them for drugs 😆
