@TheKyleDevil Well, we're working on some easier to make and fly thin foam gliders to get people started. Also, I recommended in the video starting with the tumblewing. Slater
@jojoQ22 Unless you are a hang glider pilot or have made lots of model planes or something like that, I wouldn't expect the first one to work. But if you consider what you're doing--it's worth the trouble to try it again. Also, it's a good idea to start with the tumblewing first--much faster and simpler to build. Slater
@CoffeeTheMouse I don't know. Try to find paper that is strong but also lighter than printer paper. If you look on the sciencetoymaker website I am starting to use thin foam instead of paper. It works better but I don't have it completely developed yet. Slater
@jojoQ22 The tumblewing is quicker and easier to build, though it still takes some dedication to learn to fly it. I am experimenting with thin foam gliders with my students. When we work out all the details i think they will be the best way to learn. Slater
Ya think? Of course it's a mess. But it's asking a bit much for one busy person to develop projects, shoot and edit the video AND be good at website design AND be free to all. In addition, this particular project has advanced in leaps and bounds, but that leaves some older videos. I try to hide them away on old pages, but I don't want to delete them.
@kerriechapa210 Any weight will work. I used to use straw slivers, but I found that thin wire was easier to adjust. With straws you have to cut off a little or add tape to adjust weight. Slater
Your organization and conciseness are well apreciated and should serve as a model for many other youtube uploaders. Nice post I'm sure my students will ove doing this.
@kavitjatinshah What does it do? It's not unusual to have to make a second glider before you get it to work. If you can give me some detailed feedback, I might be able to help. And it will help me to know where people are having trouble. Slater
@hollieandsusanrule Yep, it's not easy. I just switched to a new design with a new pattern and new videos. Make sure you have the EZR pattern, not the 241 pattern. In a few months the I will have instructions for foam gliders, which will be easier to make. Slater
also, i use dex phone book paper that is ages old and was left in my garage for like 3yrs. does that effect it? and where do you get the twisty things. i know that you get them at the grocery and places like wholefoods and stuff but we rarely go there.
Any weight will work fine. I like thin wire because it can be micro-adjusted easily just by bending in more forward or backward, without having to add or cut off weight. Slater
wait im confused so the regular printer sheet paper is heavy is that why it wont fly much but the lither phone book paper will last flying rite yes or no please reply slater
The pattern is linked in the text section, but here is the link. www.sciencetoymaker.org/hangGlider/images/EZRhighAspectMed.PDF Note that I keep this video up for archival purposes, but 1/2 mm thin-sliced foam works much better than any paper. www.sciencetoymaker.org/airsurf/index.htm
Jenny Yuan Well, it has to be rigid enough to keep the wings spread out. This is an article about foam. I hope to make a video about cutting your own foam soon. www.sciencetoymaker.org/airsurf/Time%20Warp%20EPS%20Foam.htm
+Sonic Segovia You can use anything for weight. But paper is very heavy and difficult to adjust. If you want to use paper, try this ruclips.net/video/al9ERt1PiFY/видео.html
Love the thing but your website is messed up. Everything is in no order for people to easily see and find what they want. The website should be rearranged. Just my thoughts.
There is text below this video that starts with, "Revised instructions for making an EZR origami hang glider. The link to the..." Then you click on the "see more" button to see the rest. That reveals a link to the PDF pattern. Slater
it doesn't work at all. 3rd one. i spent all my time trying to perfect it with perfect cuts and all. sometimes dives or stalls. i use correct everything and fly indoor with a/c off.
Man u put your effort to follow the project, my complements. But what of all that matters if you can't show em properly. Why don't u just put a bit more effort to the website, that's the place everybody is going after seeing this video.

@1rich14 Start with foam gliders, linked in the text box.
Slater
@vonmark12 No, both the instructions and the pattern are different now. All the revised links are at sciencetoymakerDOTorg.

Fantastic presentation and design. Great way of teaching aerodynamic concepts.

@delaneypratt Newspaper has not worked well for me, but let me know if you can get it to work.
Slater
Do they have phone books in Hong Kong? If not, newspaper might work if the air is not very humid. I now work only with foam.
Slater
@Mripodaddict1 Thin foam gliders are much easier to start with, linked in the RUclips text information box.
Slater

Can I know the dimension of that little square used to measure the weight of the 'twisties' wire
Any weight will work fine. I like thin wire because it can be micro-adjusted easily just by bending in more forward or backward, without having to add or cut off weight.
Slater
@sciencetoymaker can i just use a cut up straw at 7:03
can we use any other thing instead of the twisty like a paper clip
i cant find where u get the printed cut out sheets on the website. where are they?
wait im confused so the regular printer sheet paper is heavy is that why it wont fly much but the lither phone book paper will last flying rite yes or no please reply slater
@03030310 Did you look at sciencetoymakerDOTorg?
Slater
@Ryanjoe090 Yep, I've done that. Maybe let the tip stick out like a book mark.
Slater
Is this KGV? I'm going there next year... are you going to teach that?
can i change font book to news paper
Could you use newspaper for the back
Try it. But I've stopped working with paper. I use thin-sliced EPS foam instead now. We don't think of paper being heavy, but it really is.
where can i get the phone book paper??
lost the page in the phonebook! cant find glider
Donde puedo descargar la imagen para hacer el avion
mine flew the first time but i used thin copper wire and it worked. but thx thow for the demo and instructions!:-)
Science toy maker I tried to print the templates but I just can,t find it.where can you print it?

sciencetoymaker from where to find that foam dude
Can you show me how to fly with our hands I do not know how to fly a place like that one video
can we use newspaper instead
Parth Mahajan Try it. I don't work with paper much anymore. Now I use thin foam instead.
can i use floral wire
+Sonic Segovia You can use anything for weight. But paper is very heavy and difficult to adjust. If you want to use paper, try this ruclips.net/video/al9ERt1PiFY/видео.html
how do u print
