Tremendous news!!! Such a very strong young woman!! Thank you, Lord, for taking care of Jess and for holding this family in a bubble of strength and courage. Way to go, Jessica Brock!!!!!
Always re-pot your plants when you get home from the nursery! You can use the old pot, but if you're not going to use a nursery pot (the black plastic one), make sure you put down gravel first for drainage. (It looks like your pot doesn't have drainage holes.) CONGRATULATIONS on remission!!!!!!
When you repot #1, you can use the pot you have it in. Put some rocks in the bottom of it so water can sit there instead of near the roots. It will use the water as needed! Same for all of them really. Good luck! And GREAT news on your remission! Prayer works!
Best way to tell if you need to repot your plants you can pop them out of the pot you have them in and if you see lots of roots it's time to repot. Rule of thumb is go up about 1 inch in size. You could use the decorative pots you already have. Would be good to fertilize them every couple months as well.
Yes, this. I think the main issue is that they need water. They should perk up. Then do what OP posted, as they may need more room. Add rocks, gravel and/or sand at the bottom, depending on what they need for drainage. I've always loved succulents, as they tell you when they need water; other plants are more finicky, but good rule of thumb is to check regularly (1/week or so) & if the soil feels dry to add a little bit of water at a time until mildly damp. Congratulations on being in remission! I've already known that info from your mom's channel, and it's still awesome to hear from yours 🥰
For your plants, when the leaves are just limp and the soil is dry then they just need water, when the pot is really small they dry out really fast, especially in winter or outside. Repotting would help them not dry out so fast because there would just be more dirt to hold onto the water. The leaves will turn brown and crinkly if they never get water or they will get yellow and wilt completely if they give too much water all the time.
Congratulations, Jess. We are all so happy for you! The plants are probably too close to the window and don't like the cold. That's my guess. As for water, most like to get pretty dry before you water again, especially your Aloe (#5) which is a dessert plant. Your pathos /philodendron (#1) doesn't like direct sun. None look pot bound, and some actually like to have a cozy pot.
I think the snake plant (#2) might be over watered. It also looks like it's in a too-large pot, so the soil is retaining water that the roots can't soak up fast enough. Check the roots for mushiness. I did the same thing to mine and it wilted in the same exact way.
First congrats on remission!! Fantastic News! And on the plants: I'm not sure what your watering schedule is for the plants, and what plants one and two are (they look like a snake plant and pothos?) but it could be overwatering too. If the leaves don't pick back up after watering, it's over-watering. If they puff back up after watering, it's underwatering. I'd check the roots to see if they need to be repotted, if it's root-bound they should slip out of their pots easily when you turn it sideways and gently tug at the base of the plant. If the entire bottom is just roots then repot. If the plant seems stuck in their pots (don't force it), it probably means it's mostly soil and okay. I have both plants and my snake plants' leaves rot when I've overwatered and my pothos will wilt and yellow/drop leaves. My snake plant has been happier in a basic terracotta pot I noticed though. Hope this helps!
If the plant roots are touching all sides and bottom of the pot, repot into a plastic pot one size larger and use fresh indoor plant potting mix (cactus and succulent type mix is good for most indoor plants as it drains well and less chance of root rot). Sometimes you will have to get a new cover pot. generally do not plant directly into the cover pot. Remember plants need regular plant food too. Congratulations on your good news! :) x
Great news that you are in remission, Jess. Those plants (1&2) need to be repotted in a bigger pot. #1 - Put potting soil in the bottom of the new pot, then put the plant in the pot but loose the soil and roots to give them room. Fill the area around the pot so the plant itself stays in the center of the pot. #2 - one of the names for that is a snake plant (from what I have been told). It needs to be repotted in a bigger pot. It may also need different potting soil than the other plans T.
Oh Jess, I'm crying at how happy I am you're in remission! I have watched you through your Mother's loving eyes, steadfast love and even worried when I saw it in her eyes. It's been a blessing to learn about the wonderful young woman you've become. I consider myself blessed. More blessings are on your horizon Sweetheart, enjoy them. ❤
Hi!! Plants need sunlight, Not repotting.take out any dead leaves so the energy can be placed in new growth. If they needed more water, they would show more dead leaves and such. Water every couple of days. They will survive. ❤ congrats on being in remission!!
yay for remission! Love the plants. Remember they are tropical and won't tolerate the cold. I live in Southeast Florda and these all will grow outside because it hasn't frozen here in over 25 years. Make sure that they have quick draining soil. Don't leave them standing in water after you water them or the roots will rot. You might want to consider a plant light on a timer during the cold Winter months.
Fantastic news! Plants: large leaves like more shade than sun. Narrow leaves, the opposite. They probably are lacking a bit of nutrition, so repotting is a good idea. Look up how big they grow to and pot accordingly. Then you won't need to repot. You can just get liquid plant food as needed.
So glad to hear your good news! Thank you Lord for protecting our Jess! Thank you to the Doctors and medical team for taking such good care of Jess. Thank you Sandy for letting us all know and love your sweet girl.
