I would recommend using a Daly bms instead of the one you have Daly bms are cheap and high quality, they also come with Bluetooth and is water proof

Did the same to my vanmoof s, if you can't get the pedal assist to work, it might be because vanmoof uses a 5 plug connector and the controller form china only needs 3 wires, I cut of the connector on the vanmoof side and on the s there's only 3 wires behind the connector and not 5 hope it makes sense and nice projekt :)

Thanks for the tip! I just went with an external 3 plug sensor for now, but would like to get the original bottom bracket sensor working. I will give this a try, thanks again!

Im pretty sure there's some extra space for more cells

I did consider that but with the pretty decent capacity the bike allready had I do not have the need for more. Also, I wanted the bike to stay at a 36 Volt system because of the motor, so voltage doesnt need upgrading as well. There would be room in the bicycle frame here and there if you would want to do this, but the original (and water sealed) battery case is pretty well packed.

@GearShiftJourneysOfficial I guess you can always upgrade the motor and cells at another date if the range becomes a problem !

So I’m using a 10series 36V BMS system that just provides charge and discharge wires to the controller. The controller itself is a 6-20 amp controller (a.aliexpress.com/_EJOzn9W) and will match up really well with a WGXN200 display (benefit is that this display has built in buttons for a cleaner look). Finally, a few small bits like a 9V buck controller powers the lights and a 3 wire PAS sensor (or throttle handle) can be wired to signal to the controller.
      Hope this helps!
