Why do I just love her and her mom's personality. There's just something so inspiring and peaceful about them. It's almost like the fact that they know their calling in life makes them at peace with their spirit. As a Hawaiian that desires to be an artist. I really found it awesome that it was part of her story.

I would love to know how can I get to an art publisher? I can find book publishers, but not for art.

So much good information here! I wasn't even aware that there was such a thing as an art publisher, but it makes total sense. Dimitra is such a talented, graceful and kind person, not to mention clearly fully connected to her Source Energy! She is so inspiring with her art! I absolutely LOVE the imagination and depth of her pieces, and kept staring at the one behind them! Absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing. It's like it's full of little treasures that you have to hunt for.
After listening to this, I'm feeling much better prepared for dealing with a publisher and I'm sure it's pretty straightforward to find them doing a google search. I've got some work to do yet with my art, but it's getting there! I'm so glad I found you guys! I no longer feel like I'm wafting out here in the breeze wondering what to do to get my art and my message out there, so thank you!
And yes, an art management service would be awesome! Love that idea! I don't know how much it would cost, but I would definitely be interested. I already pay for coaching and invest in programs like Milan. Every little bit helps in the business world! Cheers!!

Thank you, Dimitra and Jake. This was such an engaging and informative discussion. I enjoyed watching Jake’s wheels turning in real-time, and always with an eye on the best-interest of the artist - so refreshing! Dimitra continues to amaze me with her blend of wisdom and talent and work ethic and authenticity and kindness. I’ve enjoyed following their journey this past year - these young artists/entrepreneurs are building momentum and changing the world for good. 🙌 ❤️ 🎨

I haven't watched this yet...but it's on my watch later list... A somewhat related question... have you look into decentralized blockchain technologies for artists to sell their art? Both physical and digital? LiveArt is one company doing things in this arena. I'd love to know your take on it.

If Milan Institute came out with an Artist management service I’d buy it and so would most of your students.
Clearly a fee and a percentage (commission) is much more ethical than the dark arts would agree to, and would be a great way to change the existing business model that dominates the way that things get done. The publisher is my boss dynamic with predatory contracts has to go.
Also, 90K out of 1MM in sales and not even business class flights…Demitra was for all intents and purposes practically robbed. I would sue if the statute of limitations isn’t up although unfortunately it probably is.
In true Demitra fashion it looks like she just left the situation with grace, and put it all behind her, preserved the gallery relationships, and just stepped forward with gratitude. What a star! Love her. 💞🌎🌈

It is clear that Dimitra has matured in so many ways since her experience with her publisher. She knows what she wants, and she understands her options. Like so many successful artists, visual or performing, it is necessary to confront the business side of their work. It is not a commodity. She cannot realistically turn out more than 100 originals a year, similar to concert appearances. She clearly has to raise her rates per piece. She of course does not, and will not, ever have the reach of a pop star, but she can develop lucrative side hustles without endangering her valuable painting time. I don’t know why her parents allowed her to get into that less-than-ideal contract (I know they have considerable experience in contractual work). But it is a testimony to Dimitri’s kind spirit that she holds no grudges and wishes only to move on. Most of us mere mortal artists will never see the success she has, but I appreciate the glimpse into an anachronistic, cutthroat business. Good luck to her.

I adore her and sweet mom. Please do not do licensing without doing your research! You can sell your own work and produce your own products! Do not give that money away!!!

Thank you for the support! Yes we could see how it could have its downsides, though a lot of really good connections can be made through licensing as well!