The BEST NEWS YET!!!! The weight just came off your shoulders. I know that feeling well. You feel like all of the celebrations in one day. God has blessed you and your family.
Great news! About the plants, the first one is a pothos. You could be over watering. It's a low light, low water plant. Repotting is also good. The cactus type may have same issue.
So so happy for you! Congratulations on your remission! 🎉 I can't wait to hear from our daughter that our grandson is finished with his chemotherapy treatments it's been 18 months of weekly treatments and then in October they went to monthly treatments. That helps alot because she has to drive our grandson 4-5 hours one way for treatments. Cancer Sucks! 😔 Much Love from our family to your family 💞
Is your grandson in treatment for Leukemia? My daughter’s best friend was diagnosed at 2 1/2 years. She is now 29 with a three year old daughter. Best wishes for your entire family.
So happy for you Jess! About your plants… you may be watering too much! Sometimes if you water while In the cache pot, the water will sit in the bottom and it can cause root rot to set in which is usually what’s going on if your plants feel squishy when they droop. If they are droopy bc they are dry, they will get a little crispy. You should get a moisture meter to check before you water- true game changer!!
Congrats on being in remission!!! That's absolutely amazing news!!!! You can repot the plants in the same pot as long as the roots aren't root bound or anything like that, but you should put a layer of rock or small pebbles in the bottom to avoid rot. You may also have to start giving some of them plant food, not much just a little bit. Should be able to get away with giving them plant food every 4ish months after repotting, though you may have to repot again in a few years for better soil to hold water better. You may also want to move them away from the window so the don't get chilled from the cold coming off the window if you have any of them super close to it.
Congratulations on remission! 😊 as far as your plants go, I had my daughter who’s got a jungle of plants and has quite a lot of knowledge on how to care for them said: your plants look dry, however if it’s wet and you water too often then they’ll get root rot. Can pot into pink thing if it’s got a drainage hole in the pot, otherwise just clean off root and put it back into the black plastic it came in. Snake plants get wilted if the need water desperately or if constantly wet. Seems you just needed to water lil more often. 1-3,5need water 4 needs clearer pic, couldn’t see well but likely dry too. Only repot if it’s severely rootbound and you can’t see soil if you pull it out of plastic pot.
Looks very snowy out. Very nice stickers. Putting some of those stickers on your water bottle sounds like a great idea. I love those Oral-B toothbrushes. I have one as well. Piper and Lucy don't look too impressed about the snow. That's too bad that you didn't get to go rock climbing. That's a lovely Christmas tree. Going to Indigo is always great. Congratulations about being in remission! The cabin looks very cozy, as usual. Piper was very well behaved during that bath and didn't wiggle. Those candy cane bites look delicious. A banana bar crawl sounds interesting. You look great in that costume. Nice job on your nails.
Plant 1 could be that it needs repotted you can peak an see how the roots are if it seems like the roots are over crowded you will need to get a size up on the pot. Sometimes it could be that the soil is repealing the water crazy sounding I know but it will seem like know matter how much water you give it the soil isn’t wet an is kinda clumping. If that’s the case you can keep it in the same pot but just change out the soil. Also this plant when it needs water will tell you an it will look sad like this. I get a lot of plants from Lowe’s clearance to save them and a lot of the time the plants are just in to small of counter an need replanted and sometimes they are over watered. This one only needs water every once an a while and needs little sunlight. It’s a pathos supper low maintenance. I water mine when I see it wilting or once every couple weeks. 2 is a snake plant another low light supper low maintenance. Looks like maybe it just needs water but again a good place to start is check the roots see if it has enough room see if the roots are healthy if you see orange an smelly roots like rot then no good but normally lowes just over waters them. And the soil could also be doing the same thing repealing the water so you might just need to get new soil. These like the first one liked water less often. If you see wrinkles on the leaves it’s a sign it needs water. If you find that you are having to water them a lot that’s a sign that the soil is repealing the water an they just need new soil. All together best place to start is looking at the roots an checking out the soil. I water my snake plant maybe a couple times in a month. Not to sure what the other ones are but you can do the same thing check soil and roots always a good place to start. If there seems to be a lot of roots bump it up a size in pot an new soil. There is a app called picture this with a plant and you can use it for free and snap a picture of your plant an it will tell you all about your plant which might be helpful.
congratulations on remission. Your plants need more sunlight and water. I wish I could show you mine. My secret is giving those roots plenty of room to grow and I use a gallon size watering can, I then add 30cc of peroxide in the brown bottle. They love it because peroxide is pure oxygen. My Christmas cactus is around 5 ft. in diameter. So try that. I see you keep them in the window. In the winter, you might need to move them away from the cold window. Good luck! I can't wait to see how they do.
You look GREAT ! I hope you feel as well as you look - well done on beating the beast. Please stay well Jessica we are proud of you . It's so brilliant to see you getting on with life and ignoring the invader!😊 Hurrah 🎉
The yellow leaves could be either over or under watering. If you gently stick your finger in the soil and the soil is damp (without watering it), it's a case of over-watering. Soil should be damp or dry (depending on the plant) before you water again (google the plant-type to check for sun and watering requirements). Never repot when they are stressed. Good news on your remission. My daughter is a book reader, useds fairy loot and illumicrate too so thanks for the books by Jess referral! I'm always looking for things to get her and I got her a new kindle for Christmas and she just bought a water bottle.
