While I agree that 1 million sales in 3 months in commendable, I do think you're lowballing the development costs a bit.
And ShiftUp would have gotten more or less 25 dollars per sale on average (assuming the game cost 60) between the store's cut, the publisher's cut, and taxes... and that's me still being optimistic.

Even if they got 20m profit that is still a major success. Sony would make them make 100 more games if they can keep pulling that off. Because there's games who spend 100m to make and make 100m back. And get shut down even though it made 100m profit.

the issue is not male characters but how they make them, look at akuma, bison, Leon S Kennedy, snake from MGS, Jim kazama and many more, these are idolised male heroes by millions of men and women, and they look awesome, but this new beta male type that they usually put out isn't appealing for a lot of guys, companies just wanna sexualise everything nowadays and that makes them money due to how many single horny men are out here today, but hey is just my opinion.

I heard Rexlent was catching heat cuz he was hoping KR server of PGR would EOS or something "allegedly". And he said something about how poor people need to know their place in regards to f2p vs whales or something.
That's just what I saw him getting in trouble for on Twitter. I didn't do research to confirm anything fr. So maybe it's true, maybe it's not.
    🤔
As for the waifu vs husbando thing, there are plenty of guys (who aren't gay) who pulled for Jiyan and many of them are waiting for Geshulin too.
As for Love and Deepspace, it's still hovering around the top of the revenue charts. Sure there might be some dips in certain months, but it's still going strong.
I'm not gonna deny the waifus outsell "on average". But male characters do well enough that not every game needs to be waifu-only to thrive.
And I don't believe that guys are that much against pulling for male characters. I doubt most people are only pulling waifus in Naruto Mobile. Guys like male characters in fiction. They just need to be done in a way that looks cool to them -- which WuWa is good at doing.
So hopefully WuWa continues to appeal with both sexes instead of going the Azur Promilia route.

@@milmil5350 I don't know if he said the poor people thing. I'm only speaking on the waifu husband thing. Because there's facts and numbers on that. On average women gacha characters make 50% more income than men characters. That isn't an opinion it's a statistical fact. And I'm basically telling you why in the video. You can believe it or not but that's how the industry works

@@ScionStorm it feels like despite how consistently successful Love and Deepspace is at outselling gachas like Brown Dust 2, Nikke, Blue Archive, Azur Lane, etc. People are still refusing to acknowledge that men sell well and women are willing to buy them.
I'm gonna be honest with you, as a female gacha player myself there are various factors that determine whether I play a game or pull a character.
👉 If the vast majority of the characters are female and there's barely fanservice for straight female players, I feel less inclined to invest in the game.
👉 If the husbando they put in the game has a design that looks really mid, basic, and/or unappealing to me, I'm not gonna invest anything into that character.
Women want quality. And we want to feel like the game is willing to cater to us too.
We're not gonna come out to strongly support games that treat us like an afterthought-- which is something that you have to admit many gacha games do.
We made a statement with Love and Deepspace and even with Ensemble Stars (which despite how old, simple, and buggy the game is, it's still there in the charts every time).
But people want to ignore that and keep saying that male characters don't sell well.
⚠️ If a husbando doesn't sell well, it could be a matter of:
      1. genre (not enough female players),
      2. lack of quality (doesn't appeal enough design wise to encourage spending),
      3. lack of marketing for the new character in the game,
      4. overall roster of characters being overwhelmingly female (no matter how good a design is, I'm not investing in a game where 10 characters are female and 2 are male -- not unless the gameplay appeals to me *that* much).
There are various reasons as to why things are the way they are. But let's not overlook the success of games like Love and Deepspace, Ensemble Stars, and Light and Night (which sadly will probably never go global at this rate).
If women are given a good quality product and treated like they matter, they will support the product.
      Those are the facts.
