Totally agree, none of the other promotion alternatives I've tried have come close to the results I've gotten with IG/FB ads. On a sidenote: congrats to your new studio/shooting environment, looks dope! 😍🤙
I fully agree. Musformation RUclips channel been spreading propaganda saying FB/IG ads don't get "real" fans, and that artists should use Spotify's ads 😂😂😂 what a joke
Wow. Incredible. All I can say to that is I've tested this stuff using my own money and my own music, which is why I feel confident in sharing what I've learned.
100% agree with this. I just view IG as the foundation of everything. I think other successful advertising efforts existing on top of or alongside that. I'm hoping Spotify will continue to evolve and improve what they're building though, especially inside Spotify for Artists. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Would love to see a video for running ads to get more instagram engagement for likes and comments! I was also trying to look for videos on running ads for ones merch! Have you experimented with any of these ever?
Hey tom! Touching on your note about re-targetting, how do we do that inside of meta? Is there some kind of option i need to click specifically? Thanks!
Hey, great question! You'll need to create custom audiences based on who you want to retarget. I've got several videos on my channel that cover that sort of thing, especially retargeting Instagram engagement, etc.
I would love to see how Meta ads perform for a pre-save campaign. Pre-saves help get on editorial playlists, which are really hard to be placed onto after release, unless there is an absurd increase in streams. If these click-through metrics are similar for a pre-save campaign, this could result in playlist placement and result in more streams off the same budget.
Unfortunately, I've never seen good results from ads for presaves. Presaves are generally more effective with a hot audience of die-hards, not a cold (or even warm) audience like those targeted by ads. I like presaves for your email list, but it's mostly going to have an impact if you have a lot of subscribers. If you don't have a big email list and are using ads, I would wait until release day and hit it hard then. When people see an ad, they want to listen immediately. People don't particularly subscribe to delayed gratification via social media, as the whole system is built on instant reward. We have to play into the psychology of the user to a certain degree.
Thanks for the great advice Tom.^^ Just a little thought that has nothing to do with ads: it seems to me that maybe you should try to add just a bit of gentle lighting on the other side of your face. I'm no expert so I'm not sure it would be better but might be worth a try ;-)
Appreciate the feedback. I'm playing with different lighting techniques in this new room and am sort of testing new things from video to video, so I'll keep that in mind!
I've reintroduced Facebook placements for myself recently, but I always start with Instagram as the foundation. I just test stuff back and forth to get new insights to share here. For most of the artists we work with though, we exclusively use Instagram. I'd say probably 90%.

Just followed you.
Man, love to hear that. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. And thank you for the sub!
100%. IG/Facebook ads can often times lead to more refined budgeting, and cheaper results.
That's right! All better for the independent artist on a budget.
I think overall a diversified ad strategy is best because some potential fans are not on instagram but are on spotify & vice versa.

So appreciate your teaching here. Seems obvious about the bang for the buck but needed to be said. Thanks again. 👏🏻

No problem! Thanks for watching!
Hey Tom - so are you not really using Facebook at all at the moment out of interest?

@@tomdupreeiii love it! Mostly reels nowadays presumably?
