Orange oil mound drench is very effective. I also have great results with dry molasses (horse feed supplement), just broadcast it like fertilizer. The sugar causes a microbe bloom that attacks the nest and also acts as an organic fertilize. DE only works when dry.
I'll have to try the dry molasses. Yes, that's my issue with DE too. It's good to have as an option, but isn't a great solution on it's own. I've been really happy with the orange oil.

Without ants we would have a ton of stuff rotting all over. They are little garbage collectors. They can be very anoying though but interesting.
True, they have their place. And they also eat my seedlings and sting like crazy! That's why my goal is relocation, not complete elimination.