Hey Jess, congrats on remission! those plants definitely look like they need more water. Watch them and see if they perk up the day after you've watered them and you'll have an answer. You shouldn't repot the first one in the pink planter unless it has a drainage hole in the bottom.
Congrats on your remission, as to your plants put your finger in the soil down to your first joint if it is still dry it probably needs watering try soaking first for about 1/2 hour if it doesn't recover then repot but make sure there are holes in the pot for air circulation then put back in your decorative pot. 🪴🌼
Jess, very excited for your remission. I know how excited I was when I found out for myself. I’ve been in remission since 2006. Congratulations on the great news.
Hallelujah, Jess! Thanks for prayers, support from your RUclips family for you, your family, your healthcare team and your friends. For the plants, I would suggest a well-drained pot, new soil since nursery soils can "wear out" (per my friendly plant advisor). She suggests a time-release fertilizer soil (which after 6 months, you supplement with a water-soluble fertilizer every 3 months). Your Sanseveria (snake plant or mother-in-law's tongue) uses up the soil and needs replacing. Mine got droopy (especially bad since the blades are 3 feet long). When I actually looked more closely, the roots were only about 3 inches deep and when lifted, the whole plan😢t with all its satellites , came up as one and there was No soil beneath it! It only needs watering when the top 2" of soil are dry. I just repotted and divided mine. There are many types of Sanseveria. It will be interesting to see if it sends out thick runners for new plants. Mine had 8 sister plants. It was in a 12" wide pot that was heavy pottery so it would balance the height. I've had it for >20 years.😮 For the pothos (#1), I would consider cutting the longer streamers, leaving 4-5 leaves, so it will fill out from the base. Otherwise, it can get scraggly. The cuttings can be rooted in a glass of plain water. Strip off lower leaves to put those nodes in the water. New roots will come out from those. Be sure the water level doesn't get below those junctions. (I speak from experience. )😢 Good luck with the plants. Let us know how they are doing. 🎉 Best wishes, a fellow reader. ❤
I’m so happy for you Jess. It does need water I think. Usually you repot it into a bigger pot. Or that’s what I’ve always been taught. I have never seen the brand of ice cream treat. I think your idea of weekly catch ups is a great idea. Thank you for your video.
06:25 I believe your plant is suffering from root rot. It has no drainage in the pot it's in, so even if the top feels dry, the soil at the bottom may still be wet. You can repot, if you wish, but another solution is to get yourself a plant soil tester. That way, you can effectively care for all your plants. 😁😍 They're not expensive, and are available at any hardware store.
I’m so happy for you Jess!! Way to go young lady. I hope you go out and capture your dreams, honey because you deserve it. You are a wonderful young lady, wise beyond your years and so very smart. You go get ‘em girl. Live. Love. Learn. Laugh. And Live again. And always remember to read!❤️
Remission!! I'm so proud of you, Jessica. You're such a strong woman.

The problem with many plants is the leaves will turn yellow both if they're under-watered (before they get "crispy"), or over-watered.
Congratulations, Jess. We are all so happy for you!

Fabulous news, we’re all hoping that it continues this way while life gets back to some kind of normal❤❤
I'm 54yrs. I got my 'all clear' in June ☺️. Know that you are awesome 🎉
congratulations on remission. Your plants need more sunlight and water. I wish I could show you mine. Hi Jessica. Glad to hear the news! Merry Christmas from Denmark.
Jessica, that is wonderful news! I am so glad that you are in remission and your results came out clear. You should be very happy.
Congratulations 🎊🎉 God is good!
Wonderful news !! Stay strong.
Congratulations!!! I know your family is excited!!
I am so happy for you!
Plant # 2 needs less water than the others! Look up each plant and find out what they require.
Congrats on your remission, as to your plants put your finger in the soil down to your first joint if it is still dry it probably needs watering try soaking first for about 1/2 hour if it doesn't recover then repot but make sure there are holes in the pot for air circulation then put back in your decorative pot. 🪴🌼
Amen! For remission!
Jess, very excited for your remission. I know how excited I was when I found out for myself. I’ve been in remission since 2006. Congratulations on the great news.

Congrats, Great news !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've had it for >20 years.😮
For the pothos (#1), I would consider cutting the longer streamers, leaving 4-5 leaves, so it will fill out from the base. Otherwise, it can get scraggly. The cuttings can be rooted in a glass of plain water. Strip off lower leaves to put those nodes in the water. New roots will come out from those. Be sure the water level doesn't get below those junctions. (I speak from experience. )😢
Good luck with the plants. Let us know how they are doing. 🎉
Best wishes, a fellow reader. ❤

Love the nail color!
Congrats. I am so happy for you.
I’m so glad to hear this news! I hope your energy & strength can return soon .
