Luke killing it once again! Thanks for the comprehensive demo. Just placed my order for this fantastic instrument. I love the sounds (particularly the overdriven "Rhodes") on this affordable beast. FXs sound neat as well and as a guitarist too, I couldn't be happier with the recording options via the onboard sound card. Can't wait to put my hands on it!
You're very kind. 12+ years now!! I need to actually get practicing as lockdown was not kind to me (and many musos) and I'm back out on the road very soon for the first time in 3½ years!!! Thank you David.
Me very very and very nice see and hear instrument CK88 YAMAHA!! I`like very very 70-80-90 glam-melodic-rock-balads,and CK88 YAMAHA!! Real in my person melodic-hard-rock melodic-simfo-neo-classic-classic-music!!! Very very magik cool sounds!! Thank-you very soo much dears on YAMAHA everybody too!! I`love you!!!!
I don’t get why every keyboard demo plays the piano and ep sounds as if they’re in a church band or an early 90s ballad cover band. There are so many other genres out there.
Hello. Is it possible to install other sound sources such as Bösendorfer and Hamburg in ck88? I wonder if it's possible like modx8 or mongtage. If possible, where can I buy additional songs? Thank you for the video and comments.
I ordered this unit. It appears Luke is using backing tracks through a USB thumb drive. Can anyone tell me what program he used to obtain or program those tracks? Are any of the available pre programmed drum scores usable?
They were just wav files from recordings I'd done previously. Copyright can be a bit funny about playing famous songs on these vids.... so I figured using songs I'd written might limit that worry. Haha. But you could use any audio. Or find loops on Splice etc. Best wishes.
@Luke Juby Thanks for the info. The last time I did backing tracks I had an Atari 1040 and the Dr T sequencer through a stack of rack mounts. This looks so much easier. Cheers.
There's, I think without it in front of me atm, 5 organ types that use the Organ Flutes samples tech. They're referred to simply as H, V, F, A and Y. I'm not sure where copyright of brand names like Hammond, Vox, Farfisa etc starts and ends so I wouldn't really want to comment.... I'm sure those brands will B 3 of the organs represented on the instrument though. 😬
@@lukejuby since I don’t care about those copyrighted names: H = Hammond (most likely based on the B3) F = Farfisa, Italian combo organs from the 1960s/70s V = Vox Continental, British combo organs from 1962-1971 A = Ace Tone combo organs from ~1965 Y = Yamaha YC combo organs from 1969-72
Different keybed (natural wood) with better escapement. Virtual resonance modelling on the piano samples for way more realistic sounding piano, and probably better speakers. And the P515 also has a selection of accompaniment styles on board. In other words: it’s a whole different instrument and I think it’s more geared towards the home player while the CK is definitely geared towards gigging musicians who want an affordable and very portable instrument.
@@lukejuby Cool. It looks perfect for me. I'm a beginner owning a Roland Go88 and the goal is to have a Nord Stage. This is the perfect in between. Thanks for the comment.
Haha mm not quite, but I do think this ropes in the people that want YC61/73/88 keyboards but can’t afford them and you get a ton of useful features at this price point. I’m still getting the Stage 4 but can think of many gigs where I’ll get by just fine with the CK88
I tend to agree, yes the organ is not quite as good, but in many ways it matches and exceeds the ability of the Nord. The action is similar, and certainly no worse than the Nord, the functionality and flexibility and ease of use of the Yamaha is certainly as good if not better. It is more limited in on board sounds and Nord has the sound library, but the Yamaha has on board speakers and the sounds it does have are excellent and adjustable in so many ways. Fr a gigging musician, this variety and connectivity options, with lightweight, plus an 88 key GHS action make this a fantastic package. As a songwriter and musician, as many of the reviews say, it also provides so many options for creativity at your fingertips. It is not often you see a keyboard and think it is a game changer, but I think the CK88 fits that category Amazing!
Clearly a very talented musician and a great keyboard but why , oh why do demonstrators always f* about with opening and shutting the filter when playing strings . FFS play it so we get the full taste of Yamaha’s work , not your interpretation of how the filter works on strings . They all do it . P****s me right off. Otherwise great demo and respect to your playing ability which is top class but PLEASE leave the filter alone eh. We know what it does .
Piano Sounds are weak hearing with my imac. Maybe bad recording. Nothing really special you have not heard years ago. Cheap buttons. Price is ok but it looks cheap, not worthy.
I think you get what you can expect pricewise. Probably no metal chassis, because lightweight. “Graded hammer standard” keyboard, so no triple sensor keybed (correct me if I’m wrong). Organs are sample based, not virtual modelled like on the YC series. But hey, you still get a lot of board for the buck, if you ask me. Lots of useful features, a shitload of very usable sounds, which you can save to live sets in up to 3 splits or layers, mono/unison options for your synth sounds, a load of cool effects, USB audio interface… it seems a real gig machine to me, much like the Roland VR09, but more of todays standards. I think this is a real nice deal for the hobbyists and semi-pros.
As a fellow iMac owner I'm not sure I'd recommend judging a recording or keyboard using the Mac's in-built speakers. Try some headphones. It could be likened to me judging the David statue purely from my nephew's version in silly putty. 🙂🙂 You might still feel the same, but defo worth eliminating "terrible speakers" from the experiment. 👍🏼

Hey Yamaha, We need a 73keys W.A. for this keyboard. I would buy on the spoot..

Superb demo of this awesome keyboard, demoing at Yamaha London with a plan to purchase
nice ! sounding keyboard looking for another one for my recording studio this one sounds amazing

3:37 - is that Audio input pre-recordings made in some DAW , triggered as a sample or somekind of new... "accompanyment" thing actually?
Bravissimo
Thanks
Hmmm...... where did you find rhythm on this piano?

Where’s the CP?!
Came here for the ck88 - cp88 comparison. Stayed to hear various layered sounds I’d never use 😔

Why would anyone buy Yamaha P515 when they can have this for the same money?

Any acordeon sound inside?
Yes. Actually in the organ section I believe, along with the church and pipe organs.

The Nords are just so absurdly overpriced. Unfortunately if people keep buying them, the price will stay ridiculous.
